His years at UCSF involved volunteering and serving his community through the Science Education Program and Community Dental Clinic. He was accepted into the advanced training program in his General Practice Residency by the Community Medical Centers and the U.S., Department of Veteran Affairs.
Dr. Nguyen dedicates his life to traveling and finding advanced and safe dental techniques. The Doctors training and education gave way to him earning the honor of Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantology. This international designation is given to those who have proved their skill in surgery and restoration of dental implants.
He follows the practice philosophy that provides standard holistic dentistry. This is done by working with an open mind with each patient and facilitating exceptional restorative with holistic protocols. The Doctors enthusiasm and poise are energizing, and his gentle nature shows through his practice.
Dr. Robert E Jarvis II was born and raised in Santa Rosa, CA. He graduated with honors at UC Davis and obtained his dental doctorate at UCLA school of dentistry. Following dental school, he was an oral and maxillofacial surgery resident at UCL, a medical center, and he graduated in 1984. His intensive training included maxillofacial reconstruction, general anesthesia, dental surgery, dental implants and temporomandibular joint disorders.
Dr. Jarvis hobbies include trying to play guitar, circuit training, antiques, baseball, and basketball. Hes involved in several charity organizations. Dr. Jarvis is committed to the comfort and health of his patients.
After retiring from his practice of 33 years in Sonoma County, Dr. Jarvis is interested in removing infected teeth and bones that may contribute to systemic disease. Hes excited about placing the two-piece Zirconia implants.

All I have to say is, make sure to get a second opinion from another holistic dentist (even if you have to travel out of state) if you are told that you need work totaling thousands of dollars.

I can without a doubt say that Dr. Jarvis saved my life. Another dentist had removed my wisdom teeth incorrectly, allowing a hidden infection to set into my jawbone. For six years I suffered, not knowing if I would ever feel okay again. It was a tough time in my life, and I clung to the hope that there was a cause, and therefore, a cure. I flew to San Francisco on a hope and a prayer that Dr. Jarvis could help where multiple naturopaths, dentists, orthodontists, and medical doctors had failed. He imaged my jaw with a cone beam CT scan, and then showed me exactly where he thought my issues could be coming from. This was crucial, because no one previously could show me what was going on. Some couldn't see anything, and some thought I had a problem, but could not show me anything to back that up! Dr. J showed me, and recommended a conservative surgical option to remove the infection. I was in surgery the next day, and because I was not sedated, I was aware of the exact moment when the infection was cleared out of my jawbone. I have never felt such a wave of peace and elation wash over me. It was the most wonderful feeling in the world. All this happened while Dr. J was humming out a tune, telling me jokes, and performing his surgical duties with the most expert dexterity and skill. He truly is a happy guy! I felt no pain that day, required no pain meds, and he was incredibly supportive in the post-operative phase. Not to mention how wonderful and caring the office staff were! I healed excellently, and slowly began to regain my health. I just passed the one year mark since this surgery, and I have never been happier, healthier, and more content. I needed to tell other people this story. If you feel like there is a problem with your jaw, do not hesitate to reach out to Marin Dental Wellness and Dr. Jarvis for help. I was referred to this place for an implant because they are holistic. Implant process takes a while, multiple appointments, most places schedule these ahead. Well, no one scheduled my appointments ahead. Once a staff person called to ask me what one of my appointments was for most medical clinics take notes. They took out my tooth, no further appointments scheduled, and I had to really push to schedule subsequent appointments to get the implant actually put in. It took me MANY tries. It's like they have never heard of scheduling ahead. Their doctors are always super booked and it's really hard to get an appointment, you have to wait many months. I have a hole in my mouth, it's not comfortable to eat, and the whole process of an implant will take a year. No one offered me a temporary crown. They don't seem to care very much about my well-being. The dental hygienist had a very negative attitude too, so I went back to my previous one--she is super nice and professional. If I had known this was going to be an ordeal like this I would have gone somewhere else.

