We strive to provide patients with something extra. Throughout the course of patients treatment, we will provide them with friendliness, respect, plenty of positive reinforcement, support, and of course outstanding orthodontic care. The core of providing outstanding care is our commitment to the doctors being very hands on with patient treatment. Our doctors place all bracket, all bands, and bend all of the orthodontic wires.
We know that orthodontics can be overwhelming at first, and excellent communication is how we help to overcome that. We will always explain what you can expect during the treatment, at each individual visit, and after you leave the office. We find that patients who know exactly what to expect are more relaxed about their treatment. We welcome all questions from patients and parents, and extend them our knowledge and expertise. Our goal is to have well informed patients and parents who ask us any questions that they may have.
Randall Markarian was born and raised in Granite City, Illinois. Dr. Markarian was the youngest of four children to John and Anna Markarian. His two older brothers, who are both dentists in the Belleville area, paved the way for Randall to pursue a career in dentistry. After graduating from Granite City Senior High School in 1984, Randall attended Washington University in St. Louis where he was awarded a Bachelors degree in Biology in May of 1988. From, there, he went on to Southern Illinois University-School of Dental Medicine located in Alton, Illinois.
During this time, Randall received an award for outstanding research he had conducted and went to Boston for the American Dental Association meeting to present his findings. In 1992, Randall became Dr. Markarian when he received his DMD from SIU-School of Dental Medicine. A month later, Dr. Markarian began his Orthodontic residency program at St. Louis University. In June of 1994, Dr. Markarian completed the two-year program and was awarded a Master of Science in Orthodontics. Days after completing his training he opened his own office at its current location of 10 Park Place Professional Centre. Since then, Dr. Markarian expanded the office by first going to Columbia, Illinois in 2001 and OFallon, Illinois in 2007.
As for the personal side of Randall Markarian, he is married to Annette, and they have three beautiful children, Grace, Gabrielle, and Gillian. Randall engages in many interesting activities outside of the office. Dr. Markarian is an avid skier that never passes on the opportunity to head to Winter Park, Colorado, to enjoy the mountains. When asked about his skiing ability he said, Well, I think I am a good skier. I am, by far, the best skier in my family.
It seems that the love for speed does not stop with the slopes. Dr. Markarian has been seen enjoying watching and participating in various forms of motorsports. I always wanted to be a race car driver when I was a kid, he recalled. I have participated in various driving schools around the country, and I hope to buy my own race car someday. Dont tell my wife! We wont tell.
Another hobby, which it seems that many patients may have noticed, is that Dr. Markarian likes to play guitar. I do keep one guitar at the office to practice every now and then, he notes. Right now I have 28 guitars, many of which are collectable. And I do play them quite a bit. Dr Markarian has been in the local band, Audio Diary, for the last seven years playing at several major St. Louis clubs about once a month.
Dr. Markarian is also very active in giving his time and money to many worthy causes in the area. Currently, Dr. Markarian is the chairman of the St. Louis area chapter of the Smiles Change Lives charity that provides necessary orthodontic treatments to underprivileged patients that otherwise would not receive them. He is also very active in the American Dental Association and the Illinois State Dental Society where he has been president of the local society (St. Clair District Dental Society) and a Delegate to the ISDS annual meeting.

The best orthodontist ever . I had had a terrible experience with smile direct club and dr markarian stepped in and helped me out tremendously to get my teeth back in order it was a journey and a process but he got the job done . Never got to Smile direct club for braces they are terrible . Go to Markarian orthodontist for your orthodontic work . They are amazing and the staff is wonderful . You will get amazing results and you can be assured that Dr knows what his stuff . He is amazing .I can't express enough how much I appreciate my experience there .

We decided to take our young daughter to Dr. Markarian for some braces. It was a no-brainer to go there, since my grown step-daughter was going back to him and I went when I was younger for a consultation. I then decided at 40 to try to get my teeth fixed. He suggested Invisalign (wasn't out when I went to him when I was younger) and the rest is history!!! I love going to the clean, bright office. If I could rate higher than 5 star I would. My daughter and I have searched and searched for an orthodontist for the last year and have been treated very poorly each office we have been to We have never felt so welcome and comfortable like we did at Markarian Orthodontics.

I reached out to this practice as a transfer patient for my teenage daughter to simply have her braces removed. Her treatment had been completed at the previous ortho, she just needed her braces removed and a retainer. Upon them reassuring me they could assist, they requested ALL of her records from the previous ortho, and of course that was no problem. My daughter attended her appointment less than 10 minutes and I was then told by the "assistant" that my daughter would be required to do an additional 4 months of treatment "because the Dr just wanted to make sure everything was perfect" and I was quoted $1600 for 4 months of treatment. UNBELIEVABLE. When I asked for a breakdown, I received via email that they were going to redo all her xrays and records ALREADY GIVEN TOO THEM FROM THE PREVIOUS ORTHO. I was quoted $200 per visit which equals $800 when I asked where the remaining $800 came from I was told again by his "assistant" oh thats for the removal and retainer. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. I know we are all in a pandemic but respect your customers enough to not rip them off. WOW. SAD.

I have been going here since I was in third grade and I can say that I absolutely love Dr. Markarian and his staff! Everyone there is very professional yet they make sure you feel welcomed and are very personable. Vivian has also been very great to me with my last few appointments. I am now a Senior and very excited to finish out my process with them! If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

I give this Orthodontics a 4 out of 5 stars because the employees are all very kind, but I didn't give it a full 5 stars because there were a couple times when my Invisalign trays were way over due and my appointments continued to get pushed back. Covid was also no help to the situation, as it made scheduling appointments that much tougher. Overall I'd recommend this orthodontist because they do care about your final results and showed sympathy when I came in with any issues.
