George S. Matosian has practiced restorative and prosthodontic dentistry in the San Diego, California area for more than 40 years. He is the Co-Director of the San Diego Odontic Seminar, and is a graduate of the University of California San Diego in biochemistry (1971), a magna-cum-laude graduate of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry (1975), and is a past-member of the faculty of that school. He has had a career-long interest in, and devotion to, continuing dental education, attending numerous programs and has completed extensive studies at the L.D. Pankey Institute, twice participated in the Dr. Peter Dawson Masters Forum there, and completed advanced studies of the Temporo-mandibular Joint (TMJ) there and elsewhere. Dr. Matosian has frequently presented lectures to other dentists and is the Co-Director of the San Diego Odontic Seminar, an advanced study group. He has served for more than a decade on the Council on Peer Review of the San Diego County Dental Society, and was its chairman in 2002 and 2003, and has been elected to the Pierre Fauchard Academy honorary dental society. His main non-professional interest is his grandchildren, and after that, astronomy, photography, travel, and automobiles.

Dr. Alex Matosian completed his undergraduate studies at Point Loma Nazarene University, and graduated from the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Following his passion for problem solving and creativity, Dr. Matosian obtained specialty training in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry at the University of California San Francisco. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Matosian returned to his native home of San Diego to practice with his father, and brother. Combining their skills, they enjoy a varied and exciting cosmetic and implant prosthodontic practice. Dr. Matosian has co-authored articles in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry on guided surgery and provisional techniques to transition patients through hard and soft tissue augmentation procedures. In his spare time Dr. Matosian enjoys riding bikes with his beautiful wife, playing baseball with his son and being entertained by his adorable baby daughter.
Michael J. Matosian CDT MDC, is the in-office Master Dental Ceramist at Matosian Dental, working directly with Drs. George and Alex Matosian. He completed his undergraduate studies at Point Loma Nazarene University and received a B.A. Degree in Graphic Design. Subsequently, he attended the Dental Laboratory Technician program at Pasadena City College, and obtained a Certified Dental Technician certificate (CDT) from the National Dental Laboratory Association in 2012. He completed his Master Dental Ceramist (MDC) training at the University of California Los Angeles School of Dentistry at the Center for Dental Esthetics in 2014, studying under the direction and mentorship of Dr. Ed McLaren, one of the worlds foremost and respected educators in the field of dental ceramics. He enjoys outdoor activities and is an avid surfer.

I recommend Dr. Alex Matosian for all your prosthetic needs. I came to Dr. Matosian with a very complex dental problem and he exceeded my expectations. Dr. Alex Matosian took the time to talk through my situation and the various outcomes that could take place. He prepared me for the worst outcome but at the same time set me up to succeed. He took the time to call me the night before my procedure to emphasize his concerns and prepped me for my visit. I knew I couldn't trust just any Dr. with my problem. I knew it had to be someone not only highly skilled, but possessed excellent communication skills and was emphatic. Dr. Alex Matosian and his assistant offered all those qualities. I am grateful I was referred to this office. Thank you for your service!

This is a long overdue review to do list on my part as a happy and satisfied patient of Dr. Alex Matosian. A very professional and knowledgeable prosthodontist. He explained every detail of any procedure being done and his main goal is to do his best to make me feel comfortable and pain free during the process. Dr. Alex was very accommodating and worked willingly with my busy schedule with family events, trips out of the country in between and family vacations. I had a lot of dental challenges but it all paid off in the end. My new set of dental implants looks so natural and always gives me a beautiful smile. It brings back the confidence in me and makes me feel good everyday. Someone made a comment on Facebook that I can be a "closeup toothpaste model" I am not shy to give my best smile and show my teeth anymore. It changed my life. I began to enjoy the food that I eat and taste it better. Thank you Dr. Alex. Matosian Dental Clinic has excellent teamwork with complete laboratory setting which makes the life of the patient easier. Family oriented and pleasant staff. Will definitely recommend to my family and friends.

