Dr. Brian Hoyner is a native of Gaylord, MI. After graduating from Gaylord High School as the salutatorian of his class in 2002, Dr. Hoyner continued his educational pursuits at the University of Michigan. He graduated with his bachelors of science in 2006 and then immediately enrolled in the University of Michigans School of Dentistry. He graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2010. Dr. Hoyner belongs to both the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association.

After graduating from the University of Michigans School of Dentistry, Dr. Hoyner worked in Virgina at Drs. Kail and Cox, Inc. Here he had the opportunity to work and learn alongside two dentists with over 60 years of clinical experience, and enjoyed taking advantage of the beautiful weather and plentiful outdoor activities the area had to offer.

After a year of working in Virgina, the appeal of beautiful northern Michigan and the opportunity to join his father, Dr. Richard Hoyner, as a partner in business persuaded Dr. Hoyner to return to Gaylord. Dr. Hoyner spent six months practicing alongside his father, before purchasing the practice outright in 2011. Dr. Hoyner now leads the practice, providing care to patients in the community.

As Dr. Hoyner continues his family tradition of providing excellent dental care to the Gaylord community, he is acutely aware of the necessity to remain on the cutting edge of current dental practices. As a part of his commitment to offer the best of emerging new technologies and techniques, Dr. Hoyner attends regular continuing education courses to keep his skills up-to-date. Dr Hoyner particularly takes pride in his new implementation of the CEREC single visit crown techniques and soft tissue laser technologies into his practice.

When he is not in the office on Main Street, Dr. Hoyner enjoys the many outdoor activities that living in northern Michigan offers. In the summer time he can be found hiking or biking on Michigan trails; in the winter he takes advantage of the record snowfalls by hitting the ski slopes or by snowshoeing over the high drifts. Dr. Hoyners rowdy puppy Chase joins him in many of the outdoor adventures. No matter the season, Dr. Hoyner finds great pleasure in living in northern Michigan and serving the community he grew up in.

Maggie is Main Oak Family Dentistrys office manager. She has lived in the Gaylord area since 1987 and has been with the practice since 2005. Previous to her move, she had studied at Central Michigan University in the hospitality program. Maggie and her husband, Tim, have one son and two daughters, a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law. A toy schnauzer named Charlie rounds out the Granahan family. When not managing our office, Maggie enjoys gardening and travel.

Casey has been Dr. Hoyner's chairside dental assistant since 2012. After graduating from Gaylord High School she attended Western Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Advertising and Promotion and a minor in General Business.

Kim Sewell and her husband, John, are thrilled to be making Gaylord their permanent residence, returning to John's hometown. Having recently purchased a house and adopted two cats, Lucy and Amos, they are now settled and excited to become involved in the community.

Kim grew up in Niles, MI and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree from Ferris State University. She was a registered dental hygienist in Frankfort, MI before accepting her position at MainOak Family Dentistry in 2013. Feel free to challenge Kim with any question regarding trends in dentistry as she loves exploring evidence-based research to satisfy her curiosity as well as to educate her patients.

Mallory has been part of our Main Oak Family Dentistry team since 2006. She took some time away to attend Ferris State Universitys School of Dental Hygiene, graduating in 2010, then returned to lead our hygiene department. In her leisure time Mallory loves outdoor activities including running, biking, and Jeep rides. She also is an avid crafter, her main focus being knitting, sewing, and soap making. Mallory has enjoyed getting to know her patients as individuals and looks forward to managing their continuing care.

Doctor and Maggie were great. My broken off tooth proved a challenge for all 3 of us. No way did the insurance payment cover what they deserved for their efforts. Still and always a satisfied patient.

Just got back with my young daughter from this wonderful office. She had to have a couple of teeth removed and they were fantastic! She walked out of the chair with a smile on her face. The enitre staff was so friendly and the dentist explained everything that was happening and answered all of her questions. By far the best experiene we have ever had! Thank you so much!!

I would give this Place and the Dentist a 5/5. After going in as a completely new patient because my gf recommended them, they immediately had me on their schedule for an appt within a week for a problem I had with a tooth. Originally it was supposed to just be an evaluation. But the Dr. Surprised me by asking if I wanted it removed that same day! I was very hesitant. Because I have SEVERE anxiety. The only downfall was that he didn't have nitrous. I only say that because the previous dental clinic really did horrible extractions. But he took his time, and actually numbed me several times. He didn't rush, and I would have to say that his dental extraction was by far the best I had. No infection afterwards because he went as far as cleaning the extraction site(which the other clinic never did). He joked, and was very informative. The environment was clean, the receptionist/nurse?...was also very polite. 5/5
