From the very beginning at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Dr. Mai prepared himself to be a premier dental caregiver and provide the most effective, personalized and comfortable treatments possible for his patients. Over the past 17 years, Dr. Mais expertise has grown to include virtually all restorative, preventive and cosmetic dental procedures and, when needed, in combination with various forms of conscious sedation, including intravenous. As a result, Dr. Mai has earned some of the highest patient ratings in the region.
Originally from Indiana, Carey moved to sunny Florida in 2012, joining Mai Dentistry in 2014. Through five fulfilling years with Dr. Mai as a dental assistant, patient care specialist, insurance coordinator and now as office manager, Carey has truly enjoyed connecting with her patients and team members. She is passionate about providing the best care for patients and finds her reward in their happy smiles. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her fianc, caring for their animals at home, pursuing adventures on the water and traveling to new places.
With over 17 years experience in the dental field, the last six with Dr. Mai, Kristina has handled front and back office responsibilities to make her patients treatment as pleasant as possible. In her role, she is responsible for explaining treatment options, recommendations and processes to patients, then assisting the doctors with their treatments by making sure everything goes smoothly. In her free time, she enjoys her two children, singing karaoke, being on the water and relaxing with friends.
Angelynn was raised in Honolulu, HI and moved to Florida at an early age. She has lived in FL for over 30 years. After several years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist, she joined Dr. Mai in his Hudson office and is now a member of the St. Pete team. In her free time she volunteers with foster kids, loves spending time with her husband, son and daughter, and enjoys traveling, diving, boating and photography.
Jennifer was born in New York and moved to Florida at a young age. Working with Dr. Mai since 2015 and with over 16+ years dental assistant experience, she has a true passion for making temporary crowns and bridges that change her patients lives. Outside of the office, Jennifer considers herself a homebody because she loves to spend time with her two kids and family; their favorite activities are beach vacations and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I chipped a tooth about 36 hours before a scheduled flight out of town. My regular dentist's office was closed that day, and not having a lot of time to research and make phone calls, I googled "emergency dental services" and Mai came up as an emergency provider near me. I was able to get an appointment immediately. The repair seems fine--no complaints about the treatment. However, I can't believe that I am the only patient befuddled by their fee/estimate process. After the assistant took an x-ray and the dentist looked into my mouth to confirm the problem, the assistant left and came back with a printed estimate of the cost of the procedure, which I agreed to, and she asked me to sign. When I went to check out, the charges were about 30% higher than the estimate, and it was only then explained to me that the estimate did not include the charges for the office visit or the x-ray. I examined the estimate sheet again carefully when I got home, and nowhere does it say anything about the estimate not including all charges. In fact, there is a line on the form labeled "Visit Totals" and that amount is the same as the estimate, which implies, at least to me, that all charges for that visit are included in the estimate.

Such a great dentistry office. Absolutely everyone there is great. So knowledgeable and always answer any and all questions for me. Their customer service is top notch. Whitney was my hygienist today and she was so gentle and very thorough. Thanks to all for a great experience!

So, today the dental assistant held my hand while I had a literal panic attack and was covered in sweat over my appointment. I know it's stupid, but she didn't make me feel silly for my irrational fear. Also, the dentist himself wiped my brow when I started sweating. Great practice. Highly highly recommend

Very worst dental expereince I ever had in my entire life..To sum it up If you do not treat patients with a humane feeling you won't have any. And this practice doesen't even come close. Escalated my concern to a represenative last thurs. Sitll no call back or follow up. Apparently no one cares. I will not be back and certainly would not recommend. Actually they don't even deserve a one rating. Should be zero.

Don't go here!! I have been using this practice for over a year and spent thousands of dollars. I was using another dentist who moved away recently, so I saw Dr. Mai this week. He was awful - rude and condescending. I went in to have cavities filled, two of which were from fillings that came out - filled at his office less than a year ago. He didn't fill them - instead said I needed crowns on all 4 bottom teeth which I do not. He told me to "Be quiet and don't talk" so that he could say what he wanted. After he talked, I tried to say a couple of things and he interrupted me and told me why that wasn't right. He even started explaining what a cavity is, which of course I know. I initially went to this dentist office because of the good reviews. These need to be corrected so others don't make the same mistake.

