Robert Mattioli, DMD graduated with honors from Toll Gate High School, in Warwick, RI, in 1982. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree and his dental degree, cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh.
After his dental school graduation, Dr. Bob entered the U. S. Navy as a general dentist. He completed a residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and then was stationed in Japan for three years. For his remaining two years in the military, Dr. Bob was stationed in Yuma, Arizona. After leaving the Navy, Dr. Mattioli completed his residency in Orthodontics at the University of Louisville, where he also received his Masters Degree in Oral Biology.
Its more important than ever to brush and floss regularly when you have braces, so the teeth and gums are healthy during orthodontic treatment. Patients who do not keep their teeth clean may require more frequent visits to the dentist for a professional cleaning. Adults who have a history of gum disease should also see a periodontist during orthodontic treatment. Watch the video below on the proper care of braces during orthodontic treatment.
What can you eat? Lets talk about what you shouldnt eat! For the first day or so, stick to soft foods. Avoid tough meats, hard breads, and raw vegetables. Before long, youll be able to bite a cucumber again. But youll need to protect your orthodontic appliances when you eat for as long as youre wearing braces.
When you get your braces on, you may feel general soreness in your mouth and teeth may be tender to biting pressures for 3 5 days. Take Tylenol or whatever you normally take for headache or discomfort. The lips, cheeks and tongue may also become irritated for one to two weeks as they toughen and become accustomed to the braces. We will supply wax to put on the braces in irritated areas to lessen discomfort.
To successfully complete orthodontic treatment, the patient must work together with the orthodontist. The teeth and jaws can only move toward their corrected positions if the patient consistently wears the rubber bands or other appliances as prescribed. Lack of cooperation following instructions and damaged appliances lengthen the treatment time so please follow instructions.

I have been affiliated with Mattioli Orthodontics since 1997 and assumed the role of office manager in 2016. The office is a vibrant and fun atmosphere. Im originally from Toronto, Canada and received my BA in Education from Providence College. I love to travel and am married with 3 wonderful children.
I joined Dr. Bob and my fellow co-workers in 2007; I have worked in the dental field for over 20 years. In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.

What a great experience! Everything from the funniest hygenists/assistants to the experience of Dr. Bob (braid 4, criss cross 2, etc) was amazing. The office people were always helpful too. No waiting and always available for quick fixes. I enjoyed this experience and looking forward to hot weiners too, lol!!!

Dr. Bob and his entire staff have been absolutely incredible with two of our boys are newly in braces. They are always gentle,friendly, accommodating and make the entire process so fun and easy for the kids. We are beyond grateful for the work they do and the heart behind all of it. Boy #3 will be sitting in that chair soon enough and we couldn't be happier with our decision to use Mattioli Orthodontics.

Dr. Bob used Clarity Aligners to correct my bite. I couldn't be happier with the results! Dr. Bob's professionalism, efficiency, and state of the art technology was very impressive. His staff is also extremely educated and skilled to help the orthodontic journey be a seamless experience. I would highly recommend Mattioli Orthodontics.

Dr. Mattioli is meticulous. His staff is professional, efficient, and courteous. I've had experiences in the past with orthodontists where I felt they were prescribing unnecessary treatments for my young children and that I was being overcharged. From the first appointment, Dr. Bob offered a practical plan of treatment and a fair estimate for both children. Both of my children now have beautiful smiles and we highly recommend this practice.

I've been very happy with Dr. Mattioli and his staff. My daughter's experience with orthodontics has been wonderful thanks to the care, patience, and communication of everyone there. Very different than my own experience with braces as a child. My daughter has had no fear of appointments (actually more excitement than anything else). Another big plus for me was that their flexible payments plans removed any financial stress for me. I'd recommend his office to anyone!

We have been clients of Dr. Mattioli for two years. Both of my children are patients of his, and we have been very pleased with the care given by both Dr. Bob and his staff. The office is always clean and busy, located centrally on Post Road, and there is hardly a wait time for your assigned appointment. Both Dr. Bob and his staff have excellent "chair side" manners! Whenever there is a braces emergency, which inevitably will happen, we almost always get an appointment the same day or next to fix the situation. Late afternoon appointments always fit our schedule. Dr. Bob's office was recommended to us by family (two nephews and one niece) and friends (son and daughter are patients). We found their pricing schedule to be competitive with local orthodontists, and their billing schedule is very flexible. Our family is very happy with Dr. Bob, and he is highly recommended!
