I love this practice! Drs. Gorton and Schmohl have been wonderful over the last ten years - our oldest two kids had braces and our youngest child had Invisalign (highly recommend)! We so appreciate Drs. Gorton & Schmohl's high levels of professionalism, knowledge, kindness and warmth, not to mention their attention to details and collaborative, transparent conversations with our kids (and us) regarding treatment options, time frames, and procedures. A huge thank you for the decade of incredible care (and great smiles)!

I have been a client of Marin ortho for the past ten + years and they always take care of me. I needed a minor adjustment and they handled it with ease and speed. I have received comments how nice a smile I have on several occasions and once from a dentist that I met while traveling. I feel at home there. Thanks

I can't say enough about Marin Ortho - they take such personalized approach to everyone's needs, never rushed, so very thoughtful to come up with manageable solutions, excellent results, available in emergencies...I was even told by 2 other orthodontists that my case was too complicated but Dr. Gorton came up with a solution and I am thrilled. We've had 3 people in my family be treated by them and the process and results have been A+.

I made a consultation appointment with them and was given care options for braces but strongly recommended to use Invisalign. As soon as I was ready, I had another appointment where Dr Schmohl walked me through how my teeth would be straightened, showing me projections of my teeth turning into beautifully straight teeth, a flat, uniform smile. The estimated treatment period was 9 months. I signed all the paperwork and began Invisalign. Having gone into this as a teenager paying out of pocket I followed the orders religiously. This proved difficult though because each time I came in for an appointment, the advice of the doctor would contradict the last. One would recommend changing sets every two weeks, then another once a week, and another two sets per week, and would be upset that their specific instructions were not followed. A little over a month in, I was told that I needed to use a device to help accommodate for the fast changes that they wanted to see. The doctor who explained the device did not mention any cost associated with it but when I was getting ready to go the secretary told me it had an out of pocket cost of $750. I said that I would rather not purchase it then, and she told me that the treatment would take 2x as long as initially anticipated if I did not buy the device. They really pushed the sale, looking back I would guess that they have a high commission or sales quota for these. So reluctantly I purchased the device and went home to use it. I was supposed to use it one hour per day, which I did religiously for two weeks. When I returned for my next follow up, I told the doctor I had been using the device, who responded with surprise telling me that I should not be using that device, it was a mistake that I was given it and to discontinue use immediately. On the next appointment, I brought the device back in and gave it to the doctor. This is where things really started to go poorly. It seemed almost every visit they either were not expecting me (I was always scheduled weeks out) or there was some issue with the trays. Attachments (bumps on your teeth) for the aligners to move better would be put on my teeth by one doctor, and then all removed shortly after by another who sees that the current set of aligners have no room for these attachments. This is an uncomfortable experience, breathing a lot of dust and damaging teeth by removing some of the enamel / tooth to be done completely unnecessarily. Today I still have some of these bumps / attachments that they forgot to remove. My treatment took much longer than expected still, instead of 9 months taking 14 months. When they told me that this would be my final visit I was surprised. The results were almost unnoticeable. The treatment actually created huge gaps in between my teeth. I asked Dr Schmohl about this and why my teeth looked nothing like the projections he initially showed me, he said it was hard to work with two of my smaller teeth, and that I should get them bonded which "will be inexpensive". When I persisted, he said that he did not do bonding but would refer me and wrote three names on a document. I visited all three locations, all of whom said that they did not in fact do bonding. One of them suggested that I do veneers for $5k! The cherry on the top was that they added back onto my bill the cost of the device that they didn't want me to use, charging an additional $750 for a grand total of almost $8,000. On my last visit they installed a "permanent" retainer which broke two weeks later when I was eating an apple. I called them to schedule an appointment and the secretary told me it would cost "about $500-$1000 to repair it", so I had my dentist fix it for free. It was clear in all cases that this office is more motivated by your pockets than your teeth, and once they have their services billed, they will not bother to help you. I am now being asked by my production manager to find a solution for straighter teeth. Dr's Gorton and Schmohl are a racket. If I had been smarter I would have disputed these charges. Stay away at all costs.

Cannot recommend Dr. Gorton and her staff enough! I was looking for a new place to get Invisalign after going through treatment twice (both times were with well-known dentists in San Francisco and let's just say... my teeth still weren't straight). I can't express this enough, do NOT go to a regular dentist for treatment, you need to go to an ortho who specializes in moving teeth! Dr. Gorton is a perfectionist and amazing at what she does. I'm so thankful I found this place and very confident this will be the last time I have to do this. I always ask for Makiah when I go. She's so friendly and gentle when working on my teeth!

They just constantly try to upsell you and refuse to provide quality work, pointing all complaints to "you signed the contract" and not uploading their promises.

Simply the best! I started going to Dr. Schmohl and Dr. Gorton when I was nine years old; they completely changed my smile from crooked to straight. Now, 19 years later, I needed a little work done and still the most warm, friendly and talented group of people! Highly recommend!!

My teeth were moving quite a lot after many years. So much so that my dentist was thinking about pulling one of them out! Gorton and Schmoll were great in getting them back into shape. The clinic use the state of the art equipment and the Invisalign system is extremely convenient. The price seemed worth it and in my case I used their easy financing to spread the payments. Highly recommend. This is a very professional shop.