Stay away from this unprofessional dentist. Might have a nice looking building but beware what is inside. Conduct very disappointing and I was almost ready to spend $15,000 on dental work. Kept me waiting for 4 hours to pull a tooth and then laughed at me crying His comment c "Oh I save the best for last"!! Shame on you.

Very unprofessional and lacked compassion. 11 am appointment for an extraction and finally got tooth pulled at 345. Dr. says "oh we just saved the best for last" I was ready to spend $15,000 with this inconsiderate person. Good luck.

Dr. Mai has done several procedures on my teeth so far. Including several fillings and a crown. I don't usually like going to the dentist but Dr. Mai and his staff have made me feel comfortable and I now LOVE going to the dentist.

This was the best experience I have every had at the dentist. I needed a complete mouth restoration including bridges, implants, extractions and root canals. The job was done painless and with great care. Dr. Sheoran and her staff were fantastic, i recommend this denial office with the highist regard.

Honestly my 1st appointment went well the but getting the 2nd appointment was difficult because they kept rescheduling my appointment then when I finally got my 2nd appointment scheduled i had gave them my insurance information before my 2nd appointment so someone told me that I will have any problems and I wouldn't have to pay and then when I get to my 2nd appointment they didn't have my insurance information in the system

Just moved to the area and was looking for a new dentist. Initially chose this one due to its' close location and the exterior appearance. The first time I called, someone picked up the phone and then promptly hung up with out saying anything. I called back a second time to inquire as to whether or not they accepted my insurance. They said PPO yes, but HMO no. I told her that my card did not state which I had and asked if if she could find out. She said, "No, you'll have to contact them yourself" and then hung up on me. HUH??? What kind of customer service is that? Guess they lost a new patient. Unacceptable. Glad I found out before going. NOPE!

My experience with Dr. Mai was horrible. He was very rough and unconcerned about my discomfort. Although I was in a lot of pain afterwards, I refused to see him again for any follow up. I asked to see the other dentist and was told no. I will skip the whole sordid tale, but after two months of pain and finally allowed to see the other dentist, I was told I needed to see an oral surgeon for a root canal. Horrible. I gave one star because I was unable to give zero.

I'm a new patient at Mai Dentistry and couldn't be more pleased, 5 stars! The office in St Pete is new and modern, equipment is start-of-the-art, staff is professional & friendly with a good sense of humor, Dr. Hultgren DMD is experienced and patient-focused, Angelynn the Hygienist is thorough with a gentle touch -- the best cleaning ever, and my appointments start on time. Overall positive experience. So glad I made the switch. Looking forward to my next dental visit.

Amendment below I should have gone to Aspen Dental. While I cannot speak about Dr. Mai but Dr. Hultgren dragged me along for about 6 months barely did anything and eventually passed me off to another dentist and now I have to spend a lot more money and get a lot more work. The main cause was the 6 month gap. DO NOT SEE DR HULTGREN. Support staff was great and I never saw Dr. Mai this is solely about Dr. Hultgren While I stand by my assessment of dr. Hultgren I have since seen Dr. Mai. He was wonderful. He dealt with me on a very difficult case and tackled it magnificently. He was kind professional and understanding. I had scheduling restrictions and he and his staff were extremely accommodating. The only issue this office really seems to have is Dr. Hultgren. Please don't see him but definitely see Dr. Mai. He is great that's a all I can say. If I could rate each Dr. Mai would get 4.75 Hultgren would get none.

Normally I'm scared to death of the dentist but after coming here I no longer scared they have extremely friendly staff very professional made me feel like family and the work that they've done on my mouth is it more than I could ever imagine I definitely recommend anyone to come here
