Dr. Maria J. Fournier is an accomplished and highly respected endodontist with over 27 years of experience. Her practice, located in the Buffalo Grove/Arlington Heights area, treats patients in pain due to infections originating in the roots of the teeth. To this day, Dr. Fournier treats her patients with the same excitement and passion she had when she graduated dental school. Her office is an extension of herself; a warm, friendly, caring office which is dedicated to the health and well being of their patients.
Dr. Fournier is a member of many Dental Societies, including the American Association of Endodontics, the Endodontic Coolidge Study Club, the American Dental Association, the Illinois Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society. She is a past president and current member of the Hellenic American Dental Society, Inc. and the Illinois Association of Endodontists. In addition, Dr. Fournier participates and supports the Elite Dental Study Club whose members comprise of individuals specializing in all areas of the dental field.
Dr. Fournier was born in Chicago, Illinois, and is the product of many fine Chicago educational institutions. After graduating from Trinity High School in River Forest in 1981, Dr. Fournier went on to earn her B.S. in biology with departmental distinction from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She subsequently received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Loyola Dental School. In 1990, she graduated from Northwestern University School of Dentistry with a Masters Degree and her Endodontic Specialty Certificate. Dr. Fournier also attended the University of Pennsylvania for Microscope training in February, 1999 and April, 1999.
During dental and specialty school, Dr. Fournier received numerous awards. She received the Pierre Pauchard Academy award for Excellence; she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society, and received Certificate of Merit from the Loyola endodontic department. After her matriculation at Northwestern, she was asked to join the faculty of the school of Dentistry as an Associate Clinical Professor in the department of endodontics until the time the school closed.

In order to make an appointment with Dr. Fournier, you are required to give a full medical/dental history over the phone to a clerical staff member. This is before you get an appointment. You are not on a secure phone line and you are not speaking to the doctor. This is a clear violation of HIPAA and of the patient's privacy. When I objected, the staff became angered and refused to give me an appointment. And I had a referral. Decided to go to a different endodontist. At Dr. Patrick Fitzgerald's office, the history is done online, through a secure patient portal. Only the doctor and selected staff members have access to the portal.

Dr. Fournier is excellent!! She explains her diagnostic process and then the results of the diagnosis. She is efficient in executing the procedure. I was profoundly numb with 2 minutes of the initial injection, felt no pain during the process. At the end I was given postop procedures orally by Dr. Fournier and in writing. The office staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. Overall, could not have been better.

I recently had dental work done by Dr.Maria Fournier. Usually I go in thinking of the pain and discomfort I'm about to experience.I suffer from TMJ which is very painful at times. They took X-rays and prep for post, which requires a lot of jaw movement. Usually painful. Never thought I would say this. I just had the most relaxing visit Ever! You have a relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. You walked me thru every step. Very helpful. I felt my mouth numbing but never felt the needles. I thought pain would occur once numbness wore off. I took Advil as suggested and feel Great! Thank you for a painless procedure. I strongly recommend Maria and staff THANK YOU!

The very best service here. Dr Fournier explained everything to me. I cannot tolerate things in my mouth for dental surgery. She has nitrous gas that put me completely at ease. I breezed through the root canal and was better than ever, actually feeling happy as I left her office. I returned years later for another root canal, but Dr Fournier said I did not need one after my exam. She is so professional and honest and will educate you on proper tooth care if you simply ask. I wouldn't go anywhere else for a root canal ever. Dr Fournier and her staff are the best. You are asked to pay in full upon visit and then they bill your insurance and your insurance company sends you a check vs getting a bill from your insurance company. I actually prefer this as I hate to debate insurance companies on invoices. I was paid by my insurance company in 10 days. If you want a quality dentist you pay for it. Dr Fournier rates are very reasonable. I would recommend her to all family and friends. 5 stars !!!!!

This location has awful communication in regards to their procedure. After care was not explained at all during the consult. They did not inform me of the multiple visits that would take place after my dentist appointment despite me informing them I would be coming back from school out of state for this. they day of the appointment they realized my insurance had changed and was no longer in networking making my procedure unaffordable. Again I had come from out of state only to be told my root canal would now cost 1,000. It was a truly confusing and poor experience I would not recommend to others.

Worst root canal ever! Horrible pain during and after procedure. Didnt seem to know how to use nitrous oxide. Setting way too low. I've had it before and could not feel the effects, was definitely not numb. Traumatic experience. Cannot recommend.

Dr. Fournier is an exceptional endodontist. If a person must have a root canal, then he/she must have Dr. Fournier. Her expertise is without question and few, if any, can come close to her skill level. Unfortunately, I have needed her expertise on several occasions. Each time, she and her staff have been empathetic, kind, supportive, and helpful. They have followed up each time to make sure I was recovering well, even calling me once on Thanksgiving Day! However, that is only the beginning. As important, she cares about her patients' health, and not just about their teeth. She saved my life by diagnosing my high blood pressure which was extremely high. If she had not found this out, I might not be here to sing her praises! Dr. Fournier, I am grateful and forever will be! You are the BEST!!!

I met with Dr. Fournier for the first time in May for an emergency root canal due to a tooth that cracked unexpectedly. She was highly recommended by my dentist so off I went. The following week I returned for a follow up and spoke with her about the Communicator Surgical Mask. Due to my hearing loss I typically need for an individual to face me. This provides visual cues to speech read while interpreting the sounds. When someone's mouth is covered it becomes more difficult. This past week I went in for my three month recheck and was greeted with this beautiful face! She purchased the masks after our conversation. She also told me she observed a patient that appeared to be having difficulty understanding and decided to put this mask on which made a difference. Although that patient did not self-identify has having a hearing loss this doctor was intuitive enough to make an accommodation and change her communication style. Not only is Dr. Fournier incredible at what she does but exceptional in whom she is. I was so nervous about the procedure and my entire experience with this doctor and her staff has been exceptional. I will recommend her to everyone!

My wife had a root canal performed by Dr. Fournier in December. She does excellant work and has a great staff. I would recommend her to family members and friends with out hesitation. Definitely a 5 rating.

Dr. Fornier & staff are great!! Needed to re-do an old root canal, obviously not something one looks forward to, but it was painless. Dr. Fornier explained options & everything before, updated during, and I felt I was in good hands throughout!

I can't begin to describe how amazing Dr Fournier and her staff are! Every aspect of my appointment, from the initial greeting when I walked in to the moment I left was absolutely wonderful. She took her time and explained everything before and while she was doing it and showed me pictures once she was done so I could understand the process. You can tell she really cares about her patients and their comfort. The post op instructions were so helpful! Beautifully written out, in plain English so you can't mess it up and all the info for managing your pain. I honestly can't speak highly enough of the doctor and her staff! Wish there were more stars to give out!
