Founded and funded by Newporters in 1873, Newport Hospital began as a 12-bed cottage hospital on donated land. In an era when most of the sick were cared for at home, a hospital was deemed a necessity for those whose homes were elsewhere: fishermen, military, and others who worked the bay and ocean. Since its inception Newport Hospital has kept pace with advances in medical technology and the needs of the community. Due to the generosity of supporters it is now a state-of-the-art, award-winning health care facility that offers a broad range of medical services, including emergency care, diagnostic imaging, a birthing center, behavioral health unit, comprehensive surgical services, intensive care, acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, and has received the coveted Magnet designation from the American Nurses Association and Baby Friendly designation from the World Health Organization and UNICEF.

We had a very positive experience with this dental surgeon, and his team. The front desk leader was SO personable and friendly and really set the tone for the office. We had questions over the weekend and Dr. Ellson spoke with us on two occasions over the weekend, and was meticulous in checking on my son's healing. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for an excellent dental surgeon. Very experienced, accomplished, confident and reassuring.

The receptionist was a sweetheart. I called different offices due to an urgent wisdom tooth removal, everyone was giving the same story, 2-3 weeks. The receptionist understood my issue, she took in to consideration the urgency of the procedure and she was able to find a cancellation in the office appointments, and was seen the next day. Every staff member was professional and courteous. Had two wisdom teeth removed, I wish they were in-network for my insurance Cigna. Had to pay out-of network expenses, I found the price fair. Thank you to everyone once again!!!

Not helpful and unwilling to work with insurance companies. They informed me they would charge me more and then if it was too much I would get a credit. I then called my insurance and they told me to ask for a pretreatment authorization which the office refused and stated "If I didn't agree to that I could cancel my appointment and go somewhere else." They never answer the phone and play phone tag with people. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I need a tooth pulled, had an x-ray which I was willing to send to them from my dentist but then tried to talk me into a full mouth x-ray. In severe pain but would not see me until the end of July and I have insurance. Would not recommend.

Very efficient and no infections, so there's that. not very trauma informed. After reading that I have PTSD on my chart, made very weird and inappropriate jokes. The most notable being - after having to pin my head down to yank a tooth out - "oh you're being too good, I like when they put up a fight" !!! I immediately severely dissociated and left the office trembling with tears streaming down my face.

Highly recommend. I was beyond scared to get 2 teeth extracted and implants. Dr elson was very kind and made me feel comfortable and confident. The staff are wonderful. If you're at all scared of the dentist or oral surgery give this place a chance, they will change your mind.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Elson and his staff. He's done work for me on 3 occasions and in every case, everyone was low-key, super friendly, professional, and knew how to put me at ease. I would HIGHLY recommend this office as one of the best.

When having my four wisdom teeth removed, Dr. Elson removed a year old filling of mine and then wanted to charge me $400 for him to pull that tooth. After having my wisdom teeth removed I went back 4 days later complaining about extreme pain, in which he pried my mouth open and put cold water on the tooth he removed the filling from. I went back the 5th day saying I was in even more pain and he sat there and said to me IN FRONT OF MY FATHER, that I was not in as much pain as the day before. Turns out I went to the hospital a day later to learn that the whole time I had an infected jaw causing extreme pain. Two full weeks later and I still can't open my mouth nor eat hard foods.

I have to say that I am so grateful that they were able to fit me in when all other places would have had me waiting into October. As soon as I got there I could feel that I was in good hands. They made me feel so comfortable and it was over in no time at all. This wisdom tooth was so close to the nerve that if it was not done right it could have cause some serious long time damage. Thank God he gave this man and his team the wisdom to make sure the job was done with excellent care and professionalism. It's been 4 hours since the extraction and I am feeling fine. I even got a call from the front desk assistant maybe 10 minutes ago asking me if I was ok. Now that alone is speaks volumes. Not everyone will be satisfied and someone will always have some thing bad to say but not me. Thank you so much to all of you in the office.

I had to have a large infected molar pulled. I was in a lot of pain and they were able to squeeze me into the schedule the same day. I found the office staff to be caring and professional. I then met the oral surgeon Dr. Elson. He did everything he could to make me feel more comfortable. He did an excellent job with the difficult extraction, he explained what he was doing, and it was over before I knew it. I would highly recommend this office to anyone that needs any type of dental procedure.
