I took my kids to another dental group, and I got a list of their cavities. I needed a second opinion. When I took my kids to Dr. James, most of my kids did not have cavities, and my son had two instead of several. Not only do I appreciate Dr. James honesty, but I feel comfortable in his office. His staff is amazing. I go to Dr. Sam. He makes his patients feel comfortable, hes friendly, and honest. I usually dont go out of my way to give good reviews because of my busy schedule, but I just had to write a comment about Sam and James. Thanks for taking care of my family!
I wish it were possible to give Dr. Mattson and his staff more than five starshowever, since five stars are the most I can give him, I will. Dr. Mattson and his practice have absolutely positively earned every single one of them and then some. Dr. Mattsons chair-side manner is the best I have ever experienced. He genuinely cares about his patients and their well-being, taking the time to explain every aspect of your procedure in sufficient detail that even someone as hugely dental-phobic as I am is put at ease. My procedures were all conducted quickly, smoothly, and professionally, and Im absolutely thrilled with the results. Im very happy to say that I have found a dentist for life. So Dr. Mattson, please dont ever retire.
Finally found a dentist that Im happy with!! Thank you, Dr. Hellickson! Moving from state to state brings about great experiences and opportunities, but if you are like me who had the same dentist for 15+ years it also brings about mixed emotions when its time to find a doctor. The first dentist I went to did not work for me, so I am very grateful for Dr. Hellickson, who is patient with me, explains everything thoroughly and only wants to work on teeth that truly need work. Even though I relocated and my old dentist has retired, I now have a younger version of him in Oregon!
My experience with Dr. Sam has been amazing! He took a mouth full of bad dental advice from other dentists over the years and in less than a year, gave me a smile to be proud of. The man is a miracle worker and has a great chair side demeanor. Easy to talk to, non-judgmental and went way above and beyond what any other dentist would do to make me feel at ease. He is highly ethical in that he chose to save a couple of teeth rather than pull and put in much costlier replacements. Now my whole family goes to see him with the same positive experiences as well AND I refer all my friends to his practice too. The whole staff is great and this dentist is the best I have ever had.
Dr. Samuel Mattson was born in Portland, Oregon. He attended Sunset High School in Beaverton and went on to receive his bachelors degree in Microbiology from Oregon State University. In 2004, he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. From 2004 to 2011, Dr. Mattson taught part time as an associate professor at OHSUs school of dentistry before dedicating himself full time to his Aloha practice. In 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Dr. Mattson was selected by his peers (reported in the Portland Monthly Magazine) as one of the top dentists in the greater Portland metropolitan area. Being a Portland native, he views this professional recognition as a great honor.
Away from his practice, Dr. Mattson enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. As a huge sports enthusiast, you can find Dr. Mattson enjoying Autumn Saturdays tailgating with family and friends at college football games. In the winter months, his attention shifts towards our Portland Trailblazers basketball team. If any free time remains, Dr. Mattson enjoys golfing, snowboarding, and many other outdoor activities.
Dr. Benjamin Hellickson was born in Corvallis, Ore. He received his bachelors degree in Microbiology from Oregon State University. It is at OSU that he and Dr. Sam met and became fast friends. In 2014, he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, Calif. Dr. Ben provides the highest quality dental care to his patients full-time in our office and frequently attends continuing education courses and study clubs to make sure he is providing the most up-to-date services for his patients. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Multnomah and Washington County dental associations and American Academy of General Dentists.
Outside of the office Dr. Ben enjoys spending time with his wife, baby (coming March 2016), two dogs and family. He has an active lifestyle and enjoys running, hiking, biking, surfing, skiing, golfing and often participates in running races and triathlons around the Pacific Northwest and California. Dr. Ben is also an avid sports fan who can be seen at football, baseball and basketball games and as many Timbers games as possible.
It is such a unique opportunity to become an oral health care provider in the practice that introduced me to dentistry. I count myself very blessed to be a dentist in a practice with such great patients, staff and quality of dental care. Dentistry is a wonderful profession that fosters collaborative relationships between the patient and the dentist. Dr. Kyahn Daraee grew up in Beaverton, and attended Southridge High School. He received his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Oregon State University and went on to receive his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Oregon Health and Sciences University. As an avid lifelong learner, Dr. Kyahn (pronounced key-on) is always seeking out new information to ensure his patients are getting the highest quality of care. He is affiliated with the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentists, and Multnomah Dental Society.
When not working, Dr. Kyahn enjoys spending time with his wife and their black lab, Timber. Whether theyre skiing, camping, biking, or golfing, Dr. Kyahn and his wife are happiest when active outdoors, enjoying all that Oregon has to offer. Additionally, growing up as a junior tennis player in the Northwest, Dr. Kyahn spent many days on the local tennis courts in Beaverton, and he still enjoys playing to this day.
Together, you and Dr. Kyahn can create your dream smile. He aims to make every patients experience fun and informative, all within a comfortable environment. He looks forward to working together to achieve your oral health goals.

