At the same time, orthodontics allows me to develop long-term relationships with each patient and their family. I live and work on the Upper Eastside, so I see my patients around in the community, not just in the office. Running into one another, and seeing those wonderful smiles, is deeply rewarding!

I really love seeing people so happy at the end of treatment and knowing I have made a lasting, positive change in each persons life: not just aesthetically, but improving the health of their teeth, too!

Dr. Adamjees father is a surgeon and she grew up with an interest in the healthcare field. And as a child, she had a great female dentist. These two facts drew her to dental school and once there she learned about orthodontics, which became her passion.

Dr. Adamjee attended Mount Holyoke College, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry and Religion . She was also inducted into Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society.

Her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) was obtained at Columbia University, School of Dental Medicine where she was inducted in the Omicron Kappa UpsilonNational Dental Honor Society. Upon graduation she was selected for the Award of Divisional Excellence in Orthodontics,the AAO Award for Exceptional Interest in the Development of the Oro-Facial Complex, the Eugene Rothschild Memorial Award from the New York Academy of Oral Rehabilitation and the Predoctoral Achievement Award, The International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Having practiced since 2009, Dr. Adamjee has an ever-deepening appreciating for her professions ability to truly improve the wellbeing of patients. Not only is she able to help people realize their most beautiful smiles, her three years of specialized orthodontic training and ongoing continuing education allows her to address individuals bodily health, as well. In correcting malocclusions, she is able to create a healthier bite and improved function. This decreases the chance of future tooth, ear/jaw, periodontal problems, and cavities, too.

Orthodontics is a constantly advancing specialty and Dr. Adamjee keeps up-to-date with the latest research, methodologies, and technologies through continuing education (CE) She takes part in Invisalign study groups and regularly attends meetings, lectures, and seminars.

Dr. Adamjee has numerous CE opportunities throughout the year. By keeping abreast of new options, emerging research, and treatment trends, she ensures each patient receives the ideal orthodontic care for their specific concerns.

As part of her commitment to her patients and her profession, Dr. Adamjee has chosen to become board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. This challenging and detailed process, involving written and clinical exams, as well as a comprehensive review of her credentials, is completely voluntary. Achieving board certification signifies Dr. Adamjees ongoing pursuit of excellence in orthodontics.

Dr. Adamjee lived in Illinois until she was 11; she has resided in New York City since 2002. She, her husband Aamer, and their children, Lara and Danyaal, live on the UES where the children go to school and the family is active in the community.

When shes not improving oral health and smiles, Dr. Adamjee can most often be found with her family, and likely learning about all things Marvel from her children! She also enjoys attending Broadway Shows and exploring wonderful new restaurants.

Being an orthodontist means I can change lives. Seeing a crowded mouth, an underbite, an overbite transform into a beautiful, healthy smile is extremely rewarding. Even more rewarding though, is seeing how treatment can completely transform the person who owns the smile. Watching a person gain confidence, seeing how they develop stronger a self-image, and how proud they are at the end that is when Im happiest!

I appreciate that my profession allows me to meet and get to know such wonderful people. Whether Im providing early treatment for a child, changing a teens smile and confidence, or helping an adult achieve a smile they have wanted for years, I have time to get to know the person. Its enjoyable to chat about someones daily life, learn about their interests and dreams, and hear of their plans for the future.

These conversations constantly remind me that I am doing more than providing clinical treatment: I am undertaking a process that has the potential to make a lasting, positive improvement in the life of a friend!

Originally from Havana, Cuba, I was drawn to the dental field as a way of having a direct impact on peoples health and wellbeing. Choosing the orthodontic specialty was a natural decision, as it comes with the opportunity to build relationships while providing a service that transforms a persons health, appearance, and confidence!

I attended Florida International University for my undergraduate studies and then completed my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at Columbia University, College of Dental Medicine. My specialty orthodontic residency was through Montefiore Medical Center, Department of Dentistry.

Ive now practiced for over ten years and have no doubt this is the ideal profession. In what other field would I spend my days with dynamic, interesting people, getting to know them while helping each achieve their dream smile?

Like all areas of healthcare, dentistry, and the orthodontic specialty, is constantly improving. Research leads to new methodologies, a better understanding of the science, and innovations in technology and materials. Staying current on the latest developments is critical to providing patients with the best orthodontic experience and results.

Continuing education, through study groups, orthodontic meetings, seminars, and lectures, allows me to learn from leading practitioners and my peers. I am an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

In order to become board certified, I voluntarily underwent the rigorous clinical and written examinations through the American Board of Orthodontics. This designation shows my dedication to my profession and to each of my patients.

If not in the office, youll find me with my family, including my husband and our three young sons: Lucas, Santiago, and Mateo. We also have a much-loved dog, Jean Claude. I love spending time with my children and husband. Most anything is fun and pleasant if they are with me; they bring me the most happiness!

We love traveling: Spain, Italy, and the Dominican Republic are our favorite places to visit. I also love to run, from the NYC Marathon to the Lisbon half marathon. You can find me running with my fellow NYRR members in most races in Central Park, too.

I love giving back and supporting the community, as well. I participate in a lot of fundraising activities with my childrens school PTA. I am also a volunteer member of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Admissions Community. And I am involved in fundraising for the Smile Train, a charity that provides corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates all over the world.

Ive been in the orthodontic field for over 20 years. My favorite part of my job is the interaction and professional relationship I get to establish with each and every patient. Getting to know people as they go through their treatment, and seeing how each gains confidence, is rewarding. Im lucky to see this every day!

I am a proud mother of two children and treasure my time with them. Weekends are often spent cooking and baking for the family and Sundays are dedicated to watching football games. I also enjoy listening to music and seeing movies.

My favorite part of my job is the work itself, especially when our younger patients come in and they are nervous about putting on braces or expanders. I help them calm down and, at the same time, talk with parents about whats going to happen, so they relax, too! Its a good feeling to be able to inform, to answer questions, and to help everyone feel happy and engaged with getting a new smile!
