Dr. Hansen attended UC Berkeley and received his dental degree from Tufts University. Dr. Hansen enjoys taking care of his patients, spending time with family and friends, volunteering, and exploring the outdoors.
I am a native of Sweden. I came to the Bay Area in the mid-1980s and graduated from UCSFs dental hygiene program. I live in Novato with my husband and two young children. In my free time, I like to hike, bike ride, and spend time with family and friends.
I grew up in the military and my family settled in Marin after being stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base. I attended Novato High School and the College of Marin, where I received my Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license. Ive been working in the dental field for over 40 yearsfirst as an assistant and then as office manager. Being in the field so long, Ive had a chance to get to know so many patients and hear about their families. The bonds weve formed make coming to work a joy. Moving up to office manager has given me a different perspective. Now I also get to help patients with financing their dental work and maximizing their benefits. In my spare time, I enjoy bowling, hiking, camping, and spending time with my two new grandsons.
Im a graduate of the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), where I received my bachelors degree in dental hygiene. A native of Sonoma County, Im married with two kids. My passions include entertaining, home decorating, reading, traveling, and watching my grown children discover their world.
I have been a dental assistant since 2001 and a dedicated advocate for sharing dental knowledge. I attended the Universidade Federal do Rio Grando do Norte in Brazil, where I received my dental degree. In the U.S., I attended the College of Marin to complete the requirements for my license as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA). I joined Dr. Hansens practice in 2013, where I have enjoyed sharing my passion for the work and providing the best care to patients in a comfortable environment.
When I graduated from high school, I thought I was headed into early childhood education. But when I was given a chance to start a career in the dental field, I jumped at it. I attended classes at the College of Marin and started out as a dental assistant in a pediatric office. I have now been a Registered Dental Assistant for over 12 years and have enjoyed every minuteespecially the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. Establishing relationships with our patients is one of the many reasons I love being here. In my spare time, I love being with my husband and our two children.

I tend to write reviews only when I have had a very positive or very negative experience. In this case, my experience with Dr. Mark Hansen was exceptionally positive and I want to share my recommendation. This was my first visit to Dr. Hansen, and my first dental exam since Covid. Dr. Hansen's office is beautifully appointed. The staff were professional, friendly, and on time. Everyone went to extra lengths to ensure that I felt comfortable and safe - explaining their procedures, Covid precautions, and ensuring that my experience was a good one. However, the big differentiating factor for me was that Dr. Hansen spent nearly an hour with me, as a new patient, going through my x-rays and explaining the health/status/recommendations for all of my teeth. In addition to x-rays, he also reviewed intra-oral photos in detail. This was a first for me - no dentist has ever spent that kind of time and attention to ensure I was so informed. There was no sense of trying to encourage me to have any additional work done, he simply provided the information I need to make the right decisions. I left feeling valued as a new patient, and impressed with Dr. Hansen's knowledge, integrity and genuine caring. It was truly a 5 star experience.

I have been going to see Dr. Hanson for almost twenty years. He is an incredibly skilled dentist and one of the friendliest people I know. His office is staffed by wonderful, excellent dental assistants, hygienists, and receptionist. I highly recommend him and his staff. I always feel very well taken care of and am highly satisfied with all the dental work I have had done.

Initially came here because Dr. Hansen treated my husband for a seriously messed up abscessed tooth around 3 years ago. We both have nothing but great things to say about this office. Everyone is super nice and incredibly friendly. Kathy, my hygienist, remembered that Ryan and I had gotten married, and when Dr Hansen overheard, he stopped what he was doing to come over and congratulate me. And it was genuine! Thank you to this office for all the kindness and low-pressure atmosphere. You never feel pressured or intimidated and they always come to you from a whole-health perspective. Keep up the great work!

Dr. Hansen makes it ALMOST fun to go to the dentist ! Not to mention, in addition to his knowledge of what makes your teeth last and your mouth healthy, he has a great sense of humor. HIGHLY recommend this dentist.

Came in to see Dr. Hansen for a second opinion. It took me 6 months to come in since my last dentist experience at a separate non related clinic in San Francisco. I had been traumatized by this other clinic having drilling done without numbing, and later to find from Kathy at Dr. Hansen's a bad cleaning! In fact they hadn't cleaned them at all! Dr Hansen and Kathy felt so ashamed of the poor dentistry I had received from a clinic not even related to them that they gave me new x rays for free! Highly recommend this location. As someone who is afraid of dentists this one I actually get excited to visit.
