Dr. Mark G. Smith is a long-time resident of Northern Virginia, having graduated from Thomas Edison High School in Fairfax County and Virginia Tech. He attended dental school at the Medical College of Virginia and completed a General Practice Residency at Martin Army Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Afterward, Dr. Smith founded a dental practice in South Alexandria and practiced there for 18 years. In 2005 Dr. Smith moved to the practice in the Alexandria Professional Center. When Dr. David Pousson decided to return to his home in Louisiana, Dr. Smith took over his high-quality practice in Purcellville and is very happy to be away from the beltway.
Since finishing his residency, Dr. Smith has taken extensive training at the prestigious Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies in St. Petersburg, Florida. He also has received post-graduate education in sedation dentistry, dental lasers, temporomandibular joint disorder diagnosis and treatment, dental aesthetics, dental photography, dental implants, implant restoration, and Invisalign. In addition, Dr. Smith attends many continuing education courses through his dental society memberships and other organizations.
Dr. Smith has been involved in various community and charitable activities, including the Dental Societys Mission of Mercy and the volunteer Dental Clinic. He has treated kids from Christ Churchs Children of Chernobyl program and placed dental implants and performed associated surgeries in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Smith has also been a judge in the regional high school Science Fair, president of his churchs mens group, and president of the commercial condominium association at his first office. He has often been a delegate representing Northern Virginia at the Virginia Dental Associations annual meeting.
Debbie is a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she earned a Certificate of Dental Hygiene. Debbie also attended Old Dominion University where she graduated with a BS in Dental Hygiene. She is originally from Alexandria, but has had the opportunity to live in many amazing places in the U.S. and the world. In her free time Debbie likes to read, exercise, volunteer and spend time with her family.
Natalie Trerany is a 2016 graduate of the Virginia Western Community College Dental Hygiene program. She has volunteered at the Free Medical Clinic of the Northern Shenandoah Valley, Shenandoah Dental Clinic, and the University of Virginia Department of Dentistry. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University. And as a newlywed, in her spare time she likes to read, run, and play with their 5 year old yellow lab.
Emily Nunez joined Dr. Smiths team shortly after graduating from a dental assistant training program in 2016. Her background in customer service and other health care environments has given her the needed experience to help patients feel comfortable. In her downtime she enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling, and exploring local coffee shops. Because of Emilys love for people, she cant wait to meet you!
