I truly believe that a persons smile is his or her window to the world. It is extremely rewarding when I am able to help my clients achieve the smile and oral health they have desired. Dentistry is an elegant combination of art and science, and I thoroughly enjoy the skills the profession requires.
Each patient I meet presents a unique heath challenge, as well as a unique personality, so a day at the office is always exciting and new. I encourage each patient to become an active participant in his or her own oral health plan, acquiring a greater understanding of the ultimate goal of optimum oral health. The trust a patient places in me to help reach these goals is very gratifying.
I received my formal dental education at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1981. Since then, I have inundated myself with continuing education opportunities.
I am a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, which is an organization dedicated to continuing education. I also belong to an implant study group and attend the Spear Institute for Continuing Education. By constantly continuing my education, I am able to offer patients the best that dentistry has to offer. Techniques and products are always improving and its important to me that my patients can benefit from this.
A native of Orange County, I reside in La Canada with my wife Laura. We have three children Dustin, Kristen, and Caitlin as well as a crazy Chihuahua named Peanut. My free time is spent staying active, whether Im water or snow skiing, hiking, or practicing yoga.
I make sure our office runs smoothly from day to day and our patients have a great experience while theyre here. I enjoy working with the entire team to keep the office organized, and maintaining clear communication with our patients. I also enjoy helping to educate patients about insurance, procedures, and prevention. Dr. Deering works so hard to provide a high standard of care and Im very proud to work with him and the rest of our team. I spend my free time hanging out with my family, taking on new projects, cooking, and relaxing.
My job encompasses two aspects of patient interaction. While the hygiene services I provide in our office help to improve a patients dental health, the education for home care and healthy living is just as vital. I also love working with the rest of our team to provide patients with quality care and an enjoyable dental experience. When Im not in the office, I love to read, do yoga, and spend time with my husband and our two children.
I have worked as a dental hygienist for almost 25 years and use my experience to provide the most gentle, comfortable care possible. I like to think of myself as a personal oral health trainer; creating a hygiene program for each patient and seeing people's health improve makes my job worthwhile. I also enjoy helping patients understand their cosmetic options; there is so much that can be achieved with subtle changes. At home, I have two boys in high school sports that keep me and my husband very busy with booster clubs and fundraising.
