Here at Maplewood Dental Associates, we pride ourselves on the quality of care that we are able to provide. A huge part of this is due to our talented dentists. We are lucky to have Dr. Scott Kajer, Dr. Michael Splett, Dr. Matthew Kajer and Dr. Siara Elovich as vital members of our team.

Our doctors work tirelessly to ensure that every patient receives the individualized treatment that they deserve. When you are in the presence of one of our dentists, you can be assured that their focus is on one thing you. It is this level of attentiveness that makes patients feel comfortable and cared for.

In order to maintain our reputation as the leading dental practice in the Maplewood and St. Paul, MN area, we know that our doctors must stay up to date in the latest and greatest dental technologies. Drs. Kajer, Elovich, and Splett all enjoy learning about advances pertaining to general, pediatric, and cosmetic dentistry, and actively seek out conferences and seminars that they believe will further the treatment they provide to our valued patients.

Dr. Scott Kajer received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas in 1980. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota in 1984. Dr. Kajer joined Maplewood Dental Associates in 1989. Dr. Kajer enjoys working closely with his patients through all phases of family dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association and the St. Paul District Dental Society. He also does volunteer dentistry through the Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps Center.

Dr. Kajer and his wife, Marianne, live in Saint Paul. They have four grown sons, and two granddaughters. Outside of the office Dr. Kajer enjoys improving his golf game, traveling with family and spending time with loved ones. Dr. Kajer is overjoyed to welcome his second son, Dr. Matt Kajer, into the practice after his graduation from dental school in May of 2021. He wishes him years of success and is excited for him to meet all the wonderful patients and be part of the great team here at Maplewood Dental.

Dr. Michael Splett is a committed Maplewood family dentist with years of experience treating people of all ages. He joined the Maplewood Dental Associates team as one of our dentists in 2001 where he quickly became part of the family. Dr. Splett was drawn to the dental field because of his passion for creating healthy and beautiful smiles. To pursue his dream, he went to the University of Minnesota where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

Dr. Splett enjoys continuing his education by staying up to date on all of the latest advances in dentistry. He commits time to learning more about advances in cosmetic dental procedures, childrens dentistry, root canal therapy, and the replacement of missing teeth. Currently living in Mahtomedi, Dr. Splett spends his time away from the office with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children. He also enjoys fishing, boating, and playing golf during his free time.

Dr. Siara Elovich (also known as Dr. Zee) has known since elementary school that she wanted to become a dentist to help people feel more confident about their smiles. Through many years of school, her love for the profession grew as she learned of the important role oral health plays in improving the health of the rest of the body.

Dr. Elovich grew up in Stillwater, MN, and spent the majority of her time in Maplewood, as she competed in dance with a local studio. She then moved to Washington, DC to attend college and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at American University in Washington, DC. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota in 2012, and following dental school completed a General Practice Residency at Fairview hospital.

Dr. Zee and her husband, Kevin, live in Mahtomedi with their feline family members, as well as their newest addition a sweet baby boy named Link. When shes not at work, she loves doing yoga, cooking, hiking and traveling to fun and interesting places.

Dr. Matthew Kajer received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of St. Thomas. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree and Certificate of Public Health from the Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health. Upon graduation, Dr. Matt returned home to join the team at Maplewood Dental.

Dr. Matt is a member of the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, and the St. Paul District Dental Society. He also enjoys volunteering with events such as Give Kids a Smile Day and Mission of Mercy, as well as others. Dr. Matt stays up to date on the latest advancements in dentistry through various continuing education courses and looks forward to furthering his training in implant dentistry. Dr. Matt is happy to be home practicing with everyone at Maplewood Dental, especially his father.

Get to know our expert Maplewood dental hygienists:

The best part of her job is all of the fantastic patients she has seen throughout the years and working with such a great dental team. Outside of work, Lisa enjoys golfing, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Nikki started her studies at MCPHS University Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene and graduated from Lake Superior College. Nikki has been a dental hygienist for over 20 years and joined the Maplewood Dental team family in 2017. She loves making a difference in patients oral health. Outside of work Nikki is busy with her 4 active daughters, Jocelyn, Jasmine, Jade and Josie. She enjoys fishing, hunting, golfing, Pilates, traveling and going to concerts.

I. have had a terrible fear of the dentist ever since I was a child. Dr.Zee, Tamara and the whole staff made my visit so very comforting. They were compassionate and understanding not judgmental. I felt very valued and respected. They are very passionate about helping make the dental experience less traumatic. I would highly recommend them!!

I lost part of a tooth late on a Friday afternoon. I was able to get a 10:20 appointment the following Monday, the issue was resolved and I was on my way by 11:00

I came back here for 2 cavity fillings (first visit was great, staff and dentist were nice at initial first exam). I agreed to do an Invisalign consult the same day as my cavity fillings as it was free. That was a huge mistake on my end as the experience was the worse I've had. I think if I hadn't agreed to do the Invisalign consultation and only did my cavity fillings and left, I would have been fine. First, coming in, they take 2-3 photos of my teeth. Than I come sit in the chair and the dentist numb my left side (3 injections). I thought I was done with photos. Nope. After being poked 3 times, the staff start taking more photos of my teeth, I'm assuming for the Invisalign consult. I'm starting to feel super numb and can barely move my mouth. They keep saying open wider. After those photos are done, dentist comes back to work on my cavity and fillings. Once that was done, I thought I was done. NOPE. They want me to do scan of my teeth with a machine. I don't know how many times I had to open my mouth for this. I have no idea if the staff did not know how to work the machine or if it really takes that long, but at this point my mouth is exhausted from being opened the whole time the dentist was working on my cavities (and don't forget all the photos beforehand after they numbed me they had things in my mouth opening and closing for photos already). I have no idea if they overdid the numbing on me, but at this point, my entire left side of the face is numb, left cheek, up to my temple, left mouth, lips, chin, everything. You can only imagine how irritated I was opening my mouth still multiple times yet still again continuously for this scan to go on. The staff scanned the same area/teeth over and over and over. I tried my best to stay calm and patient, but in the end I stood up and left. Worst experience ever. Before I left, the dentist apologized and said the machine wasn't working properly. Should have mentioned this before or rescheduled me. The whole left side of my face is numb, which is unnecessary! Not sure why these dentist/staff would let anyone experience this. Suggestion: finish all the photos/scanning before you numb a patient! Nobody wants to be opening and closing their mouth a million times especially after they are numbed! People already don't like going to the dentist in general so this just makes the experience worse. Better yet, just suggest the Invisalign consult and the cavity fillings to be on different days!

My "team" is Lisa and Dr. Splett. I've had Dr. Splett for as long as he's been at Maplewood Dental and Lisa since Maryland retired. I simply enjoy coming in every 6 months and look forward to my visits. Lisa and Dr. Splett are both extremely friendly and personable ... AND professional. Lisa makes my hour in the chair seem like 10 minutes!

Every person from start to finish was extremely personal, professional and helpful! Abby especially does a fantastic and thorough job of cleaning my teeth, addressing any concerns I have and educating me on how to take care of myself and my teeth. She provides many thoughtful tips to manage my care ! My insurance changed and now I am out of network but I can't imagine going anywhere else. Doctor Kajer does an amazing job of caring for me, my crowns and cavities, refers out when needed. While I was in for a recent appointment, one of the insurance people came and shared with me what my coverages would be so I would know what to expect. She went out of her way to do this because she knew i was wondering and didn't have time to check beforehand. Everyone goes above and beyond at Maple Dental Associates. I would highly recommend them for dental care!
