Dr. Erika knew it was her mission in life to be a care provider. As a teen, she initially wanted to be a veterinarian but, due a traumatizing experience, decided that dentistry sounded more fun! Dr. Erika started out as a dental assistant and then attended Lansing Community College to become a Registered Dental Hygienist. Deciding that she wanted to be a dentist, Dr. Erika went back to college and graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and completed the University of Michigans General Practice Residency (with an emphasis in treating special needs patients in the OR). She then moved to Brooklyn, New York for her Pediatric Residency at Lutheran Medical Center, where she served as chief resident.
After completing her formal education, Dr. Erika moved, along with her brilliant husband Nathan and her two marvelous boys, Jakob and Isaak, to the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan to serve as the only pediatric dentist within a four-hour drive. She worked alongside her mentor, Dr. Jim Hayward, at the Marquette Community Health Department Clinic for a year. After this long educational journey, Erika Tyler D.D.S. opened her dream pediatric practice in Marquette on June 16, 2008.

Away from the office, Dr. Erika loves to rock hunt looking for that perfect agate along the shores of Lake Superior, putter in her garden, read historical novels, practice yoga, attempts to teach her rescue boxer Khan his manners and is restoring a dilapidated Victorian home back to its former glory.
Mr. Brad is one of Marquette Pediatric Dentistry's wonderful dental assistants. Mr. Brad specializes in providing a caring and fun environment for your child in our clinical area, and assisting in their proper chair-side care during their treatment. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Mr. Brad plans to become a pediatric dentist. In his spare time - you will catch Mr. Brad on the volleyball court, basketball court, or hitting that perfect yoga pose!
Ms. Lisa is the final in our all-too-fun cast of pediatric hygienists. Ms. Lisa has an incredible skill-set brought to us from the world of orthodontics to work with you and your child to create and maintain their healthy smile. Ms. Lisa is a Negaunee, MI native who loves spending time outdoors - skiing, hiking, biking, golfing, and time at camp make life a blast. Doing these activities with her husband, Derek, and daughter, make a good time a great time. Family time is the best time for Ms. Lisa, and we feel the same!
Ms. Taylor is an absolute Sunshine Pumper! Ms. Taylor assists our incredible pediatric hygiene team in our 'Big Kid Room.' Life is busy, and Ms. Taylor is here to help with that. She ensures your child's regularly scheduled oral hygiene checks are both fun and speedy. When not creating a fun environment at MPD, Ms. Taylor enjoys spending time with her husband, Cody, and their two children.
Miss Whitney rounds out our Dental Assistant Dream Team here at Marquette Pediatric Dentistry! In addition to helping provide a comfortable, warm environment for your child during treatment, Miss Whitney enjoys educating your family and answering any and all questions you may have regarding the growth of your child's healthy smile. Outside of the dental home, Miss Whitney gains her joy from adventuring with her daughter, Ariea, hanging at the beach, and lounging in her hammock!
Mr. Chris is our resident goofball - look for the man in the lobster hat! A graduate of Northern Michigan University, Mr. Chris coordinates our events, receives your feedback to improve your experience as a guest in our dental home, and takes every opportunity to play with the kiddos in our playroom. Outside of the office, Mr. Chris gains his happiness through time spent with his partner-in-crime, Olivia, celebrating another Green Bay Packers' win, and loving all things Star Wars!
Ms. Corey is an expert when it comes to keeping you informed, and answering questions you may have, regarding your investment in your child's healthy smile. Ms. Corey is a Yooper, and graduate of Northern Michigan University. Outside of the office you will find her spending time with her husband, hunting, and making you hungry telling you about the wonderful dinner she just cooked!
Ms. Karla is our magical scheduling and insurance wizard! A Yooper by choice, Ms. Karla moved here from Chicago at an early age. Ms. Karla has been bringing her three children, Meghan, Isabelle, and Marvin to Marquette Pediatric Dentistry since the beginning! When not working, Karla enjoys gardening, grilling, hammock-ing, time spent with her husband, Marvin, and her three children. Ms. Karla is proud to be with us at MPD, and we are lucky to have her!
Miss Elysa is one of our incredible Dental Ninjas! Her main goal: provide a fun environment for you and your children. Miss Elysa is close to our hearts here at MPD. A patient of ours for 10 years, the fun environment and learning from Dr. Erika was all Miss Elysa needed. She plans to become a pediatric dentist, and what better way to learn than being another fantastic part of our team!