I readily recommend the expert team at Dr Gorton and Dr Schmohl Orthodontics office. My 7-year old's new front teeth came in with a big space and an overbite, and her regular dentist voiced concern over possible accidental breakage in this situation. I had two consultations with other orthodontists before being referred to Dr Gorton and Dr Schmohl, but seeing the traditional go-to options of wire expanders and braces and picturing them in my daughter's mouth made me feel uneasy and concerned for her discomfort, as well as whether we would be able to maintain dental hygiene. To my relief, Dr Gorton saw my daughter and said she would be able to make Invisalign work for her Phase 1 treatment, even though typically it is not done until a patient is closer to teen age. She worked her magic and it worked out great for us. My daughter's teeth were fully corrected over about only 6 months. Both doctors saw her throughout treatment process and addressed all our concerns, for which I am very grateful. The team at the office is very nice and professional. Little prizes make visits a treat for a kid. Invisalign did its job causing almost no discomfort. It was easy to keep the teeth and trays clean, and was a good responsibility lesson for a kid to remember to put the aligners on and to brush regularly. Now she is no longer at higher risk to knock out her front teeth and her smile looks great. A big Thank You!

"Working at the Gorton and Schmohl Orthodontic clinic was honestly a life-changing experience. Despite it being my first job, the dental assistants were very patient and provided me with ample advice on how to not only improve at the assigned tasks, but how to communicate and collaborate in a professional setting. Despite the fast-paced environment of the clinic, the skilled orthodontists, Dr. Gorton and Dr. Sona, always made themselves available to answer my questions and expand my understanding of the workings of an orthodontist clinic. Although I was working during the COVID-19 pandemic, not once did I fear for my safety or health. The orthodontists and dental assistants always wore proper PPE on the clinic floor, and even during lunch break, masks were always worn when we were gathered together. We ate lunch separately to avoid potential transmission. Everyday, all the orthodontists and assistants underwent screening questions and had their temperature checked prior to entry. Furthermore, after every procedure in the side room, the room was fogged with a solution to get rid of any aerosols that may have occurred during the procedure. There were almost no procedures that took place in the main room that required aerosols, and everyday during lunch breaks, the main room was also fogged. During lunch break, all the handles, waiting room benches, and clinic-side tables were also wiped down. The three UV-light filters in the main room, waiting room, and side room were also always on as an extra layer of precaution. After all patients had left, we once again fogged both rooms and wiped down all handles. To ensure employee and patient safety, all patients were required to wear masks at all times, except during procedures. Patients were only allowed to bring one guardian. Every patient and guardian that entered had their temperatures checked and responded to all our screening questions. Every patient also had their mouths rinsed with mouthwash prior to their appointment. When scheduling appointments, patients were either advised to schedule online or stand 6 ft apart from the receptionist, who had two plastic screens to minimize potential droplet transmission. For anyone in the dental field, I would highly recommend working at the Gorton and Schmohl Orthodontics clinic. Everyone was patient and kind during my time here, and the many health precautions made me feel comfortable and reassured that I would be able to work at my full potential without having to worry about my personal health.

I'm beyond happy that we chose Marin Ortho/Gorton & Schmohl Orthodontics for our daughter's orthodontia needs. For me, they maintain exactly the right balance of exceptional service and care, professionalism, and bedside manner--and if your kiddo or you need braces, that properly-struck balance makes the whole process much, much easier. More, they offer invisalign--which we've indeed experienced as the far-less-painful-than-braces option--and orchestrate that process, which actually helps build goal-setting, communication, and accountability at home. Sold.

I cannot say enough about the staff at G&S orthodontics! I've been with them for about 2 years and they totally changed the way my teeth looked, felt and functioned!! They truely care about what's best for you - they are patient and understanding. Very clear about their pricing policy - no surprises! I felt very well taken care of, never rushed or taken for granted. If I was to say it one word I would say they are a top quality practise. Thank you to the entire team of G&S!

Dr. Gorton has a precise eye not only for aesthetics, but knows what it takes to create a healthy, functional smile that will last a lifetime if you wear your retainers as instructed. She takes a unique approach to treatment in that she not only sees your concerns as they currently appear, but also sees what you don't notice, but will notice as your smile starts to transform throughout the treatment process. Her approach goes above and beyond by correcting any functional concerns in order to avoid future dental issues, such as the need for crowns from the bite being off etc. Treatment may seem daunting at first, but it has the potential to save you thousands of dollars later down the road. Before seeing Dr. Gorton I had two other orthodontists and my general dentists take a look at my receding gum line on the lower anterior and they had nothing to say about it. The problem is they only noticed aesthetics and they were correct in that my teeth were perfectly straight, but they did not notice my top front teeth slamming into the lower front teeth. The first time I met Dr. Gorton she was able to tell me right away why I was losing so much bone and gum tissue and had a solution right then and there. To this day I'm so thankful to finally have a comfortable, healthy smile.

I received adult orthodontic treatment from Gorton & Schmohl for almost 3 years. Every appointment was enjoyable. From guiding me through each step of the process, to professionalism, to having my best interests in mind. I am extremely pleased with the outcome of my teeth and truly do not think I could have received better orthodontic care. I would recommend Gorton & Schmohl to anyone who truly wants the best orthodontic treatment.
