Dr. Benitez leads the medical staff of Vecino Health Centers. Having spent the majority of her career at Vecino, she brings to the position a strong commitment to quality standards and a passion for community health advocacy.
Board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Benitez was awarded her medical degree by the University of Texas HSC Houston. She also holds a Masters in Public Health with a focus on community medicine. She completed a family medicine residency with Houston Methodist Hospital Family Medicine Residency, housed at Vecinos Denver Harbor Family Clinic.
Dr. Benitez joined Vecino Health Centers in 2013, where she served as attending physician at Denver Harbor Family Clinic. Also in 2013, she joined the faculty of the Houston Methodist Family Medicine Residency Program and served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Texas A&M. She has served as Program Evaluation Committee Chair for Vecino and Faculty Leader for Denver Harbor Clinic Prenatal Program. In 2017, Dr. Benitez received a New Faculty Scholar Award from the Society of Teachers in Family Medicine. She assumed the role of Chief Medical Officer at Vecino in 2019.
As a longtime resident of Houston, and of the Denver Harbor neighborhood, Dr. Benitez is dedicated to helping the community thrive and making sure her neighbors always have a quality health clinic right around the corner.
After twelve years in private practice, she continued to explore her interest in public health through studies at the University of HoustonClear Lake and the University of Texas School Of Public Health.
Dr. Wades interest in public health programs led to a sixteen-year career in management of school based health programs as Assistant Director of Community and Personal Health at the City of Houston Health Department, where she also provided dental clinical care.
Mrs. Rosenzweig completed her undergraduate studies in clinical psychology at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and received a Masters of Education in Counseling degree from the University of Houston. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Approved Supervisor in the state of Texas.
She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Houston in the areas of trauma, cross-cultural counseling, and family therapy, and she has led an experiential training group in therapy process for Masters-level counseling students.
Mrs. Rosenzeweigs bilingual and bicultural background in counseling and behavioral health has been instrumental in establishing services to meet the needs of Vecinos pediatric patients and their families.
This health center receives HHS funding and has Federal PHS deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.
