Dr. Steven C Marrs has been a practicing dentist in the Tri-Cities for more than 30 years. Dr. Marrs is a native of East Tennessee. He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1978. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1982. He opened Marrs Family Dentistry in Piney Flats in September 1983 where he has dedicated his professional career to providing his patients with the best dentistry has to offer. He has three daughters; Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Victoria. He has one granddaughter; Ava Grace Marrs Bowling. When he is not practicing, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
Dr. Victoria A Marrs recently joined the Marrs Family Practice in June 2013. She was born and raised in the Tri Cities. Victoria graduated from Science Hill High School in 2005, and then East Tennessee State University in 2009 where she received her Bachelors of Science with honors. She created the Pre-Dental Society at East Tennessee State University to help others interested in the field. In May 2013, Victoria graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry where she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. She is married to Curtis Kipfer. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys hiking, reading, shopping, and attending church with her husband.
Lisa Bare lives in Abingdon, Virginia with her husband and their 13 year old daughter. She graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in dental hygiene in 1986. Her dental career began working in a pediatric dental office for 18 years. She then joined Marrs Family Dentistry in 2006. Her goal is to always focus on her patients while carefully listening to find out their dental wants and concerns. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her family and playing tennis.
Monica grew up in the Tri-Cities area. She knew when she graduated high school in 2010 that she wanted to study dental hygiene. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northeast State Community College in 2012, and then Magna Cum Laude from East Tennessee State University with a degree in dental hygiene in 2014. She started working at Marrs Family Dentistry in 2014 where she has enjoyed getting to know the patients. In her spare time, Monica enjoys being outside hiking, camping, kayaking, and especially rock climbing.
Tammy Johnson is originally from Greensboro, North Carolina until moving to Roan Mountain, Tennessee in 2002. Tammy has worked in the dental field since 2003. In 2003, she completed dental assisting school. She has worked as both a dental assistant and office manager. In 2004, she started working for Marrs Family Dentistry as the front office receptionist. Then in 2011 she was promoted to office manager. Tammy enjoys working with patients, building relationships, and helping them achieve their dental goals. She is married with two daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping with her daughters and going drag racing with her husband.
Rocky is from Bristol, Virginia and moved to Bluff City, Tennessee in 1991. In 2000, she completed dental assistant school. She started working for Marrs Family Dentsitry in July 2000. Rocky loves being an assistant because she gets to meet new people and build relationships with them. She is married to Ernie and has three children; two daughters and one son. She also has one granddaughter! She loves spending time with her family, shopping and reading.
Becky was born in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Johnson City in 1969. She graduated from Tri-Cities Christain School in 1982. Then in 1990 graduated from the dental assistant program at Science Hill Technology. She has worked for Marrs Family Dentistry for the past five years. She is married to Tim Lawson, whom she met when she was 7 years old. She has one son, Stephen, who is a senior a SHHS. She enjoys all sports but especially University of Tennessee football. She also enjoys riding on her Can-Am Spider.

This was the worst experience at a dentist that I have ever had. The receptionist does not know how to file an insurance claim then tells the customer they owe the balance due instead of trying to figure out what the issue was. The issue was that she did not run the correct insurance member ID number and closed the account and claim. Then said they was sending a bill for the remainder that they didn't even bother to file with insurance properly. I called and requested to file again, and they refused and wanted payment immediately. She then gets very rude and hateful and hangs up on us when we tell her what our dental insurance provider told us about them submitting the claim with the wrong ID number and to get them to resubmit it with the correct information so it would be covered and paid. She then told us that it was not her problem to fix (which it is considering that is her job). My wife had a cavity filled and a week later the tooth was hurting her worse than before the filling. Tried to see about coming back in to get the problem fixed and was told that there could possibly be another exam fee (this was 10 days ago... and we had already paid the deductible and 50% of cost, which is per our policy plan), the rest would have been covered by the insurance company had the office manager filed it correctly in the first place. We ended up paying the balance in full out of pocket and switching dentists. Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a dentist office!

Before I went to Marrs dentistry I was petrified of dentists. They are amazing!!! They talk to you and tell you everything they are doing. I also bring my two boys to Marrs and my grand children. They are so good with them. I wouldn't choose any other dentists. So if you need an amazing family dentist Marrs is for you.

First time here. Easy parking. Great staff and facility. I had a check up/ cleaning and then the doc saw me. All I can say is I really liked the way I was treated as well as the service provided. Found my new dentist!

I was needing to find a new dentist. When I called they were super friendly and were able to get me an appointment fairly quickly. My visit was with Dr. Marrs and he was a delight. This practice is a gem in a small town and the staff is beyond welcoming. I'm glad I was able to find a great dentist with a knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Dr. Victoria Marrs is the dentist you only imagined existed. I have been to dozens of dentists due to a childhood injury. Dr. Victoria Marrs, has provided the highest quality work I have ever experienced. Additionally she is conscientious of avoiding any discomfort for her patients and their time. I have never had a long wait there and challenging work has still been finished in less than an hour. My teeth have never felt better, and now look amazing. Give Marrs Family Dentistry a visit, you won't regret it!

Dr. Marrs and every staff member I have met have exceeded expectations! I have a little one (foster situation) with some difficulties (vision, hearing, emotional/behavior) and the staff were patient, kind, caring, understanding, and took the time to assuage her fears and anxieties. This practice is not only the highest quality of professionalism, but made us feel like part of the family!

My original inclination to schedule an appointment with Mrs.Victoria Marrs was due to a particularly painful and continuously developing cavity on my left cuspid, but following my first appointment it was entirely clear I would GLADLY return for any dental necessity. The staff and Mrs.Marrs are incredibly knowledgeable, amiable, and understanding to any and all who attend the dentistry. It is safe to say, without any doubt, the Marrs Dentistry in Piney Flats is apt and able to help any situation, with your comfort being the utmost value.

I have been seeing Dr. Steven Marrs and now Dr. Victoria Marrs for over 10 years now. NEVER had a problem with either of them OR any of the staff. I get my teeth cleaned there every 6 months and again NO PROBLEMS! This office is fast, efficient and caring. Keep up the great work!!!!
