At the Campbell Clinic, we are proud that our fellowship program has four fellowship trained Foot and Ankle surgeons from different training programs which brings different perspectives to patient care and your education. As a fellow in our program, you will be exposed to the full complement of orthopaedic foot and ankle procedures including trauma, arthroplasty, sports injuries and arthroscopy, forefoot, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, diabetes/Charcot, and deformity correction with fine wire frames. The busy Foot and Ankle service provides you with a plethora of operative and clinical learning opportunities as there are two fellows and two residents for the four staff. The Campbell Clinic is a private practice, but is also the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery for the University of Tennessee. As the institution that publishes Campbells Operative Orthopaedics, there is a significant infrastructure available to you to assist with any projects you wish to complete, including a librarian, editors, artists, research nurses, statisticians, and biomedical engineers. As a fellow in our program, you will participate fully in clinical and surgical settings, weekly didactic/research conferences, fellows courses, and assist with resident education.

We firmly believe in providing you with ample time for reading, research, and enjoying your surroundings during the fellowship year in Memphis, TN. There is no mandatory call, which leaves your weekends and evenings free to reflect on your work and preparation for upcoming cases or conferences. This fellowship participates in the match program. All applicants must have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency in orthopaedic surgery, and be eligible to obtain medical licensure and DEA certification in the states of Tennessee and Mississippi.

The fellowship will include a basic research component, and Fellows will be expected to complete either a clinical or a basic science research project. The orthopaedic skills laboratory and the basic science laboratory will be available for these projects, and Fellows will be mentored during the laboratory experience.

Another important component of this fellowship is a critical analysis of the literature. This will be accomplished through the Journal Club, in which you will be given instructions on evidence-based medicine and will critically evaluate the current literature.

Teaching skills will be promoted. Fellows will give lectures during foot and ankle conferences and complete a self-directed reading program. This is a one-year fellowship after completion of residency training. Your progress will be monitored by the attendings through the weekly conferences and day-to-day presentations of cases. Your surgical techniques will be monitored as well.
