Dr. Mark Knott is a calm perfectionist, focused on providing the best care to each individual who visits his practice. His desire to understand his patients personal and dental needs results in customized care designed to promote lifelong oral health.
As a dentist, I have the great privilege of helping people achieve and maintain happy and healthy lives. I am able to prevent oral disease; rehabilitate the consequences of tooth decay, trauma and periodontal diseases; and help patients achieve their unique aesthetic goals. As an added bonus, I find my patients to be fascinating people; conversations with them are just as enjoyable as the technical aspects of my work.
As for the people I work with each day, I cant compliment them enough. They are a truly remarkable group with superb clinical and people skills. They provide treatment with great attention to detail and patient comfort, all in a timely manner. Our team makes patients feel welcome, comfortable and cared about.
With all honesty, I love what I do. Every day I get to complete challenging technical work, develop long-term relationships with interesting people, and work with a fun-loving, dedicated and exceptional team.
Dr. Knott is committed to staying current with the latest development skills, and new technologies in Dentistry. He regularly uses his leisure time to read Dental journals; sharing information with his staff and choosing appropriate techniques for his patients. More importantly and of much greater time commitment, Dr. Knott attends courses and study clubs to update and refine his skills. Each year, Dr. Knott exceeds the national requirements for continuing education credits. When you visit the office, ask him about his most recent learning experience.
Dr. Knott has completed the following certifications: Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (2019), and Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (2016). The Fellowship program requires 500 continuing education credits in various specialty areas of dentistry, and a 250 question, 4 hour exam covering all specialties in Dentistry. Dr. Knott passed this exam, has taken all of his credits and received his Fellowship award July 2016.
He achieved Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2019. A Mastership requires an additional 600 hours of Continuing Education. These hours include workshops and lectures in all aspects of Dentistry, but required that he follow a specific outline of credits in each discipline.
In 2007, Dr. Knott graduated as the Valedictorian from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He was also awarded the Clinical Dental Science Award as the most skilled dentist in his graduating class. While in dental school, Dr. Knott won numerous academic, research, clinical and community service awards from many organizations including the: Academy of Operative Dentistry, American Academy of Oral Medicine, American Association of Public Health Dentists, National Health Service Corps, American Association for Dental Research, Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics, Pierre Fauchard Academy, Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, WVU School of Dentistry and WVU Foundation.
MAGD stands for Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning Mastership takes dedication to dental continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Less than 2 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Masters. When you see a dentist with MAGD after their name, you can rest assured that they care about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. AGD Masters practice these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a year not every dentist does this. Only 2 % of dentists have this certification.

Rachel Hochman is a coach and practice management consultant for dental practices. One of these practices belongs to her husband, Dr. Mark Knott. In his office, she planned the interior design and created and manages an art gallery, show-casing local artists. The gallery is a win-win-win, patients get to see and buy local art, the staff is surrounded by beautiful installations, and the local artists get a lot of visibility from people who might not otherwise visit a gallery.
Prior to her dental team coaching career, she owned a tutoring business for eleven years. As the Wise Guide, Rachel tutored students in geometry, algebra, calculus, statistics, biology, chemistry, physics, and writing. She also mentored students through the college choice and application process.Rachel started her tutoring business after serving as an academic advisor at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Oregon State University and as director of the career counseling and internship program at Sterling College.
Rachel holds degrees in Biology and Ecology from Bucknell University, University of California, Davis, and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her undergraduate and masters degrees she researched wetland plant ecology and the relationships between rare plant populations, hydrology, and soil chemistry in central PA; fire suppression in the Sierra Nevada; effects of hydrological changes on anadromous fish growth; salinity effects on rice growth; and Southern floodplain forest growth and regeneration in response to dam-altered hydrology. Rachels passions are raising lamb, eggs and vegetables for her family and friends, walking her adorable Jack Russell Terriers, cycling, skiing, and generally enjoying the marvelous quality of life that Vermont has to offer.
