A native of Monmouth County New Jersey, Dr. John R. Marcelino graduated from Holmdel High School and then from the College of the Holy Cross. Dr. Marcelino attended the New Jersey Dental School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he served as class president for two years. During that time, he shared his clinical expertise with underclassmen as a fixed prosthodontics tutor while receiving multiple leadership and service awards. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2005.
Dr. Marcelino completed a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia to elevate his skills in all aspects of general and restorative dentistry. Following his residency, Dr. Marcelino entered private practice as an associate first in Lumberton, New Jersey and then in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Dr. Marcelinos lifelong goal of returning to Monmouth County to practice dentistry was realized when he opened Marcelino Dental Arts in Little Silver, New Jersey in 2010.
In addition to maintaining a full-time private practice, Dr. Marcelino surpasses the requisite standards of his profession by attending numerous continuing education courses. Dr. Marcelino also stays up-to-date with current trends and advanced methods through active membership in many professional associations, including the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Monmouth-Ocean County Dental Society, and the Advanced Dental Seminars Study Club. Dr. Marcelino also instructs residents as a part time lecturer at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Centers dental clinic.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Marcelino enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, and family, as well as, traveling, and playing guitar. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys baseball, football, and hockey. Dr. Marcelino stays active in the community as a member of the Little Silver Business and Professional Association.

These new protocols follow infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We will be following the activities of these agencies so that we are up to date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

I have been going to Dr. Marcelino for almost 5 years. Before his office I don't believe I saw a dentist for 10 years and I certainly required some attention. At his office I've had wisdom teeth pulled, fillings, routine checkups, bite guards, and intensive cleanings performed by his staff and him. I can say each person that works there is very personable and professional. Carl, who manages most of the appointments, has been a big help accommodating my frequent travel schedule. I also appreciate text notifications for open appointments and reminders. Highly recommended!

Such an amazing team! I travel over an hour just for my appointments because they are THE ABSOLUTE BEST! If you are a big baby when it come to the dentist (like me) then you really have nothing to worry about here! Dr. Marcelino and his team are so comforting, kind and professional. Dr Marcelino is by far THE best dentist in all of Monmouth county. As someone who has spent their entire life terrified of the dentist, he has not only helped me get past that fear, he has helped me get back my smile! His entire staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. I wouldn't trust my teeth to anyone else!

I needed to replace a front crown that was put in several years ago by another dentist. Having gone to Dr. Marcelino for the past few years, I have a lot of confidence in him. His cosmetic work is exceptional and I am very pleased that the crown looks completely natural and is comfortable. Everyone in the office is so friendly, and more importantly, terrific at what they do... Carmela (hygiene), Nicole (assistant), and Carl (manager). Thank you all for the wonderful care!

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Marcelino for several years now. We couldn't be happier with his practice. When we first began going to Dr. Marcelino, he alerted my wife to several issues with her teeth. The most severe issue was that she had been grinding her teeth so badly that she lost most of the enamel on her molars. Once he pointed this out, it couldn't be more evident upon looking at her teeth. Needless to say, our previous dentist had failed to mention this issue at all. A simple solution such as wearing a custom mouth guard was all that was required to prevent any further damage and potentially ten's of thousands of dollars to repair with root canals and caps. He is very thorough and uses state of the art technology. His staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. Our children, ages 4-7, are also patients. Dr. Marcelino and his staff provide a welcoming environment that eases any nerves they have. He is very good with kids and clearly explains everything he is doing. We've never had to wait more than 10 minutes beyond our scheduled appointment time. We highly recommend Dr. Marcelino to anyone looking for a dentist.

Dr. Marcelino was great! Speaking as someone who is terrified of dentists from a past trauma, I felt taken care of and listened to, not just by Dr. Marcelino, but by his entire staff as well. Ultimately the news I received was not what I wanted to hear but he was compassionate and took his time diagnosing my problem. I highly recommend Dr. Marcelino and will be returning to his practice again for my future care.
