Dr. Maryam Hashemi received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University in New York City and completed her specialty training in orthodontics at the postgraduate program at Columbia as well. Upon graduation, she taught as a part time clinical instructor for three years in the same department and has since been creating beautiful smiles for over 20 years.
She is a nature lover and likes to travel with her family. She also enjoys watching documentaries, especially the works of Ken Burns, which she calls masterpieces. A few of her favorites include Americas Natural Parks, The Men Who Built America,Baseball, Jazz and The Brooklyn Bridge.
By regularly participating in continued education, Dr. Hashemi stays current on the latest advances in orthodontics. She is a member of several professional associations that provide her with opportunities for continuing education.
Dr. Hashemi is very happy to live and work in a wonderful community. Each year, she leads the practices Candy Buyback Program, which gathers Halloween candy and sends it in care packages to our troops.
My career in the dental field began in 1996 and I joined Dr. Hashemis practice in 2004. Being part of a team that helps patients achieve confidence and a healthy smile is very rewarding. I especially love interacting and building relationships with our patients and their families; it makes each visit fun and filled with laughter! When Im not working, I enjoy spending my time with family & friends.
I have been with Dr. Hashemi for over 18 years and my favorite part of working here is being able to speak with our patients and their families. I enjoy hearing about their accomplishments in sports or other activities and always feel a little sad when their treatment is completed! In my spare time, I like to visit flower nurseries and spend time with my husband and three grown children.
I have been a part of Dr. Hashemis practice since I was 18 years old. While working here, I also took courses part time and now I am proud to have become a Dental Hygienist! In my spare time, I enjoy walking in the park and spending time in nature with my siblings.
Orthodontics is a dental specialty that involves correcting teeth that are improperly positioned. Here at the practice of Maryam Hashemi, DDS, we are proud to offer our customers comprehensive care and state-of-the-art orthodontic services.
Orthodontists primarily treat malocclusions, which are often referred to as bad bites. Malocclusions and misalignments can be caused by a variety of problems in the mouth, but in general can be identified by teeth not lining up correctly when biting down. We not only straighten crooked teeth, but also focus on the development of the jaw and facial bones.
While orthodontics can be considered cosmetic, it is important to fix alignment issues for overall oral health. Teeth that are crooked or do not line up are the perfect place for food and bacteria to hide and if misaligned teeth become hard to clean, it can lead to cavities and other problems down the line.

Dr. Hashemi is the BEST orthodontist ever! She is very professional, caring, very knowledgeable and a perfectionist. She takes the time to explain what needs to be done and answers any questions or concerns you may have. I have a had braces when i was a teenager, but unfortunately, my teeth shifted because I never used to wear my retainers. Dr. Hashemi made me feel comfortable to get braces again. She made my experience easy and painless. I couldn't be happier with my results! Dr. Hashemi and her staff are truly amazing. Always warm and welcoming! The office always has a positive and friendly vibe as soon as you walk in. Marlene is extremely accommodating with appointments and availability. The office is very clean and beautiful. I'm always offered something to drink and my son loves the toy box! My gratitude for Dr. Hashemi and her staff goes beyond the stars! It's not easy to find a good orthodontist that is caring, compassionate, and truly concerned about your overall dentistry health and happiness. This is why I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Hashemi!

Dr. Hashemi was kind and attentive to my care when I had braces as a teenager. She was very responsive years later when I needed to confirm that my retainer was the correct fit.

Everyone is so nice! Marlene calls ahead to confirm appointments and is always a sunny face when you enter! My two sisters and I all had our braces done by Dr. Hashemi and now our teeth are perfect! The office is always clean, and the decor is so cute! The staff are accommodating with appointments, and your teeth wont be disappointed with results.
