The San Gabriel Valley Dental Society is the local component of the American Dental Society and the California Dental Association. San Gabriel Valley Dental Society is comprised of over 1000 member dentists who practice within the San Gabriel Valley.
The privilege of being a dentist comes with a responsibility to society and to fellow members of the profession to conduct ones professional activities in a highly ethical manner. California Dental Association (CDA) members agree to abide by the tenets embodied in the American Dental Association (ADA) Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct (ADA Code) and the CDA Code of Ethics.
We began as part of the District of Los Angeles County Dental Society, a component of the State Dental Society, which was a constituent of ADA. At that time, Los Angeles County was divided into five societies. The societies werent recognized by the ADA or State, they were simply known as 'LA County.'
In the early 1960s each of the five areas became independent 'components' with defined borders. In 1966, the Second District Dental Society officially changed its name to the San Gabriel Valley Dental Society. Our current Society building was purchased 1989 and remains where the Board of Directors holds their meetings and the Society functions are held.
Today, San Gabriel Valley Dental Society is comprised of over 1,000 dentists with 70% of the market share. We are a diverse group of individuals and welcome new members to join us. Our members are dedicated to the profession of dentistry and to serving the publics oral health needs. We support one another with continuing education, resources, and advocacy.
Interests:Originally from the midwest and enjoys travelling back there during the snowy season. Has 3 kids 5 and under who love to help bake and cook in the kitchen! Loves playing board games with friends and family.

I had a significant amount of dental work, done over a period of five weeks with Dr Chess Abelson, during which time, she rehabilitated some thirty odd years of poor dental hygiene habits. Thanks to her considerable skills, she was able to make my negligence, almost consequence free. I really like the lab she uses for cosmetic work, it is they I credit for still being able to enjoy a steak, or even a tougher, London broil. She is an animal lover, who rescues the not so pretty one's, from the pound. They wander the several acre compound, on a pink cloud, that anyone would take them, at all... A holistic, experience, all in all. I recommend her, highly.

My friend recommended this dentist to me and I loved my experience there. The mid century office is set back in a beautiful setting with large windows making it an exceptionally serene place to get your teeth taken care of. Dr. Chess-Ablelson is really great too. Kind, warm and has a gentle touch. I recommend her to all of my friends.

This dental office is awesome!!! This is a father/daughter practice and they are great. Dr. Tom Chess is "old school"!! Dr. Mary is "new school" and is perfect for families with young children!!! TV's in every operatory, digital xrays, and the best staff ever!

Shady business practice, I would not recommend this place to anyone. I was recommended by my orthodontist to get a dental clearance. I made a call, told them why I will be seeing them and asked few questions regarding the cost. Upon agreement, I made an appointment. Today I showed up and just about to get my x-ray taken and everything. I asked them again regarding the pricing and guess what? The price is doubled. They could not give me a clear answer how and why. Doing business is all about trust and they cannot be trusted. Again, make sure they charge you correctly and don't let them fool you.
