Dr. Mark B. Hughes was born in Highland, IL. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, and his DDS from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He became licensed to practice dentistry in Arizona in 1984, the same year he opened his General Dentistry practice in Glendale.
Dr. Hughes service to organized dentistry began when he joined the American Student Dental Association, which elected him National Vice President 1983-84. Since then, he has served in many capacities, including but not limited to President of the Central Arizona Dental Society, Alternate Delegate to the ADA, AzDA Board Liaison to Midwestern University School of Dental Medicine (Glendale, AZ), AzDA Council on Budget and Planning, AzDA Council on Nominations and Elections, and Board of Directors of AzDA Services, Inc., the wholly owned subsidiary of the Arizona Dental Association.
Dr. Hughes and Mrs. Kris Hughes will celebrate their 38rd wedding anniversary in August 2015. The couple has raised four soccer champion daughters: Brooke (high school science teacher), Brean (Salon Owner), Lauren (Esthetician), and Shannon (Attorney). As of 2015, The Hughes have 6 grandchildren: Mason, Carson, Lanie, Brady, Kylan and Hunter who they enjoy spending time with.
As former President of the Arizona Dental Association, Dr. Hughes represented AzDA to government agencies and civic/professional organizations. He served on association councils and committees, appointed chairs to those groups and served as a Delegate to the American Dental Association.
Dr. Mark Hughes and his entire team of staff members belong to the Arizona State Dental Association and are CPR/First Aid Certified. His Glendale dental practice is an (OSHA) Occupational Safety & Health Administration compliant office.
Jennifer brings valuable experience from many facets of dentistry. She started in the dental field in 2001, and has worked in a variety of capacities. Jennifer is compassionate, effective in communications and is a great patient advocate. She enjoys traveling, music and gardening. She has 2 great dogs, Daisy and Olive, who keep her entertained!
Melissa has been a part of Dr. Hughes' practice for 11 years. She is a graduate of the Rio Salado College for Dental Hygiene. Melissa has a gentle and caring chair side manner and her patients love coming to see her. Melissa and her spouse James have 2 children, Lily & Jay, and enjoy family activities together. In her spare time, Melissa loves to shop at Target!
Michelle works in our office two days a week and has been with Dr. Hughes since 2008. She is a graduate of Rio Salado College for Dental Hygiene, and started in the dental field in 2005. Our patients love Michelle! She and her spouse Mika have 3 kiddos: Bailee, Jameson and Caden. They enjoy doing family activities together, and Michelle loves gardening when she can.
Mindy is an Arizona native who started in the dental field in 1996! She is our Lead Dental Assistant, and has been with Dr. Hughes since 2012. Mindyenjoys helping patients with their dental needs and making them smile. When not at the office, she loves spending time with her husband Mike and their dog Tucker. They are big sports fans, and enjoy traveling!
Rebecca has called Arizona home since 2004 and loves the heat!Since 1999, Rebecca has worked in various fields including the spa industry, working with seniors and dentistry. She finds joy in assisting Dr. Hughes at the practice and working with marketing operations.Rebecca and her partner Todd have 5 kids, so their family of 7 keeps them busy! In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys photography and reading.

I've been going to Dr.Hughes for years now, and I wouldnt change him and his staff for anything. They actually remember what you talked about on your last visit...meaning THEY LISTEN. NICE to see in this day and age. They get the BEST RATING from me, plus some. (And They all love dogs so that's a big plus in my book!) Posted by patient judi fogarty

Very happy with my Dr. Hughes and his staff. I switched to Dr. Hughes over a year ago after my former Dentist continued to try hit me and my insurance company for services I did not need. Very comfortable with Dr. Hughes and his entire staff.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hughes for many years. I came to Dr. Hughes after several horrible experiences with other dentists in the Phoenix area. By the time I met Dr. Hughes, I had PTSD from my past experiences . The minute I met Dr. Hughes, he made me feel calm and relaxed. He made me feel like I had just come home. Dr Hughes has taken amazing care of me and my family. I highly recommend Dr. Hughes to everyone I know. He goes above and beyond. I am so grateful to have him as my lifelong dentist.

I started seeing Dr Hughes for over 10 years. I came to him asking him to pull my back tooth. I had been to so many dentists. They would drill out and refill and was always in pain. He asked me if he could do a gold inlay to save tooth. I decided to try one more time. And sooo thankful I trusted him. No pain and I still have my tooth. Since then he has taken amazing care of my teeth and my children's. This is the dentist to go to.so thankful I found him.

Dr. Hughes us top notch as is his staff. He uses the latest technology and is very efficient. I recently had a crown completed from start to finish in under 2 1/2 hours. No temporary crown with a second visit to install the permanent crown!! That is amazing!!

I love Dr.Hughes and all the staff! I have had some terrible dental experiences prior to coming to this office almost 10 years ago! He is always on time, gentle, and understanding of my ridiculous anxiety at times. They are accommodating and caring and really go above and beyond to take care of their patients!

Mark does make you feel at home but I do not believe he does what is best for his patients. Unfortunately, I trusted Mark for decades. I started seeing him while I was in high school and most every visit, I had some procedure that needed to be done. I returned to the area after receiving my doctorate. At that time, I did not have full time employment, insurance, etc. He started to push that I get a crown done on a tooth that he worked on years before. It wasn't bothering me. When I would ask, he would say there was no sign of a crack or decay. I could not see why he was pushing me for this expensive procedure when I was struggling financially. He was aware of my financial situation and .... oh by the way, I also needed a filling. I decided to get a second opinion for the crown. There was no reason to justify getting a crown on the tooth in question, and I did not need a filling where indicated either. I switched to a new dentist years ago and now it is a rare occurrence that I need a dental work done. I have heard many very similar stories from others I know who were going to Dr. Hughes. Dr. Hughes is an expensive dentist but he makes you feel well cared for and like you can trust him. I believe the best thing for your health is to keep as much of your healthy natural tooth as possible. I no longer trust Dr. Hughes. I hope you are able to find a dentist that you can trust.

Dr. Hughes was referred to our family by my son's pediatric dentist Dr. William Heimann. I'm super particular about my dentist and have to trust them completely. Dr. Hughes has never let our family down. We've all had complicated dental cases that Dr. Hughes has solved with ease and a sense of humor. We absolutely love him!

I have to say this was the most pleasant experience in a dental office I've ever had, and I was getting a root canal done. Dr. Hughes was very polite and informative. I would recommend him to any of my family and am a patient for life.

My roommate referred me to Dr. Hughes when I moved to AZ. The care provided by him and his amazing staff is the best I've had!! No need to look anywhere else !! My teeth are happy:)
