I grew up near Schertz on my familys ranch, and graduated from Samuel Clemens High School and Texas A&M University. I have practiced dentistry in the Greater Schertz area since graduating from the UT Dental School in San Antonio in 1982. I am now treating many of my childhood friends and teachers, as well as the children of patients that I have known since they were children! I have watched this corner of Texas grow and change all of my life.
My approach to dentistry is to treat every patient in the way I would want to be treated. Therefore, I take time to review your overall health history and concerns, I listen to your input about your dental condition, and I dont rush you through. We use high-quality materials here that will last a long time while still maintaining a good appearance even after many years. If you need extensive care, we will work through the plan for that together and select priorities of care and pace of treatment that you are comfortable with and can afford.
I am a member in good standing of the San Antonio District Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. I attend continuing education courses throughout the year to stay informed of the latest developments in dentistry. In my spare time I enjoy being with my wife and three sons, ranching and exploring the outdoors, and participating in the community. We also enjoy anything that takes place in the Colorado Rockies or the National Parks. My favorite leisure activity is building mechanical things with my sons.
It is with great pleasure that we introduce Dr. Cody Strahler as Dr. Penshorn's new partner and successor in this dental practice. Dr. Penshorn has known Dr. Strahler for 3 years, and he is excited about the additional dental skills and qualifications that Dr. Strahler is bringing to this office.
Dr. Strahler is a native of southeastern Ohio who received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Marietta College. His doctoral degree is from the Ohio State College of Dentistry where he graduated at the top of his class and was recognized with numerous scholarly, technical and leadership awards. During his dental coursework, he was one of only a few students chosen to complete advanced training in oral surgery, prosthodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
After dental school, Dr. Strahler moved to San Antonio to complete the residency program at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. In this program, the residents work alongside specialists to become proficient in implant procedures, IV and Oral sedation, wisdom tooth removal, gum grafting, orthodontics, aesthetic veneers and complete dental rehabilitations. In addition, Dr. Strahler has completed over 500 hours of continuing education since dental school, including continuum training at the KOIS Center in Seattle. For the past few years, he has been treating patients in the private sector at a San Antonio-area group practice.
His interests outside of dentistry include fitness, travel, reading and spending time with family and friends. His wife, Erika, is a local middle school teacher and coach, and they spend most weekends finding new places to explore in Texas.
In April 2021, Dr. Strahler began working alongside Dr. Penshorn, providing both comprehensive dental care and treating in-house some of the more specialized procedures listed above that Dr. Penshorn has not done in the past. Dr. Strahler is a rising star among area healthcare professionals and shares Dr. Penshorn's focus on total-health dentistry. Come see us and our growing team!

I have to admit that when I found out Dr. Penshorn was going part time and bringing in someone else I was sad. But after meeting Dr. Strahler I have to say he is amazing. He takes time to get to know his patients and has made the transition seamless. The staff is friendly and I love all of the new technology. Dr Strahler saved my teeth and health. I had bad dentist experiences in the past. That led to bad dental health. Dr Strahler set up a step-by-step plan to recover my teeth. He takes care of simple, as well as, complicating procedures, such as gum grafts and implants. He also set me up for braces to eradicate a yearlong pain. All at one place! He used to work at a different office. My family and I followed him to his own new place. Wonderful, friendly team. Best dentist ever!!!!

I am so glad I found Strahler Dental Partners! I love that it is a private practice that does ALL dental procedures under one roof, and that the dentists here have won multiple recognitions throughout the years. After meeting both Dr. Strahler and Dr. Penshorn, I can tell they're both passionate and highly skilled at their craft. There's no place else I trust with my dental needs.
