Dr. Gwen Ngo has been serving the local community for over 17 years. She first opened an office in Silver Spring which is still in operation today and later expanded to Maple Lawn as the first tenant in the Midtown Medical Building. She has seen and experienced the many changes and trends in the dental profession from an emphasis in cosmetic dentistry to full mouth reconstruction. However, as she states, 'trends have ebbs and flows, however, most patients consistently want to have teeth that are pain-free and will not cost them discretionary savings to keep it that way'. Thus, her treatment planning with every patient is to identify problems and more importantly, potential problems. 'We focus on proper preventive care, cavities treatment, healthy gums, identifying infections and eradicating them, and any other concerns that may pose a problem to my patient'. Her approach to every patient is proper communication and understanding their desires. These aspects are in conjunction with coordinated insurance coverage so that every patient has their benefits maximized without incurring unexpected expenses.
Dr. Gwen Ngo graduatedfrom the University of Maryland Dental School in 2000. She was one of a select few that had a perfect clinical score in board licensing examinations. She has remained committed throughout her professionin providing services to financially qualifying children. In her free time she enjoys gardening, lounging on a couch with her laptop, and listening to the daily escapades of her son.

Was in town for a business trip staying at a local hotel and had a tooth pain. They were able to accommodate me within a day and did a filling that took away the pain. Very grateful.

I went to this dentist office hoping to have a cavity fixed and filled. Instead the 2 dentists working on me did not show any care to my teeth and it felt like they were stabbing my nerves. Theyd continuously lift my head up than show frustration to why my head was up. When they were cleaning inside my cavity they were so rough my whole tooth hurt for a week and i still have pain while eating or drinking nearly anything. Its not just average tooth pain it feels like my nerves are being ripped right out of my tooth while its covered in dry ice (i dont know how else to explain it). It seemed they showed anger i hadnt been to the dentist in nearly 2 years but none of that is my fault because i am someone under 18. All i wanted was proper tooth care but intead my tooth feels worse than when i had the cavity to begin with. I wouldnt recommend this dentist office to anyone who wants proper care and treatment but if youd like to be harrased and have rough over the top painful unnessary care than its right for you. Its been almost 3 weeks since i went and i still have pain every day. Very poor experience

UPDATE: Their office in Maple Lawn is CLOSED. I had tried making an appointment by phone for 2 months (since Sept. 2017), and nobody answered the phone (went right to voicemail). Eventually, I stop by their office on a weekday around 11:00AM and it clearly looked empty.

Very good service. They claim to schedule one patient at a time every 45 minutes to an hour. I was skeptical but it's true. I didn't have to wait and my entire appointment from the xrays, exam, and deep cleaning were meticulous.

They are very thorough. Front desk is very knowledgeable about insurance details and what is and is not covered, so no surprise bill in the mail! Dr. Ngo was fantastic. I like the fact that she's been here for ten years now unlike many dental offices I've been to in the past that has a revolving door with dentists.

I've been a patient for several years and am happy with the experience each time. There's never a long wait if any. Tom, the office manager, is the same person every time that handles my appointments and finances. If there's ever a question, I just need to talk to him to get things straight. Dr. Gwen Ngo is super efficient with whatever needs I have.

I felt a little sensitivity on one of my back teeth. When I called to schedule an appointment, they told me that they'll set aside an hour for me not knowing exactly what may be the problem (cavity, infection, chipped tooth...). They were upfront and told me if after an xray and exam, if the Dr. deemed that she would need over an hour to fix it, then I would need to schedule back for a follow-up. Fair enough. It turned out to be a very small cavity that only took 20 minutes to fix upon my first appointment. With time to spare, I also got a deep cleaning. I definitely will be coming back.

Everyone is very nice. Quick check-in. In the past at other offices, I stressed out with just a cleaning since the hygienist always looked for every crevice to scrape with a hand scaler that took forever. At Maple Lawn, Dr. Ngo always uses an ultrasonic tool that finishes the job in half the time. It's lots of vibration, water, and sound but I'll take it anyday over feeling like a chalkboard being scratched with fingernails.

I'm apprehensive when I go to an appointment and see a ton of people in a waiting room. It's not the case here! They really manage there slots appropriately so there's never a long wait. I once couldn't make it to my appointment last minute due to work and they completely understood and said they have never charged a broken appointment fee ever since they know things come up. Dr. Ngo is always really careful with her work and gives me recommendations for my teeth every time I come.

I've been getting cleanings and some other work done there for years. It's always smooth and efficient. Even with cleanings, there's always an assistant to help suction and get materials and instruments on demand. When I was growing up, other dental offices just had one hygienist clean you and it would take forever as they painstakingly scaled every inch of your teeth and pause whenever they needed to get something. Not the case here. Dr. Gwen Ngo cleans every adult patient with a minimum of one assistant in the room. Whenever the doc has a question about my insurance, she doesn't even look up; she just asks the question out loud and magically some guy pops out around the corner to instantly answer it. (kinda freaky but cool...like servers at an Ipic movie) Thus, never an insurance non-payment surprise bill in the mail. In fact, they promise that if they ever misinterpret my coverage, they will not bill me for something that was not covered. I'm good with that.
