Dr. Marcos Ortega, a native of Southern California attended the University of California, San Diego and graduated with a bachelor degree in Biology. He attended the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry and graduated in 1986. He has been providing quality dental care in downtown San Diego for over 26 years.

Sedation Dentistry Dr. Marcos Ortega is an active member in the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation or DOCS and an ongoing member of the Crown Council where he can learn the latest and greatest in sedation dentistry technology to provide more for his patients. I took my family here mid morning on August 26th for a series of check-ups. My parents have been in the medical and dental fields for decades, so I feel uniquely qualified to point out a few special details about Dr Ortegas practice and his staff. The front office is easily the best run medical/dental office I have found in San Diego. The waiting room is small, but highly efficient and the lady working there did an incredible job explaining everything (including treatment billing and insurance matters) clearly to my wife and me, while also creating a calm atmosphere for my children, who were a little nervous about their first trip to the dentist. The hygienist did a fantastic job working with my young children and Im honestly shocked at how well she was able to keep them still and relaxed for as long as they did. Dr. Ortega was the perfect balance of kind and direct. We were running quite late because of our own errors, but at no point did I feel like we were being rushed. The exams were thorough enough to create a well-thought-out treatment plan which Dr. Ortega clearly explained the various prioritized courses of action. The whole staff was knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend this dental practice.

I just happened to find Dr Ortega by chance and am so glad I did!!! They were able to get me in that day for a consult the staff is AMAZING!!!! I had all the info I need and was able to book my procedure right away! I was worried it would take for ever to get me problem taken care of and it didnt!! They have been so helpful and friendly I don't have a fear of the dentist any more!!! If I have any questions or concerns I can ask there or call if I forgot to ask and they always take care of me!!! A huge thank you to Dr Ortega and his AMAZING team for taking care of me and making me feel more than comfortable every time!! This is my new spot for dental care!!

I found Marcos Ortega DDS based on reviews and they were on point. This has been the best dental experience I've had in a LONG time. I was able to be seen quickly for a very painful infection. When I came in, I didn't have to sit and wait for over an hour in the lobby as I've done in the past at other offices. I was greeted and seen promptly. Visits were well organized and quick. His team is super friendly and he himself is a kind and highly competent Dentist having been able to fix a tooth concern that I'd been seen twice for by 2 previous dentists. He also has a gentle touch and works diligently not to cause any extra pain/discomfort. I Highhhhly recommend this Dental office if you're in the San Diego Area!

I'm glad I made the switch from my old dental office to Dr Marcos and Bowman's. Their Dental Hygienists are great, friendly and sweet. They know what they are doing and don't lie to you regarding what work you REALLY need done. I hate needles based on a bad experience with the Dentists in the Navy and with Dr Marcos and Bowman's staff, they really take care of you and make the experience a gentle and painless visit.

For the past 20 years, I have had a fear...more like a terror...of going to the dentist. But over the course of time, it became imperative I seek dental treatment. I actually tried another dentist several years ago - and never went back - so finding Dr Ortega last year was sort of a miracle for me! From my first encounter over the phone with the wonderful office manager, Julie, where I expressed my fears, she was so assuring and affirming, that I summoned the courage for my first visit which entailed x-rays (and initially even those were difficult for me). Jump ahead to Tuesday of this week, and I now have a beautiful smile - which included having 10 crowns installed without getting anything more than novocaine! The entire staff is truly wonderful and Dr. Ortega is very thorough in his explanation,s gentle in his care and his work is excellent!! If you are looking for a dentist - and staff - who truly care and listen and exceed your expectations, run don't walk to Dr Marcos Ortega!

Dr. Ortega and Team have been an answer to our prayers. The whole team, starting of with Ms. Julie are so courteous, attentive and accommodating. Julie helped my fiance through every step of his oral hygiene and dental work. I live in Texas and it was hard to find someone with high standards and excellence, being that I am in the dental field myself, I had high expectations and some reservations whom to trust my fiance's dental care. I share with you that from day one, Ms. Julie kindly helped me coordinate, treatment plan and communicate all details to our dental journey. I have always been worried to go to another dentist as I have only ever been to the one I've been going to since I was a kid but when I moved to San Diego a friend recommended this office. All I can say is that my expectations have been blown away! I only have the most amazing things to say about them. They make me feel like I have been part of their office for years. I feel that I was very lucky to have been referred to Dr. Ortega by my tax preparer. He was very kind and professional. Also, his receptionist, Julie was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. But most of all the work that he performed on my teeth, which was to place permanent crowns on all of my teeth was immaculate!
