Johnnieann began her dental career in 2001. She has assisted Dr. Makowski since 2004. Johnnieann is very passionate about dentistry and loves the beauty of a simple smile. A Denver Native, she grew up camping, fishing and enjoying the mountain air. She is married to her best friend and together they have two children.
Kathy has been a dental assistant since 1992, working in just two different offices. She loves working with a team that provides quality care and a doctor who truly puts the patients needs first. She is organized and efficient, and likes getting to know patients on a personal level. She is a 4th generation Colorado native, enjoys bicycling, backpacking, hiking and spending time in the back country during winter.
James W. Makowski was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Whittier College, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Biology upon graduation in 1978. Then, he attended the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry and obtained his DDS in 1983. Since then, he has been providing individuals and families across Colorado with high-quality dental services.
Dr. Makowski served as a preceptor at St. Josephs Hospital in Denver from 1992 to 1995. He has also worked as a clinical instructor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School since 1993. His knowledge and experience has been acquired by completing hundreds of continuing education hours through prestigious schools like The Dawson Academy, Orognathic Bioesthetic International, Spear and Scottsdale Center for Dentistry, Seattle Study Club and Spencer Study Club. As a result of his extensive experience, he has a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of dentistry. He has successfully treated countless patients over the past 35 years, and he can help you, too.

All of the staff were so kind and welcoming! Dr Makowski does a great job at making sure his patients get the best care for their situation. He's very thorough and has a lot of expertise with things like sleep apnea and grinding of teeth. Highly recommend!

Dr Jim did the best work to help me fix a failing tooth. He made it better than original. New crown to replace a veneer that he put on more than 30 years ago. I would not trust this to any other dentist. Thank you Dr Jim.

I absolutely love this office and all the staff. I have been avoiding going to the dentist for over 10 years now from anxiety and fear that most people get when they think about dental work! But the moment I walked into this office I did not feel uncomfortable and I was a little more relaxed just from how nice everyone was at the front desk. When I went back with the dental assistants to meet Dr. Makowski I felt like they cared about how I was feeling and they made me comfortable and a lot more relaxed in their office. I felt so comfortable that I actually looked forward to go back and start my deep cleaning with the Hygienist Cristel! SHE WAS AMAZING and she made sure that I was not in any pain or discomfort (which I was totally expecting), she talked to me and made me feel so comfortable. I was so insecure about my teeth before coming to see her and she did such an amazing job that I don't mind smiling a little bigger now. By the time we finished one side I was ready to schedule my 2nd visit with her! Needless to say, I am actually looking forward on getting all my dental work done with this office because they helped me overcome my fear and I know they will do an amazing job!

The Dr and the staff are second to none. Very professional and compashionate. . They took great care of my wife who is deathly terrified of the dentist. They are the best. I am personally no stranger for extensive dental work. Dr.mekowski is highly skilled punctual and just an amazing man and Dr. He is the best hands down .... if you are on the fence about going to the dentist due to fear dr.makowski is the best Dds for you. It took me years to find him. I will continue to see him for the remainder of my life and or his remaining dental carreer. If I could give him 11 stars I would... sorry for being redundant but him and his staff are the best. Compassionate about care and just amazing well trained people.. They are the best with no questioned asked. And on a finall not all of their referrals have also been absolutely amazing compashionate and have the same ethics as dr.mekowski. Simply the best.......
