Many dentists now recommend a tooth implant over other tooth replacement procedures such as partial dentures or fixed bridges. Dentures sit on the gums and can become loose. Fixed bridges require grinding down surrounding teeth. Dental implants, however, are fused right into the jaw bone and are the preferred long term tooth replacement option for adults with missing teeth.
Even though dentures and fixed bridges are viable options for replacing missing teeth in adults, they are not without their complications. Dentures can become loose and make clicking sounds when the wearer is eating or speaking. Fixed bridges can damage otherwise healthy teeth.
Dental implants continue to provide better long term results for tooth replacement because they are surgically fused into the jaw bone. Once they are properly integrated into the jaw, they look and function just like your natural teeth. They also stimulate the jaw bone, which helps prevent the bone lossthat occurs when teeth become missing. Since they are made of titanium, they are resistant to tooth decay.
Dr. Kiya Green earned her undergraduate degree at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1993. She earned her D.D.S. from the University of Maryland in 1998. She then completed her General Practice Residency at the Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In 2002, her Periodontal training was completed at the Medical College of Virginia where she also received her certificate in Periodontics, IV Sedation and a Masters Degree in the Dental Sciences. In May of 2006, Dr. Green became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Susan graduated from Midland Technical College in Columbia, SC in 1968 as a proud member of South Carolina's FIRST graduating class of Dental Hygiene. Susan has been with our practice for over 30 years! Her goal for her patients is to achieve optimal oral hygiene as a stepping stone to good overall health and wellness.Susan has been married to Brooks for 44 years and has two children, Tres, Courtney and her son-in-law, Wright.
Laura Reich graduated from NYC Community College with her degree in dental hygiene. She worked in NYC as well as Washington , DC before moving to NC (after she got married to her husband Barry). Laura started working for Matthews Periodontics before Dr. Green bought the practice in 2008. Laura and Barry have two grown children. Rachel, ever the adventurer, lives and works in Jackson Hole, Wyomng. Daniel is currently getting his PhD at the University of Utah and plans to be married next spring. Laura and Barry love to travel and most recently spent a week on Whidbey Island off the coast of Seattle, Washington. When she is not working at Matthews Periodontics Laura loves to read, volunteer and work out at the Siskey YMCA.
Hello. I am Camille. I graduated from Dental Hygiene school in South Carolina in 2007. The following year I became licensed in North Carolina and then in 2014, New York. I joined Dr. Greens team in 2016 and I love it here. One of my favorite things about working here is the respect Dr. Green has for her employees and her patients. I come to work everyday knowing that my boss and co-workers care about each other and our patients. One of my favorite things about being a hygienist is that I can change a persons life for the better.I was born in Brooklyn, New York and have lived in Charlotte since 2008. Just like Dr Green, I am a newlywed. I love to learn about new cultures and languages. My current language that I am trying to tackle is Portuguese. I enjoy traveling, painting, dancing and living life to the best of my ability!

First off, Gillian the receptionist, is a joy to work with. She exudes a vibrant personality and professional demeanor. She is worth her weight in gold. Likewise, the tech who worked on me (I can't remember her name but you know who you are) was truly wonderful! Very pleasant and extremely sensitive to my needs. I would highly recommend her if you're tentative about having dental needs met. Dr. Green is very professional and patient, especially when developing a dental plan moving forward. All in all, if you have any periodontal needs, you should contact this office...you won't find a better or more caring staff anywhere!

The VA,sent me to Matthew's Periodontics for teeth cleaning and follow up maintenance.. They were pleasant to work with..I highly recommend them.. 27 Jul 22,Service was Excellent.. Follow up cleaning,3 Nov 22..Jennifer the dental hygienist is always so PLEASANT to work with..Great job as always..Great atmosphere..

This was my first visit to Matthews Periodontics and the experience was far better than I could have imagined. Cassie was my hygienist and explained every thing that she was doing and conducted my cleaning with no pain. Dr. Greene was friendly and professional and helped me to feel comfortable with the treatment plan.

All I can say is Doctor green and Miss Kennedy and the other hygienist I do not know her name but I will say they are all 100% the whole staff our friendly accommodating and make you feel right at home and completely painless! The whole staff at Matthews Periodontist goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. I had a great experience with Jennifer, my dental hygienist this afternoon.
