Dr. Gustafson is a native Charlottean who graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During a rotation at Carolinas Medical Center, she was able to broaden her experience treating medically compromised and elderly patients. Dr. Gustafson strives for excellence in patient care by attending numerous continuing education courses each year in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. She is also active in two study clubs, allowing her to keep current with the dynamic advances in the dental industry. Her primary ambition is to provide exceptional dental treatment for her patients in a caring, gentle atmosphere. She specializes in many aspects of general dentistry and is especially devoted to family and cosmetic dentistry. She wishes for all of her patients to have a personalized visit and for them to feel that they are truly in a safe environment, where they will receive optimal dental care.
Dr. Gustafson appreciates the unique opportunity to work in her hometown where family, siblings and childhood friends live. She and her husband enjoy many outdoor activities, including scuba diving, tennis, skiing, traveling and spending quality time with their two children and their golden retriever.
Dr. Krista Gasbarro Rankin completed both her undergraduate degree and her dental school education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery with Honors in 2005. She is a member of the American Dental Society, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the Charlotte Dental Society.
A native Charlottean, she thrives on establishing a warm and friendly atmosphere for her patients. Dr. Rankin loves to provide quality dental care to each patient and enjoys the relationships that develop as a result. Although she enjoys family practice the most, she has experience in a variety of different areas in dentistry, including having completed rotations in both hospital and pediatric dentistry.
She is passionate about service and enjoys volunteering through her church and at several different dental missions around the city. Dr. Rankin and her husband have three children, and love living in the same town as almost all of their family. She is passionate about cooking, enjoys being outdoors, and loves spending time in the mountains. They have a basset hound named Gomez whose favorite activity is taking a nap.

From the front desk to the chair and back to the reception area, I can always trust that I will be treated with the utmost respect at Mallard Creek Family Dentistry. The dentists and hygienists have always provided me with personalized, state-of-the-art Dental Care in a relaxed but professional setting. Their continued monitoring and prompt attention to my ever-changing dental needs insures that we are being proactive vs reactive. At my post recent visit, there was even more technology which made getting a crown much more efficient.

I had another great experience today at Mallard Creek Dentistry. My dental hygienist was so nice and made sure I was comfortable while she was cleaning. I hate the scraping sound so she switched tools so I was not stressed out. Dr Gustafson was amazing as always. She is super nice, professional, smart, and a great dentist. I would for sure recommend that you go see them for any of your dental needs.

If your looking for a great place that makes you feel welcomed... this is the place. The ladies here are amazing. Customer service is always A1. The prices are reasonable and you can get an appointment fairly quickly.

I had a great experience today. I was only in the office for 30 minutes to get a quick cleaning. It was a very simple and easy process. Also the staff was super friendly too.

This was my second time coming here the first time was great! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with friendly people. The young lady that cleaned my teeth the first time was wonderful, very pleasant and made me fill welcome and more relaxed. The lady that cleaned my teeth this time was very rude, and unwelcoming, I already knew I hadn't been there in awhile and needed a lot of work done, but for her to continue saying it over and over again was very embarrassing. And when I told her the reason why, she felt the need to tell everyone that came in the room. After she was done cleaning my teeth, she just stood there, continuing with the small talk. So I asked her were we waiting on the doctor and then she decided to call her, and said she called the wrong one. Just like the first time my doctor was very nice, pleasant and welcoming. While I was talking to my doctor, the rude one turned and looked at me as if I said something wrong, when I was done and was trying to check out she came up to me again telling me she thinks I should get the consultation with the doctor after my doctor whom I respect told me to think about it, and when I'm ready call and make an appointment. If I decide to come back I hope she's not the one cleaning my teeth. You guys have been getting 5 stars, and I see why the rest of you are very pleasant and welcoming keep up the good work!!!

I've been a client at Mallard Creek Family Dentistry for many years now. The service I get is top-notch -- Drs. Gustafson and Rankin are great dentists who are very knowledgeable about dentistry and who work directly and personally with their clients, discussing what needs to be done and taking the client's perspective into account. And the customer service at the office is spectacular. Shout out to Patti, Suzette, Wende, Dawn, and the many others who work at MCFD who are always such a pleasure to see and who are always so helpful and friendly.
