Dr. Hector Maldonado is a life-long resident of the New Orleans area. After graduating from Brother Martin High School in 1977, he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of New Orleans, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981. Dr. Maldonado then attended the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1984. He graduated in the top 10 of his class. He maintained a private practice in general dentistry for two years before resuming his studies at the LSU School of Dentistry in order to specialize in orthodontics.

After completing his orthodontic residency in 1988, Dr. Maldonado began the full-time private practice of orthodontics at his Metairie and Lutcher locations. Along with running his own private orthodontic practices, Dr. Maldonado has been a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the LSU School of Dentistry since 2000 where he teaches new dentists from all over the country who wish to become orthodontists. In fact, Dr. Maldonado has taught many local orthodontists during their residency.

A certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Maldonado is a member of many prestigious professional organizations. His memberships include the World Federation of Orthodontists, College of Diplomates of American Board of Orthodontics, American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Louisiana Association of Orthodontists, J.M. Chadha Orthodontic Educational Foundation, LSU Orthodontic Alumni Foundation, American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association and the New Orleans Dental Association. He served as President of the Louisiana Association of Orthodontists from 2004-2005.

In his spare time, Dr. Maldonado enjoys being outdoors, kayaking, working out (not as enjoyable), going to a baseball game, and spending time with his family, which includes his wife, Marie; his daughter, Aimee and son-in-law, Matt; his son, Kyle and daughter-in-law Jamie; and his beautiful granddaughters, Avery and Addison.

Dr. Kyle Maldonadois also a native of the New Orleans area. After graduating from Brother Martin High School, he attended the University of New Orleans on a baseball and academic scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He then received his D.D.S. from the LSU School of Dentistry, graduating with an Honors in Research and earning induction into the C. Edmund Kells Honor Society. He subsequently completed his orthodontic residency, also at LSU.

A certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Maldonado also completed an additional 4 month long intensive fellowship to learn how to effectively treat patients using clear aligners. After completing his orthodontic residency, Dr. Maldonado began the full-time private practice of orthodontics in Metairie, Lutcher, and Hammond.

Dr. Maldonado is a member of many prestigious professional organizations. His memberships include the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Louisiana Association of Orthodontists, LSU Orthodontic Alumni Foundation, American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association and the New Orleans Dental Association.

The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. The boards purpose is to elevate the quality of orthodontic care for the public by promoting excellence through certification, education and professional collaboration.

When it comes to preventing the spread of disease, rest assured that we have always been strict on universal precautions. Precautions have always included the use of masks, glasses, gloves, sterile instruments and devices as well as clean and disinfected environmental surfaces.

Additionally, frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, chairs, desks and bathrooms are cleaned and disinfected often. Other objects that may be difficult to disinfect, such as magazines, reading material and refreshment stations, may even be removed all together. We ask you to brush your teeth at home before coming to the office.
