Gary Adams DDS received his undergraduate degree from The University of Virginia in biochemistry. Dr. Adams was in the distinguished majors program where he did research in the areas of NeuroBiology and Molecular Pharmacology. Dr. Adams received his Doctoral of Dental Surgery degree from The University of Maryland Dental School in 2000. Dr. Adams completed a clerkship in treating medically compromised and special needs also at The University of Maryland Dental School concurrent with his last 2 years of training. Dr. Adams completed a dental anesthesiology residency at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where he learned how to sedate patients using IV sedation dentistry. Gary Adams DDS has also trained at the Dawson Academy which is a an advanced educational facility focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ/TMD, occlusal problems, cosmetic dentistry, clenching and grinding problems, and teeth wear problems. Dr. Adams also has completed a certification course for treating orthodontic and orthognathic problems with appliances including the ALF and DNA Appliances. Such treatments have been shown to be very effective in treating sleep apnea, airway, and TMJ/TMD problems. Infact, Dr. Adams has learned that there is a major link between TMJ, sleep apnea, and the airway. These later treatments are a major specialty area of the practice.

Stay away! Dr. Gary Adams while performing a tooth extraction, had me in the chair for over 5+ hours and numbed up while he was going in and out treating other patients. At the end of it, he negligently left a piece of root in my gum (after I specifically asked him to take a precautionary xray). As a result, months later, it caused an infection in my gum and I had to go to another oral surgeon to have the piece of root removed. He said that he was sorry for leaving the root in, however he refused to pay for the cost of the oral surgeon to fix his mistake. Also, be careful in letting him shave down your teeth to correct your bite, he'll use basic analogies like "your teeth should fit like a puzzle", but he over shaved and now my teeth are sensitive to hot/cold. Go at your own risk. Hope this helps people avoid my same ordeal. Update: I have never been to this location, Dr. Adams was fired from the last practice that I was treated. This is the response from his old practice: William, we are so sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience. Please be aware that Dr. Gary Adams is no longer affiliated with Natural Dentist Associates. Trust me. STAY AWAY! He is absolutely terrible.

Dr. Adams and his staff gave me my life back. I had a complicated case which delayed me from getting care I desperately needed. From the beginning Melissa was compassionate, empathetic and solution based. Dr. Adams was a straight shooter. Melissa is a gem. I can't say enough about her. I went through with the procedure because of her. I can't forget about Lacey. She was also wonderful. Dr. Adams, Melissa and Lacey are the reason why my confidence has returned. Best dentist I've ever had. Clean, thorough, and really takes the time to get to know you and understand your needs. Everyone here is super friendly and helpful. I'm one of those people that have a lot of sensitivities (food and environmental) so it's great to be in a place that is very accommodating in that regard and just gets it. Well worth the price.

I had a root canal removed the holistic way after I heard they were bad news dr Adams did a wonderful job I would have just left the tooth out if it wasn't a front tooth but since it was I ended up getting a zirconia implant put in and so far it's good just waiting for the initial pain and fatigue etc to go away then heal then in 4 months I will be back for a tooth might even be back before that for my wisdom teeth the people here are very kind and I love That there are holistic and experienced dentist in this world such as dr Adams

I'll just say use caution and very costly $$$$. Not that great.. Please beware! Whatever the regular dentist charge he'll charge you triple and still use your insurance.