Tried to make an appointment with this doctor and talked to an incredibly rude receptionist. I was recommended to this dentist by a friend, after being put on hold then taking all my sons information I was informed that they are no longer taking new patients!! So I then very annoyingly asked if they could recommend a different dentist, and shocker they refused to!! I then said/asked that there was NOBODY else in this area that could clean my sons teeth and the reply was a simple no. It is pathetic!!

This is the best pediatric dentistry that my family has ever been to. Everything is child oriented, from the waiting room to the restroom, to the operating rooms. Dr. Erica Tyler is the most caring dentist I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She cares deeply for every young patient she tends to and ensures that they all have a pleasant time and remain comfortable. The staff are caring and sweet and are always available to assist parents with whatever they need- even bringing cups of coffee to you in the waiting area. Dr. Erika takes the time to speak with parents, address all of their concerns, offers her opinions and then works with parents to create a plan for whatever treatment the parents and child are comfortable with. The staff uses positive reinforcement to help the children respond positively to each new process or procedure. My children- ages 5 and 2 both had an amazing time and left the practice excited for their next appointment. I will never take my kids to any other dentist and have already referred several family members and friends to this practice. You will not regret bringing your kids here.

Receptionist who deals with insurance and billing is rude and will cause angst at an already anxious time; miscommunications will occur that could potentially delay a childs treatment. Their pricing is exorbitant and they struggle to deal with insurance companies but will force you to deal with them or pay exorbitantly. They disagree with certain hospital policies and display a frightening lack of logistical professionalism. Nice costumes though

100% kid friendly. The atmosphere, the staff, the work being done is all geared towards the kids being comfortable and having a good time so that they enjoy going to the dentist for their entire lives. My 2y & 4y old had a great time.

My three year absolutely loved it. We are days out from his appointment and he's been begging to go back. I had to bring my infant along and the staff and Dentist were so helpful and supportive with her as well! Great experience. I recommend to anyone!

Their office is beautiful and makes the kids feel welcome. The staff was the nicest, it was so kid orientated and it made my daughter feel less scared. She could have stayed there all day.

Above and beyond experiences; 4 kids and 7 years running. Dr. Erica and team have managed to deliver animated and top notch service to our family time and time again. Her careful approach to educating parents and children without shaming or scolding is very impressive. This quality in a dentist has been invaluable to this mother in learning and processing through some pretty grim evals. And, they have bent over backwards to accommodate our schedules and drive time on more than one occasion.

My daughter was referred to Marquette Pediatric Dentistry from SSM, MI. We've taken the time we make the trips and have not regret it. Upon arrival at consultation, they welcomed us with open arms and have shown excellent hospitality. My daughter had extensive oral surgery last Friday, and Dr. Tyler made it a point to keep me in the loop with everything going on before, during, and after her procedure. My daughter has extreme anxiety and felt comfortable enough with Dr. Tyler which helped things go smoothly for a nervous momma. 10/10 would recommend.

Incredible! After struggling to find answers, accommodations, and resources for my son over the last 3+ years, I found Dr. Erika Tyler and her staff to be absolute Godsends! My son has ADHD, SPD, and is on the waiting list for an autism screening. Marquette Pediatric Dentistry is the first place I have gone where I don't feel like he's being treated as if there is something wrong with him! I was in tears as I pulled away because I was so elated that he got treated so well and enjoyed his time there. Every interaction was a positive one. They made me feel relaxed and talked to me about all the options we had to meet my son's needs. They are flexible; they arm you with all the information you need to make a decision for your child's health. The entire staff is awesome. The place is warm and friendly - not like most doctor's offices. I only wish every appointment we had went like this. Every kid deserves to go to a dentist like this one. Thank you all so much! I'm looking forward to going back soon! :)

Dr. Erika and her crew are so great we drive two hours one way for her services. One of my three little people has pretty significant anxiety in clinical settings. Her process to make kids feel comfortable in order to give them the best care is wonderful!

Dr. Erika was born to be a pediatric dentist. She was amazing and the whole team clearly loves what they do. I hated the dentist growing up and I was very nervous for this appointment because I don't want that for my son. But the moment they came to get us I felt safe, calm, heard, and that my son was just loved. This mama was thrilled with our experience and I haven't stopped talking about how impressed I was. So thankful to have such a wonderful resource in our community!