I just had my teeth cleaned by Julia, I have to say it was one of the most thorough I've ever had. Dr. Mattson found that one of my cavities was wearing thin and he recommend a crown because he is worried the tooth might crumble is he tries to refill. He was more anxious about the cost to do the work that I was, it's alway been the case with him, he hates to give you bad news, he's very compassionate and does great work!

I have been a patient with this practice for 40 years, as it has grown from a one-person practice into 3 great dentists with a team of wonderful professional staff. All are highly skilled in their work, and have always made sure that my oral health was in top shape. This is a practice that values teamwork and providing exceptional service to their patients. They have always found a way to help me out with unexpected dental issues, and have made sure that I was taken care of before a big event or extended vacation. Because of their efforts over many decades, I am able to enjoy life with my signature "loud and mouth-wide-open" laugh.

Wow! I came to MH dental because of a dental emergency and they were able to fit me in (amazing!). When I got there, I was greated by some very friendly office staff. The office is open, relaxing, and has a welcoming modern feel. They have music and monitors to help you relax in the dentist chair. The dentist and hygienist were amazing. I experienced kindness, professionalism, and an excellent attention to detail. I'm truly greatful for your help!!!!!!! I highly recommend you try them.

The absolute best dental experience!! With my background in the Dental field my expectations tend to be high and this dental office met every expectation and more. I totally recommend them. Fun dental office to go into. Seemed lively and the entire staff was very friendly. Teeth cleaning went very smooth. Dr. Kyahn was great and really took the time to explain what was going on with my teeth. Extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

These people must be magical, because my husband came back from the dentist *raving* about how friendly, knowledgeable, and considerate everyone was, from the receptionist to the hygenist to the dentist himself. My husband has never liked going to the dentist. It was always a miserable, painful experience for him, and it was always "pulling teeth," so to speak, to get him to go. Well, we won't have that problem anymore! Very excited to now have a dentist that we like and trust.

Everyone here is wonderful. Everything was explained clearly along the way and I felt truly listened to. I have had some bad dental experiences in the past that make me feel anxious about dental work but this was a wonderful experience. It's also just a really pleasant setting and I feel like thought was put into making every part of the experience streamlined and pleasant.

Brand new location & equipment, layout, etc. everything looks state of the art and very modern. What's stayed the same is impeccable service, especially the caring & respectful 'bedside manner' of hygienist & Dr Mattson. The old crew is as awesome as they've always been & new faces appeared to be cut from the same cloth. Nice to see them all glowing in their new digs.

I get a little freaked out when I go to the dentist. But since I've started going to this dentistry. My experiences have been the best. Smiling faces when you come in and the atmosphere of the new place Just calms you down. The way they treat their patients with great respect. I can't say enough. I thank everyone there. I love this group.