I don't even know where to start. This is HANDS DOWN the most thorough, skilled, and accommodating medical office I have EVER been to... and I've been to quite a few! I started having severe pain in 4-5 molars over the weekend. For over 6 months prior to that molar pain being noticeable, I'd been in and out of the Emergency Room 6x, seen 3 different Primary Care providers, and had several visits with massage therapists, a chiropractor, and an acupuncturist for abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and upper back/neck pain. I had also seen a "regular" dentist. NONE of those providers were able to identify what was going on in my body - which turned out to be something I had suspected for YEARS. Along with being the first provider to notice the size of my mouth and it's impact on my teeth grinding, the godsend of a doctor, Dr. Gary Adams, identified the root a major systemic issue: a failed and disgustingly infected root canal molar. IT WAS A NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE after he extracted that root canal tooth (and 4 other molars which might have been effected by the systemic reaction from failed root canal tooth AND terrible amalgam fillings). They were ALL necrotic!! The symptoms I mentioned before? The neck pain, the abdominal pain, the nausea, the fatigue... they disappeared OVERNIGHT. I woke up the next day HUNGRY for food and for life for the first time in a long time!!!! Do NOT hesitate to take your health into your own hands!!!! Trust your instincts! You know your body better than A.N.Y.O.N.E. if you take the time to listen to it. I listened to mine, and I'm so happy it led me to Maryland Holistic Dentist. If I had to choose a medical provider who has made THE SINGLE BIGGEST POSITIVE IMPACT on my life, it would be Dr. Gary Adams. No where else - from Florida, to Afghanistan, to Colorado, to Qatar - have I received the care and attention to detail he has provided. THANK YOU DR. ADAMS!!!!

A great place to get your root canals out and get zirconia implants. I was skeptical in getting implants but I'm SOO glad i did. Dr. Adams did a wonderful job in getting my messed up teeth fixed by taking out the gunky rotten root canals and replacing them with zirconia implants. A great holistic dental office. Melissa has been soo very helpful with all my questions and referral to family member not having dental insurance to other holistic dental offices with discounted rates. Highly recommend Dr Gary Adams and his team of people. What a pleasure to have them!!! Caring, Respectful and just simple very nice people!

I sought out Maryland Holistic Dentist because of the extremely thorough process they take to remove Amalgam/ Mercury fillings. From start to finish, the process was exceptional! They have the friendliest staff, the cleanest office and the most incredible Dentist. Safety is the biggest concern when it comes to removing silver fillings, so when i realized the great lengths they take to compete the entire removal process, I was incredibly relieved !!! I could be happier with the whole experience at this office and I am truly grateful for all they have done for me :-)

My experience with Dr. Adams has been nothing less of exceptional. He is clearly passionate about his work and has educated me along every step of the process with my DNA dental appliance. He answers any and all of my questions without rush, taking his time. Any interactions I've had with the staff make me feel like the only patient in the practice, their attention to detail and patience is outstanding. The DNA appliance has truly changed my life. After my car accident, I was left with a pretty severe case of whiplash, experiencing unending bouts of headaches, jaw tension, teeth grinding, and neck tension. As a licensed massage therapist, I did everything in my power to treat myself and seek treatment through some of the best chiropractors and body workers in the state. But, I only experienced temporarily relief. After 3 years of feeling like this may be a life sentence, a colleague recommended Dr. Adams for a possible appliance. Months prior to going to Maryland Holistic Dentist, I had visited a different holistic dentist office who had recommended an ALF appliance after a session and my experience there left me feeling like I was just a number and they were trying to sell me on the appliance. I never felt like Dr. Adams and their staff were selling me on anything. They guided me through some imaging tests and offered information that was educational in intention. They even helped me find a financing company so that this relief was within my grasp. A saving grace. I began to feel relief with the DNA appliance after only a month and have continued to experience zero headaches, jaw tension, and neck tension. My breathing has improved dramatically - I can now fully breathe through my nose for the first time in my life! Even my singing has improved! It has made a difference in my pitch range, vibrato, and volume - I have more air moving through my pipes. I cannot recommend Dr. Adams and his staff more! Dr. Adams and his staff are the kindest, warmest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. Lacey and Melissa treated us like friends they'd known forever the first time we met. My 12 year old has major crowding and a very small mouth. The orthodontist we were referred to wanted to pull 3 adult teeth to make room. I was skeptical, and wanted a second opinion. Thankfully, I was able to find Dr. Adams, who is super knowledgable about expansion. My son has a Schwarz Appliance, which he wears 10 hours a day (mostly while he's sleeping). He received the appliance in May and we've already seen so many changes. He is no longer a mouth-breather; his chronic congestion has disappeared; his voice is no longer nasally; he claims to be getting better sleep/ feeling more rested; his two front teeth were angled and almost overlapping, but now they are straight and he has room between them; we are hoping to see his two adult teeth which have yet to erupt begin to come in now that there is room. My 10 year old has received a Schwarz Appliance, and while his case is not as severe, we know that Dr. Adams is going to make it possible for him to avoid a lot of negative health problems caused by oral ties and an underdeveloped jaw. Dr. Adams is so gentle and patient, and he's great with kids, even ones who normally don't like the dentist! His office is beautiful and welcoming.

