At Endodontics of Buckhead, we have the same simple goal for every patient we treat: get them out of pain and make sure they leave our endodontic office with a strong, healthy, and confident smile. Dr. Mark Barr is one of a very small group of dentists whore able to provide both specialized endodontic care (root canals) and complete dental implant services to help our patients save damaged and decayed teeth and permanently replace those that have been lost.
Dr. Mark Barr has over 20 years of experience as a certified endodontist, which means he completed years of additional training after graduating from dental school in order to provide an array of specialized services designed to relieve the most persistent dental pain. To this day, he still takes hours of continuing education every year in the field of endodontics and implant dentistry, ensuring our patients only receive the most up-to-date care possible.
Dental technology is constantly changing and evolving, and one of the greatest breakthroughs in the past few years has been GentleWave technology. It has completely changed the way Dr. Barr performs root canals. Instead of having to use small files to slowly clean out the inside of a tooth, GentleWave actually creates a vacuum inside a tooth using fluid dynamics. The end result is that more infected tissue is removed in less time while the tooth itself is better preserved.
Have you been dealing with an aching tooth for a while now? Intraoral cameras help him see your teeth close up and in high-resolution, digital X-rays will enable him to spot issues hidden from the naked eye, and surgical microscopes will ensure that nothing gets past him during treatment.

Its normal for patients to feel nervous about undergoing a root canal or getting dental implant surgery. Our kind and understanding team does everything it can to help patients feel at ease in our endodontic office, and for those who need a little more help to feel relaxed, were happy to offer multiple kinds of sedation. We can use sedation to effectively protect a patient from discomfort and calm their anxious thoughts at the same time, ensuring a pleasant experience from check-in to checkout.
Dr. Barr has been serving patients and rescuing teeth through specialty endodontic care for well over 30 years. He prides himself on embodying determination and always doing the right thing when it comes to his patients and the care they need, so rest assured that you are in very good hands here at Endodontics of Buckhead.
Originally from Toledo, Dr. Barr completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Toledo and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. He then went into private practice for three years before serving in the US Navy Dental Corps from 1989 to 1992, acquiring the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After his time in the service, Dr. Barr went on to complete his Certificate in Endodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1994.
Dr. Barr is proud to currently hold Mastership status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, which involves the completion of eighty or more implant cases and at least 150 hours of continuing education in dental implants. He is also an Associate Instructor in the General Practice Residency Program at Augusta Dental University.
Being able to alleviate human pain and infection in a comfortable manner for patients in need is very important and fulfilling for Dr. Barr. He also enjoys utilizing the latest and greatest technological breakthroughs in endodontic care for the sake of his patients. He is currently providing treatment with the state-of-the-art Sonendo GentleWave System. There are only three of these devices being used throughout dental offices in the greater Atlanta area!
Dr. Barr has a 22 year old son who is currently working as a commercial pilot and F.A.A. flight instructor. When he isnt busy at work, he enjoys doing anything outdoors, practicing as a firearms marksman, boating, and traveling. He also regularly serves as a clinical instructor in implant surgery in Guadalajara.
Dr.AvniMarugrew up in Owensboro, Kentucky. She completed a rigorous combined 6-year undergrad and dental program at Case Western Reserve University where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine. After graduation, she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Following her AEGD, she worked in private practice for a year before starting her two-year endodontic specialty training. Dr. Maru obtained her Certificate in Endodontics and Masters Degree in Dentistry with a Minor in Oral Pathology from Indiana University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Maru has completed training in complex endodontic procedures using modern equipment and techniques such as surgical operating microscope, microsurgical instruments, digital 3D CBCT imaging. Dr. Maru strives to provide the best dentistry delivered painlessly.

This is the best dental practice and the team. Dr. Barr is very thorough, informative and knowledgeable. He always explains every single step of the procedure.He makes sure that patients understand everything. I am glad I have been given the referral to see him for my tooth pain. I appreciate the team (Mo and Kari). They are very helpful and always been very patient to listen to my concerns. Kari is very warm, helpful and accommodating. Dr.Barr and his team are so friendly, caring and professional. I was scared to get a root canal retreatment done and they made it so comfortable and painless. It was a quick and easy procedure. I am going back to have another procedure done by Dr. Barr which I am waiting for. He always listens to my concerns and answered all of my questions. I have a chronic tooth/jaw issue which is not been resolved even after trying so many dental work and treatments. Dr. Barr helped me so much and always goes above and beyond. I had a previous root canal by another Endo which wasn't done properly unfortunately. Dr. Barr found that issue on my very first visit and suggested the retreatment. He is very thorough in his diagnosis. He is trying to help me to get some relief from my chronic tooth pain. They have state of art technologies and very clean office. I had an excellent experience getting treated at this boutique endodontic practice. Dr. Maru and her team (Kari, Ty and Mo) were nothing short of splendid. They made sure service was above and beyond anything else you can experience. Dr. Barr took a special interest as well to make some time between his patients to come and say hello. Office is clean and beautiful with lot of attention to details for patient care. Highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking specialized care with advanced technologies.