Dr Alex Matosian took care of a very difficult implant of my #7 tooth. I had gone to another dentist and the first implant failed. I was referred to Dr. Matosian and was immediately put at ease. He gave me two options to complete the implant. During the procedure I felt at ease and confident that he would do a great job. Now that it is done I couldn't be happier with the final result. Would highly recommend this office for any dental procedure. The front desk staff was great too!

Dr.Matosian took a mouth full of very old veneers (30+ years) which were cracked and stained and turned them into a work of art. He and his team are so skilled at what they do. He evaluates the teeth and mouth and comes up with a plan to make your smile a dream come true. He is part of my total health program. Besides the amazing work that's done, the Matosian team is so helpful with scheduling, and insurance processing. To top it off they all have a great sense of humor.

Today I went into Matosian Dental to have 2 crowns repaired and replaced.. I can tell you for years I have hated the dentist office. I would rather be in pain than go get it fixed. Not so with this dental practice. For the FIRST time it was done as it should be...right. I didn't gag on impressions because they weren't jammed into my mouth. I didn't leave the office with my mouth hurting from being treated rough during procedures and the dentist actually did all of the major work without passing it off to an assistant. I arrived on time and they were ready on time. I wasn't made to wait, at all! Friendly and helpful staff. BEST DENTIST EVER!

Matosian Dental was the best, no exaggeration, dental experience I've had in 50 years. Their office is the brightest, friendliest and most professional dental service I have ever encountered. Given my rather dark history with dentists, I can only say that my experience with Matosian Dental was exceptional from the front desk, through xrays and examination, through dental hygiene, right up to the final outcome --> My beautifully matched new front tooth. I whole heartedly recommend these folks.

I highly recommend Dr. Alex Matosian. He has been a lifesaver for me after experiencing an unfortunate infection on a tooth that had been worked on by a different dentist years prior. The tooth needed to be removed and he was able to promptly treat my infection, make me a temporary looking tooth (I call it a flipper, but I don't think that's the correct term) and now some time later after a bone graft and some healing I have a beautiful tooth implant that looks and feels like a natural tooth, only is way stronger. The whole process at Matosian Dental was seamless, starting from the kind care at check in to feeling comfortable in his chair. And trust me I have a STRONG fear of the dentist and I've never experienced that once with Dr. Alex. They truly treat you like you are a part of their family. He explained the whole process in detail to me and answered all 500 of my questions. He never rushes and is meticulous with his work. Being a busy hairstylist, I look in the mirror a lot, so I appreciated his eye for detail. It's not everyday I write reviews, but I truly feel a lot of people out there are in search of a good Dental group not only to trust but to feel comfortable at and at Matosian Dental I finally found that. Thank you for making me feel like family Dr. Alex!

This dental office is probably the best one I've ever set foot in. All the staff are so friendly and never fail to put me at ease, the office is clean and organized and Dr. ALEX Matosian has done an amazing job with replacing a missing crown on my back molar. I always leave incredibly satisfied.

In March of this year I had a horrible roll-over car accident necessitating facial surgery to reconstruct my jaw (as well as a tracheotomy). My painful recovery continued long after my one week stay in the ICU. I had lost one of my front teeth and the other front tooth needed a root canal and crown. Dr. Alex Matosian, his brother Michael Matosian, and his office staff are not only the kindest human beings ever, but both Michael and Alex Matosian are incredibly talented at what they do. I now have a three-teeth bridge (including two of my front top teeth) which looks incredible. I receive compliments regularly about how good my teeth look and how one would have no idea I was in such a bad accident. I highly recommend Matosian Dental to anyone needing crowns, bridges or any sort of speciality work.

Dr. Alex Matosian and his staff are quite frankly the best dentist office I have ever been too! I feel comfortable and safe in Dr. Matosian's hands. I had to have a front tooth implant last year, which required a series of work over multiple office visits. Dr. Matosian always took great care and was very gentle with every visit. I'm a happy patient and would recommend Matosian Dental to anyone needing a great dentist for either routine care or for more involved dental work.