Dr. Adams is a dentist who knows his stuff! I had 2 out of 4 of my root canals removed and took the time to make sure I understood EVERYTHING. He explained everything with such expertise and confidence. He had amazing bedside care towards me and you can tell he loves what he does. I drove from North Carolina just to have him do this work. He was the only dentist I could find on the east coast that had as much knowledge and insight readily available about my specific concern (root canal removals). I feel so much better overall with these 2 dead teeth removed and I can't wait until I can afford to get the other two removed. I was so pleased with him and his entire office staff. You will not be disappointed with him. May God continue to bless him and his hands.

Dr. Adams fixed my two front teeth when it was recommended that I get a bridge to replace them. His reviews were excellent for non-metal implants, so I took a chance and am so happy with the results. My bite is so much better since he did this work, I am so amazed and thankful. Thank you so much Dr. Adams!

I have been going to this office for several years. But my 5-year old son and I have been seen there. Their practice is one of the best I've ever experienced for dental. That sounds good enough as is but what stands out the absolute most from every time I've gone and from every call I've had with them is that they are probably the most caring medical / dental office I've ever come across. You can feel it in how they speak with you, how they work with you and how the handle even the mundane typical appointment steps. They really stand out and treat you like family. I've had amalgam fillings removed and replaced to regular checkups and cleanings. Also they are wonderful with kids, helping them and me feel more at ease.

My family has had great experiences with the doctors and staff at Maryland Holistic Dentist. They are all very professional and kind. They take the time to both listen, and talk with us. They are quick to address our concerns, and I have always been able to contact them whenever I needed help. All four of us have had previous bad experiences at other dental offices, and we all had a reason to be nervous going to a dentist. We are so happy we found MD Holistic. We have absolutely no complaints, and highly recommend this practice!

After hearing about the ALF appliance and its benefit to help with crowding and other mouth/teeth issues I was able to find that Dr. Adams provides this treatment as well as treatment with the Schwartz appliance (provides expansion of jaw/mouth). I took my 12-year-old for an initial consultation with Dr. Adams to see if she would be able to start treatment with one or both appliances. During the consultation, Dr. Adams took the time to explain every detail about the appliances and treatment. He explained the benefits and corrections they could make. We decided to start treatment with the Schwartz appliance for the top and the ALF appliance for the bottom. We went for monthly visits for adjustments of the ALF appliance and overall check on how the treatment was going. After 7 months of treating with these appliances her teeth are noticeably straighter and there is more room in her mouth for her adult teeth. Also, she no longer snores, grinds her teeth, and doesn't have frequent dry mouth or lips. She will continue with only a bottom appliance to correct crowding (we knew this would be the plan due to more crowding on the bottom). I highly recommend Dr. Adams and I am so glad to have found him. He is very knowledgeable, and I appreciate him taking the time to explain everything at each appointment never making me feel rushed or not knowing anything. Also, I personally had a consultation visit with Dr. Ung about my fillings and other possible dental work I knew I needed. During the consultation Dr. Ung was able to correct something that had been bothering me and I wasn't sure if it could be corrected without a separate visit, extensive treatment, or high costs. It may have seemed like a small correction to her, but it made a huge difference and I am so very thankful. During the consultation she went over the work she recommends I need which wasn't a surprise as I knew I would need additional work past the initial consultation. Dr. Ung was so very nice and like Dr. Adams took the time to explain everything. She was very conservative in her recommendations as well which I appreciated. I also want to mention the Hygienist and the office staff as they can make a big difference in a patient's experience as well. They too are very knowledgeable are very nice and take their time with us with every call and visit. I can't recommend Dr. Adams, Dr. Ung, and the staff enough. I drive over and hour and half to the office and I'm glad to have found them.
