The orthodontic practice was started in the 1950 's by my late father, Dr. Bruce T. Mathias, and was relocated from downtown Harrisburg to its present location in 1960. After graduating from Trinity High School in 1976, I followed the path toNorth Front Streetvia Bucknell University (1980), the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland (1984), completing my formal education with a masters degree in orthodontics from Georgetown University in 1989. I joinedmy fatherthat year and after ten years together, he retired 'unofficially.'Icontinue the practice today, more than 60 years from its origins on Pine Street, as a solo practioner - an orthodontic specialist-supported by an experienced and friendly staff.

I went there a couple years ago and had a full set of braces. I absolutely hated going there as a teenager, they played the news on the tv in the waiting room that mentioned horrible stuff that was going on which kids don't like or need to hear that kinds of stuff. The assistants were great, but the Doctor was so unfriendly and I felt so uncomfortable when he was there. He just walked in said "smile" then walked out. So I only saw the guy for 2 seconds my whole visit. When I got my braces off I still had glue on my teeth and still have it to this day that he never removed for me. My bottom teeth were still crooked when he took my braces off and I didn't even like the shape my teeth were in and he never fixed my bite. After almost 2 years of going there, it was the worst experience and I never had all my problems fixed after spending all that money.

I would highly recommend going to Dr. Craig Mathias. Him and his staff are very down to earth. Just a great overall experience every visit for both my daughter and I. We look forward to going back.

Wasted over a year at this place. Zero change to my son's teeth. Dr. Mathias Craig is 100% only after services he can bill to insurance companies. Not to mention he is not friendly and does not try to explain what course of action he plans to take with your child's Ortho care. Receptionists and aides do their best by I'm certain they get very little joy from working with that man. Avoid this place at all costs. Do your research and find another reputable Ortho that takes your insurance. You will thank me for it!

Only been a patient for 3 months and on our second visit they lost my daughter's chart, lost her insurance information i KNOW I provided (and then blamed me) and after sending in a release of information in April to my daughter's previous dentist they still never sent the information to her insurance and my request for treatment was denied based on the fact they did NOTHING. I very upset because you would expect a orthodontist to handle themselves more professional.

My daughter has been going there for the past 3 years for braces. Just today at her appt she was told that all 4 of her wisdom teeth need to be out before they can take off the braces. Why in the past 3 years has this not been said until now. He is only after the insurance money and that is it. I will be turning his butt into the insurance commissioner and into my insurance company for fraud.

I've been taking my daughter there and every time she's been seen Dr. Mathias never really looks at her braces or anything. He just waits and as we are leaving to check out says let me see and just says good but never really looks at her teeth . He is very lazy and rude .His receptionist is over worked they can't even give you appt.reminders because I was told she doesn't have time because she has to do it all. Then if that's not enough you can smell alcohol from his breath he should not be in practice working on kids teeth .My daughter just wanted her braces off at this point.There is a dental assistant there by the name of Asa. She was very friendly and polite which I know it has to be hard being that she also seems over worked and unappreciated.

Took my older two there after a referral from their dentist and insurance. Doc was great with my son about easing his concerns and very straightforward and friendly. Bedside manner goes a long way with me, and I really liked his. Looking forward to him fixing up the kiddos mouths!
