Being a dentist is an exciting, rewarding, and fulfilling profession. For the past 28 years, dentistry has allowed me to work with my hands to create or restore beauty, and function to my patients, as well as alleviate pain and suffering resulting from dental disease and other oral health conditions. I feel honored to know that so many people in my community place their trust in me, and I work hard every day to make sure they not only benefit from the care they receive, but that they have a positive dental experience at each of their visits. I love to treat families, and to provide a dental home for all ages. This gives my life tremendous satisfaction. I thrive on changing perspectives toward dental care so that I am treating not just patients, but trusting friends.
I embrace the challenge each day to make a difference in someones life, and to be the person who can affect real change in the world around me. My chosen profession has done that for me, and continues to be a focus of opportunity in finding other avenues in which to serve my community, as well as those less fortunate. Born to life-long medical missionary parents, I was instilled with the importance of giving help and relief to those who are hurting or in pain. My father was an old-school country doctor who made house calls. I like to think I treat all my patients with the same care and compassion.
Not only do I appreciate being able to restore beauty and function, and provide relief of suffering and pain with my patients, but I also really enjoy getting to know unique and individual people who I strive to build relationships with. Each person is different when it comes to dental care, and I try to find and build on those elements of trust and comfort that produce long-term relationships. I search out those little things that make patients willing to relax, and feel comfortable during sometimes-difficult treatment, and make it possible for them to experience lower anxiety and stress while improving their dental health.
I work with an incredible group of like-minded professionals who have a commitment to be the very best. Each one strengthens me and makes it possible to refocus each day on being the very best we can be. Our patients sense it, and they know they are being treated ethically, professionally, and compassionately by each member of my team. They are all personally involved with each patient, and are striving for excellence to make every part of this dental practice, one our patients can feel comfortable with.
I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Loma Linda University, but my dedication to learning did not stop there. Continuous education keeps my skills strong and relevant. I love my chosen profession and desire to provide my patients with the most cutting-edge dental care possible. It gives me satisfaction to know that I am properly trained to give my patients the very best of what modern dental technology can provide.
A native of Marina, I moved back after graduating from Loma Linda University in southern California in 1985. When Im not designing beautiful smiles for my patients, I love spending time with my five daughters, who range in ages from 13 to 27. The purpose and love of my life are these wonderful girls. In my free time, I enjoy many and varied hobbies and passions, including traveling, being outdoors, fishing, sports, scuba diving, and fine woodworking. I also love cooking and collecting antiques, anything from furniture to vintage autos.
I also enjoy giving back to those who need my help and my unique skills as a healer. Providing dental care to underserved and impoverished regions of the world is something I do whenever possible. I serve my community through Rotary International, and am an active member of my church ministry.
Lisa, who has been with our office since 2006, loves getting to know our patients and putting those with a fear of the dentist at ease. When shes not assisting Dr. Holm chairside with procedures, Lisa can be found explaining procedures we provide, as well as comforting those who tend to be more nervous about visiting the dentist. A proud mom of a 23-year old daughter, Lisa is happily married and enjoys spending time at home with her family.
As our office manager, Melissa works closely with our patients to help them to get the dental care they need. Melissa, who is always ready with a big smile to assist our patients, works with patients regarding payments, handles most office insurance and patient billing, and helps keep us organized as a team. She feels fortunate to be part of a team that truly cares about the health and well-being of our patients. When not at the office, Melissa loves spending time with her beautiful, happy little girl, who is pretty much her life. She also enjoys woodworking.
