If anybody is looking for a dentist, I absolutely do not suggest Manteno Family Dental. This post is not to bash their organization, but to be honest about my experience. The doctor never was a problem, but Linda at the front desk was the absolute worst to my family. She's not prompt. Doesn't return phone calls. Takes no accountability when she makes an error. She's always been very prude and down right ignorant on the phone every time we have had a conversation. Almost handling situations in a belittling way. I have a right to know about what services I will receive, what I need to do as far as my insurance, etc any normal questions any patient would ask their provider when in their care without being rushed off the phone. I should be comfortable that my dental office has my best interest at heart in all aspects. My kids did really well with Dr Slavin, and it's unfortunate we have now switched dental offices due to the lack of patient service. Absolutely NO patient service to be exact. I gave it time because my kids were comfortable, but her demeanor makes me uncomfortable (especially coming from a healthcare background myself.) After countless other problems, and acting as though our Medicaid insurance is beneath them or an inconvenience to deal with (EVEN THOUGH YOU CHOOSE TO BE IN NETWORK WITH THEM) she went as far as to leave a voicemail on my phone stating, "If you happen to win the lottery or something... or if you can somehow afford the services we would be happy to give you a slight discount or you can find another provider. " I never complained of my insurance or needing an authorization, didn't even complain about a possible denial but this was her 1st RETURN phone call to myself after I just simply wanted to follow up on my status with insurance. A simple apology saying I was inappropriate would have solved wonders, but instead she said didn't leave that voicemail. When in fact I have that voicemail. I have no problem paying out of pocket for things that my insurance denies, but to assume we can't afford their services without winning the lottery is very ignorant. Hopefully this office can take some time out of their busy schedules to educate their staff on proper office conduct, because she is a beyond miserable person who made my experience for my family miserable. Such a bad look for Dr Slavin.

It took 7 months to get me dentures and they still don't fit right! The bottom ones fall out the minute I eat and he is the rudest rudest person ever!! Won't be back!!!!

Had to get a teeth scaling which I was very nervous about to get. Amber was awesome. She made me feel comfortable and I didn't feel any pain at all. I highly recommend this dental office. My whole family goes here.

Was my favorite dentist, now I can't get in at all and the secretary never returns calls. It took a month of leaving voicemails and calling everyday just to get an appointment then 3 months of waiting and I receive a call that it's cancelled. Me and my family have been going here for years. This is very disappointing.

I don't understand all the bad reviews. My kids and I have gone to Dr. Slavin and his staff for a few years and have never had anything bad to say. Receptionist has always been friendly to us and the staff and Dr. have always been friendly and professional. Your in and out of your appointment and I would definitely recommend them.

Dr. Slavin has been my dentist since I was a little kid, he's one of the nicest guys you'll meet anywhere. He's always been a great family dentist. Everyone at the office is always friendly. They always answer the phone if you call them when they are open so no idea what some of the other reviewers are talking about. Maybe check thier buisness hours Not that hard. I'm in hospitality so I know how annoying false reviews can be. I literally had to call 3 times today for various reasons and every call was answered LOL.

I do NOT recommend this doctor for children. Took my 9 yr old. When Dr said he would need novocain on his next visit, my child was uneasy about that. Extremely rudely the Dr said, "Well that's the way we do things here. If you don't like it go somewhere else." That's a disgusting way to talk to a child. I tried to make another appointment today and was told they will not allow parent in room with my 9 yr old. Needless to say, that was the last straw. I will never set foot in that place again and would caution all other parents. Called another dentist right after and was told a parent can always be in the exam room with any minor child.

Everyone at the office is super friendly, but all of the work I had done here had to be redone within a few years by another dentist. I may have had to reschedule appointments, but I was never late - I am Always early for appointments.