Dr Barr is by far one of the best dentists I've ever visited and trust me I've visited a lot. I suffer from TMJ and inherited bad teeth genes. I love that he is not money minded. Dr. Barr will honestly tell you if you don't need a root canal. On my last visit he was able to clearly tell me I have an abscessed tooth that needs extraction and wasn't worth trying to save with a root canal. I've had other dentists who take dental insurance say I need 4 root canals right away when that was not the case. His x-ray charges are some of the most affordable. They do not take insurance or care credit but if you want a doctor who is honest with you and has a super gentle touch Dr. Barr is the way to go. They also validate parking for up to one hour.

Dr. Barr was great. He explained everything very thoroughly and took time to answer all the questions I had. The procedure was very simple, easy, and comfortable (all things considered) I didn't feel a thing and my recovery was way quicker than I expected. His staff was very nice and helpful as well and helped me get an emergency appointment. I would recommend Dr. Barr to anyone I know.

Not only are they professionally qualified and do amazing work, but they also have the friendliest staff (a hard combination to find these days). Dr. Barr was highly recommended by my general dentist as the best Endodontist in the city. I can tell you that he absolutely lived up to this high praise. I had never had a root canal or any other dental issue before I saw Dr. Barr. I was extremely nervous and scared to say the least. Dr. Barr and his staff are extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient. I was shocked by the ease of the procedure. Dr. Barr eased my anxiety and made me feel very comfortable. Dr Maru is fantastic! My experience was just about painless. The way that she administers the numbing injection was so different than any other Dr. I could hardly feel the needle. She is very gentle and kind and extremely bright. She patiently answered all of my questions and even called me the next day to make sure I was ok. I have had several root canals with other Doctors but she is the BEST!

Five stars only because I can't give 10! The staff was friendly and helpful at every turn. Dr. Barr's explanation of what needed to be done was easy to understand and aided by clear imagery. Having the opportunity to listen to my choice of music during the procedure (I was told in advance of my appointment that I could bring earbuds) made getting a root canal AND a filling -- normally a morning to dread -- an easy experience. Dr. Barr's state-of-the-art technology made the procedures quick and pain-free. I'll never fear going to the dentist again.

Dr. Barr should change his name to Dr. Gentle! After having had horrible dental experiences I was panicked and anxious to have a much needed root canal. Not only did Dr. Barr take a long time to put my fears to rest but the procedure was absolutely painless! When I say painless I mean I didn't even feel the needles! He took an extraordinary amount of time to discuss with my husband and me my dental needs and answered my million questions with professionalism and patience. He made all the difference to me who has been traumatized by past agonizing dentistry. He and his staff were absolutely wonderful.

I am very thankful that I was referred to Dr. Barr. What a good experience my visit was! The staff was extremely courteous and helpful and the atmosphere throughout the dentistry was warm and welcoming. Today, I presented at Endodontics of Buckhead, P.C. for the first time for a root canal. Dr. Mark Barr D.D.S. and his assistant Ty performed the procedure. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Barr's compassionate patient care and expertise. Before starting the procedure, he went over my x-rays in detail and explained what had happened to my tooth. He delivered a realistic prognosis and explained the next steps in the healing process. His dental assistant Ty was equally as compassionate and dedicated. Both shared encouraging words and worked effectively together on my behalf. In addition to meeting my healthcare needs, they ensured my comfort during the process. I found the jazz and crooner music delightful, relaxing and a real plus! The front desk staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and very helpful too. I am actually looking forward to my follow-up visit. If you need an Endodontist, I highly recommend Dr. Mark Barr D.D.S.

Doctor Barr is the best dentist i ever visited. He was so nice and generous, he did way more than I paid for. I was not expecting to leave his office with so much joy. His staff and him are so helpful and caring. I would recommend anybody who needs help to go to his office. He takes the time to explain the whole procedure to his patients and I appreciate that. He probably is one of the best in Atlanta and beyond. I'm so grateful that I was referred to him. I pray God to always bless him and his staff

After nearly 3 months of pain following my first root canal, I finally found someone who could help me!! Three regular dentists & one endodontist tried to tell me that I just needed to give it time to heal. Dr. Barr told me he could help me... and he DID! He had to clean out the roots properly, insert healing medication & then repeat the root canel but I'm finally healing & out of pain. His technique is so pain-free that I couldn't believe the difference from my first procedure!! He is the best! You will be so happy with his care.