Marin Dental Wellness gets 1000 stars (not just 5!) I have TEARS OF GRATITUDE for this amazing practice! The experience at Marin Dental Wellness was euphoric, amazing, and actually LIFE CHANGING! I am filled with a sense of awe and wonder. This is how dentistry was meant to be! My young son had multiple cavities at a different dentist, and we had started treatment at a different local pediatric dentist, which was traumatizing to say the least. had been absolutely dreading taking my son back for any more fillings. Luckily I found this place! It was SO EASY AND PAINLESS! Because they have an "abrasion drill" which uses silica powder shot at high speed, the drill never even touches the tooth. Because of that there is no pain. Because of that there is no need for needles, novocaine, lidocaine and other drugs. Because of that there is no pain, no detox, no intense recovery time. They fill the tooth with melatonin AND homeopathic medicine AND THEN seal it with a tooth colored liquid enamel that they harden with a special light. IT was all so fast and easy. My sons teeth look completely natural, no visible sign of fillings, and he is happy and delighted. I AM SO RELIEVED to have entered the reality of pain-free holistic dentistry!!! One thing I will say: we DID use nitric oxide (anti-anxiety gas), which my son needed because of his emotionally traumatic past experiences at other dentists had him feeling extreme fear. The nitric oxide calmed him right down. Getting off nitric is easy, just 5 min of oxygen. EASY PEASY! So if you want nitric oxide, THEY DO HAVE NITRIC OXIDE, and you just have to be firm about it bc they will try to talk you out of it. In our case, it was necessary and worked beautifully to allow my son to have a calm and confident experience. THANK YOU!!!!!!

Hands down, the most wonderful experience I've ever had at a dental office. I was told by another oral surgeon that I would need all 4 wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Jarvis and his entire team took their time looking over my case and answering every question. I do not need my wisdom teeth removed after all. Finally, there's a team in the industry that does not over-treat, genuinely cares, and puts patients over profits. Highly recommend!

His knowledge and depth of caring he brings to the practice are unmatched. Dr Smith is the Buddha of dentists. AMAZING!!! Everything about this place is wonderful. From the helpful and sweet office staff, to the clean and beautiful facilities, to the medical assistants (Liz is incredible!), to the best oral surgeon ever: Dr. Jarvis!!!! I have had 3 separate procedures done here, and every time they go above and beyond to make me feel super comfortable and taken care of. My recovery is always way easier than I anticipate, and that just shows how skilled Dr. Jarvis is! He is also so funny and interesting to talk to, and he and Liz and his other medical assistants are a joy to be around. Also, the procedures Dr. Jarvis has done for me has improved my health immensely! It has truly changed my life. I can't say enough good things about this place, and I am so grateful I found them!

I give Marin Dental Wellness Center top rating and would recommend it to all my friends and family for comprehensive dental needs & care. Dr. Brian Smith is an excellent dentist and is always patient with explanations. He never rushes into treatment without providing a clear and easy to understand reasons of "why." Not only is Dr. Smith great, his practice is equipped with state-of-the art technologies. Everyone from his dental hygienist, to his dental assistants, to the front office, is professional and courteous. I am 100% satisfied! The only thing I wish for is my dental insurance would cover more of my expenses. But that is a whole other topic.

From friendly, warm people at the front, to caring and thoughtful hygienist treatments, to Dr. Smith, 100% engaged to doing his very best in state of the art, as natural as possible, treatments and resolution. Everyone cares. Due to my genetics, I've been to so many dentists and oral surgeons throughout my life, and I can say I have never felt like my mouth was in such positive hands.

Dental office practicing a holistic approach. Had a review done and they explained more about dental health and what I should be doing, better than any dentist I visited. The dental work was done with great attention to details as well as personal attention to me. They utilise ozone therapy for cleaning. Eventhough we live quite a distance away, me and my wife schedule appointments together and take "dental vacations" to go there.
