I love being able to take care of people. Ive learned from my mother, a nurse of 48 years, that there is a lot more to patient care than just completing a procedure. I love learning about our patients life experiences, where they have lived, family traditions, what they have done, and what they are going to do.

I believe one of the best aspects of dentistry is the preventative care we provide. If we are able to intercept potential problems early, it can make a huge impact for our patients later in their lives.

Dr. Jon Mehr, DDSisagraduate of theUniversity of Idaho (1993) and Creighton University School of Dentistry (1997).Drs, Jon and Martha Mehr began practicing in Leesburg, FL in 1999 where they live with their three children, Sam, Kate and Ryan.

Dentistry continues to change with advancements in technology and techniques. Dr, Jon stays current with these changes by being active in continuing education and taking courses at the Spear Institute and belongs to the ITI Implant Study Club as well as being a member of the ADA, FDA and Lake County Dental Society.

The practice is state of the art using Cerec to create and deliver crowns and other bonded restorations at the same visit. The Dexis digital X-rays reduce radiation exposure time for the patient while improving diagnostic ability. The sterilization equipment is modern with tested results.

I love dentistry and making people feel good about their smiles. I love the fact that Central Florida and Leesburg attract people from all across the country. The stories they share of their life experiences are varied and interesting. I enjoy the fact that I can know them throughout the years as they come for checkup visits. We want our patients to feel welcomed and special.

I am constantly enrolling in continuing education courses so that I can serve my patients better and with more efficiency. I participate in two area study clubs for dental continuing education. One is the Spear Study Club which combines worldwide information and networking with hands on local dental knowledge to improve my clinical expertise. This is so valuable with the ever changing dental field as I can timely offer my patients the most current dental options. The other study club focuses on dental implants and restoration.

I met and married my husband, Jon, when we were at Creighton University. I moved back to Leesburg after nine years away at college, and have now been here 23years. Jon and I have three children. Sam is eighteenyears old, Kate is seventeen, and Ryan is fifteen. I am lucky that my parents and extended family also live in Leesburg.

I enjoy spending time with my children, traveling, snow-skiing, hiking, and boating. Jon taught me to fly fish at 9,000 feet elevation in the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho. We were the only campers for miles!

I have been a member of PEO, an international philanthropic organization, for the past 20 years. I am also active in my church andand support our local schools. I have participated in the Jamaica Medical Mission organized and sponsored by the St. James Episcpal Church and the Church of St. Mary's. For five years I have traveled to Jamaica and served with over 70 medical and dental providers and support staff to treat and educate patients with dental needs.

I am honored to introduce myself and want to express the enthusiasm I feel workingwith Drs. Jon and Marja Mehr. I take pride in doing quality, detailed work and I enjoy the artistry that is incorporated into each patients treatment. My engineering background works well with dentistry in many ways. I look forward to meeting each of you.

As for a little about me. My wife, my high school sweetheart, and I grew up in a small town in southern Oregon. I obtained a civil engineering degree in 1999 and then worked in a family business with my wife for about a decade before deciding to go back to school to pursue dentistry. The experience of my oldest daughters premature birth was a huge factor in helping me realize I would enjoy working with people in a medical setting, ultimately leading to this career change. I joined the Navy during dental school and am honored to have served until 2018 when I transitioned into private practice. My family and I enjoyed each and every place we were stationed and I took advantage of the many opportunities afforded to me including training under a very talented dental and medical team at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD where many of my patients were wounded warriors. This was such an honor. I also participated in multiple humanitarian missions in Asia and Australia and I continue to be a part of the Navy team by serving in the reserves two weeks a year and one weekend a month.

My wife and I have five children, 2 dogs and depending on the day maybe a frog, lizard or whatever else the kids decide to bring home. Our oldest, Maddie, is newly married and living in Texas and our four youngest children are adopted from the Philippines. There is no greater reward and, as Im sure many of you know, no harder job than parenting but overall, we are grateful and wouldnt trade that gift for anything. Having said that, you can imagine that my hobbies include whatever activities the kids are involved in. As a family, we love the water and any activities surrounding it. We also love to travel and enjoy whatever involvement we have the opportunity to pursue within our church.
