In the 1940s, Dr. Spearin began a comprehensive dental practice in Bellingham that he ran for 30 years. Then in 1973, Dr. James McCallum acquired the practice and moved the office to our current location on Squalicum Parkway. After working overseas in the Navy, Dr. Carr joined the practice with Dr. McCallum. The two doctors worked together for five years before Dr. Carr took over the practice in 2002.
Dr. Dorsch graduated from the University of Washington (UW) School of Dentistry in 1998. After completing the program, he practiced dentistry in a private practice. He also taught as an affiliate faculty member at the UW School of Dentistry and the Bellingham Technical College Dental Assisting Program. Before joining our practice in 2008, Matt also practiced at the Tulalip Indian Tribe's Public Health clinic.
Born and raised in Bellingham, Kathy attended Shoreline Community College and Western Washington University. She has been serving our patients as a Registered Dental Hygienist since 1989. In her time outside of work, Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband and pets.
Laurel is a Bellingham native and attended the University of Washington, followed by Lake Washington Technical College where she received her dental hygiene degree in 2010. Laurel is very enthusiastic about dental hygiene and her patients' overall oral health. She enjoys all aspects of dental hygiene, but especially seeing the transformation from disease to stability and health, achieved through a combination of therapy, motivation and education. Laurel and her husband, Nick, welcomed their son, Hunter, in 2012 and spend most of their time chasing after him and their dog, Chase.
Sheri graduated from the Oregon Institute of Technology's Associate Degree Dental Hygiene program in La Grande, Oregon, in 1986. She has been a practicing registered dental hygienist since 1986, and a member of the Dorsch Family Dental staff since 2001.
A native to Whatcom County, Collette earned her dental assistant credentials from Bellingham Technical College in 2009, and has been treating patients with us since her graduation. She loves the outdoors and is an avid competitive horseback rider.
Mia works in our front office, filing and tracking all patient insurance claims. She's been a part of the Dorsch Family Dental team since the summer of 2011. Prior to working with us, she spent 12 years in the physical therapy field.
Graduated from BTC in 1986 where she got her dental assisting credentials. She enjoyed assisting for about 15 years and then became involved with the front office duties. She has been a part of this practice for a little over two years.
Two to three times each year, our doctors donate adult dental services at the local non-profit health care provider, Interfaith Community Health Center (ICHC). The mission of ICHC is to improve health care access, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
Every year we donate to the local non-profit college sponsorship organization Bellingham Dollars for Scholars. Through this program, we award a scholarship to support Bellingham High School students who are planning to study pre-health sciences at the University of Washington.
The goals of the non-profit organization Puget Sound Anglers include the preservation, protection and enhancement of sport fisheries in Washington state. We support our local Bellingham chapter, and sponsor the kids' prizes at their Salmon Derby event. The Salmon Derby is a three-day, kid-friendly fishing event in which all the proceeds are donated to local salmon enhancement programs and fish hatchery projects.
In our office, we encourage active and healthy lifestyles. The Dorsch Family Dental practice continues to be a sponsor for a local youth volleyball team, and we have supported basketball and flag football teams in partnership with the Bellingham Boys & Girls Club.

I always know I am in good hands when I go to Dr. Dorsch's office. Not only does Dr. Dorsch have a keen eye for detail, he is also very understanding of my dental anxiety and goes the extra mile to make sure I feel comfortable while in the dental chair. I am always very pleased with his work. His staff is also very nice and welcoming. Overall a great dental office, I highly recommend him if you are in need of a dentist!

I've been seeing Dr. Dorsch for about 8 years now. He's taken care of everything from a general cleaning to crowns. He and his staff have always been super friendly. The level of service is excellent and he takes the time to answer any questions I might have in regards to the procedure being performed.

Around six years or so, I started going to this new (for me) dentist. With trepidation I walked into Matthew Dorsch's office For what would be my my very first exam. It was on that day I was told I needed 10 crowns; 10 crowns that were all just as important as the next. I cried. None the less, my incredible dentist, myself and the excellent staff drafted a treatment plan. It is six years later and we did it. I just got one of the best check-ups thus far. I want to express my enormous gratitude to Matthew Dorsch, DDS' and staff for all the sweat and tears that were shed on all levels. Anytime I had a question or needed an adjustment everyone worked to bring that to fruition, without question Bellingham is lucky to have such good dentistry. I do recommend DR D. to any and all looking for great dentistry.

Dr. Dorsch is the finest dentist I have ever seen. I have never felt an ounce of pain in 15+ years of being a patient. He has always explained options in a language I could understand, which adds value to the experience. I have found him available and responsive in 'after hour' situations for myself and family. I have passed his name olong to several friends and family and they all rave about their outcomes. One of the best around.

I am surprised to see this guy is in business, but not surprised he is still running this type of operation. Dr. Dorsch made some major errors on my dental work in the past. The guy would not admit to his mistakes or apologize for them even after a another dentist of his choosing confirmed the errors he made to my bridge and fillings. My current dentist is now stuck fixing his poor work. He is lucky I did not sue for malpractice. Sorry Bellingham.

Charged for three services never rendered. Reported them to the licensing board and the department of health. Response: we don't deal with insurance fraud. So the state knows his office is committing insurance fraud and does nothing. Would not recommend this place. Went through Lori, the insurance biller, and Dr. Dorsch himself and it was never fixed. Still can't believe in this day and age dentists are openly committing insurance fraud.
