Dr. Lawton was born in Odessa, TX and then raised in a rural farming town in Tioga, North Dakota. As a young man, he delivered newspapers and managed paper routes, all while dreaming of owning his own business one day. He gradually discovered that he had a genuine passion for interacting and working directly with others, as well as accomplishing tasks with his hands. He was originally introduced to dentistry through Boy Scouts while working on his dentistry merit badge. He discovered that this field combined all of these elements while also giving him the opportunity to create his own small business. Looking back now, it was absolutely the right choice!
Dr. Lawton earned his Bachelor for Science in Molecular Biology from Brigham Young University before pursuing his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. He graduated with Honors in Research and also received multiple awards in clinical and operative dentistry. He even studied in an exchange program in Japan and attended Meikai and Asahi Dental Schools!
Today, Dr. Lawton is still very passionate about staying up to date with dentistrys constant advancements and changes. He is an active member of the Spear Study Club, meeting every month with nearly 50 colleagues and specialists to study advancements in dentistry and complicated cases. Each year, he exceeds the required state continuing education requirements by several times over.
Dr. Lawton has lived in Cypress for the last 27 years and counting. He and his wonderful and amazing wife Rosie have been married for two decades, and they have three exceptional and talented teenage daughters. When he isnt busy at work, they love to do activities together as a family, such as kayaking, camping in State and National Parks, and volunteering at the church and in the neighborhood. He is passionate about serving others however he can, from engaging in community work for cleanup and recovery after Hurricane Harvey to working as an official at local swim meets.
Dr. Lawton is also an endurance athlete and has completed several triathlons, including three Iron Mans. He particularly enjoys running, from local 5ks to 50 mile trial runs. He even recently took on the challenge of running across the Grand Canyon, from the South Rim to the North Rim and back again in one day!
With 36 years of experience in the dental industry, Kim has been an invaluable asset to our team since June of 2008. She completed the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Texas and enjoys putting her education and experience to great use. Our patients love her dedication and warmth; Kim has cared for many of our patients since as early as 1999. She loves working with people and working with her hands, making her a perfect fit for her job.
Outside of the office, she enjoys baking, sharing recipes, and loves animals. Kim also loves to quilt, giving most of her creations as gifts. In fact, she has made and given away more than 300 quilts over the last four years! Her favorite celebrity smile is Julia Roberts, and her favorite quote is, In everything, put God first, and he will crown your efforts with success.
Lisa joined our team in 2005 and has 25 years of experience in the dental field. She received her Dental Hygiene Certification from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, and she stays up to date with yearly continuing education. Lisas responsibilities include performing professional cleanings, periodontal treatments, placing sealants, providing fluoride treatments, patient education, and much more. She loves that our practice welcomes patients like family and the team gets to know everyone on a personal level. Always striving to help out in her community, Lisa has volunteered at Bear Creek Assistance Ministries and has given hygiene instruction to preschoolers at Brentwood Childrens Academy. Lisa also loves Zumba dance fitness classes and says she has a real passion for it!
Lelia began working with Dr. Lawton in 2005 and has more than 26 years of experience in dentistry. As our office manager, Lelia is responsible for coordinating treatment plans and financial arrangements, comforting our patients, preparing the office daily, and ensuring that everything runs as smoothly as possible. Additionally, Lelia is a member of the American Association of Dental Office Managers and emphasizes the importance of continuing education. She loves our professional, positive, warm, and family-friendly atmosphere as well as her ability to utilize her excellent people skills to serve our patients.
Lelia says that, life is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the ride! Her favorite song is What a Wonderful World as sung by Louis Armstrong, and she enjoys traveling, fishing, snow skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Sheree joined our dedicated dental team as a registered dental assistant in April of 2014 with 13 years of experience in the dental field. She is certified in CPR, radiology, coronal polishing, pit and fissure sealants, nitrous oxide, and general dental assistance. Sheree loves providing dental care for all of our patients as well as the men and women of our arm forces at special military dental events.
