As he began his journey to becoming a premier dentist at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Dr. Mai committed himself to the highest level of excellence possible. A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore, MD, Dr. Spears has built a foundation of extensive knowledge and experience in Dentistry. He also completed a postdoctoral residency for an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) with Lutheran Medical Center based in Brooklyn, NY. He received his Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.
Dr. Spears was born in California and raised in Maryland from the age of four. Following his education, he moved to Florida and has been practicing in the Sunshine State ever since. He is one of five children and when he is not practicing dentistry, he is traveling the world, hiking, playing sports, scuba diving, or spending time with his family and dog.
Originally from Indiana, Carey moved to sunny Florida in 2012, joining Mai Dentistry in 2014. Through five fulfilling years with Dr. Mai as a dental assistant, patient care specialist, insurance coordinator and now as office manager, Carey has truly enjoyed connecting with her patients and team members. She is passionate about providing the best care for patients and finds her reward in their happy smiles. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her fianc, caring for their animals at home, pursuing adventures on the water and traveling to new places.
With over 17 years experience in the dental field, the last six with Dr. Mai, Kristina has handled front and back office responsibilities to make her patients treatment as pleasant as possible. In her role, she is responsible for explaining treatment options, recommendations and processes to patients, then assisting the doctors with their treatments by making sure everything goes smoothly. In her free time, she enjoys her two children, singing karaoke, being on the water and relaxing with friends.
Originally from New Jersey, Christine moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1975. Her career began in banking, but she shifted her focus to dentistry and has been with Mai Dentistry since 2013s opening of the Hudson office. She finds working with her patients, Dr. Mai and the team at Mai Dentistry to be deeply enjoyable. Her personal interests include spending time with family and friends, learning as much as she can about health and dental care, and pursuing adventures traveling and kayaking.
Jennifer was born in New York and moved to Florida at a young age. Working with Dr. Mai since 2015 and with over 16+ years dental assistant experience, she has a true passion for making temporary crowns and bridges that change her patients lives. Outside of the office, Jennifer considers herself a homebody because she loves to spend time with her two kids and family; their favorite activities are beach vacations and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Marcela graduated from UMDNJ, School of Health Related Professions, and earned her license in Dental Hygiene in 1999. She later completed the Comprehensive Dental Hygiene Program at Las Vegas Institute. Bilingual (Spanish), she prides herself on her compassion and ability to put patients at ease to ensure a positive experience. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Running and dancing round out her leisure activities.
Jason was born in North Dakota and moved to Florida at a young age. He graduated with his degree as a Registered Dental Hygienist from Pasco Hernando State College, then achieved a license in anesthesia, and has five years experience as a hygienist. An avid landscaper, car enthusiast, and book collector, Jason also loves doing mixed martial arts and teaching it as well.
Having earned an extensive university education in health sciences internationally, and through military training abroad and in the U.S., Bacil found his calling from a young age and followed his dream of healing patients through dental care. Even while pursuing continuing education, he began his dental health career first as a dental assistant and then as a registered dental hygienist, always focusing on providing the best care possible. He deeply enjoys seeing his patients smiles and loves to spend time helping them learn better habits toward dental health.
Bacil has an M.S. in Health Sciences, is a licensed nurse practitioner and registered dental hygienist, and has also served proudly as an officer in the U.S. Navy. With over twenty years experience in the industry, he takes pride in his ability to continually grow his dental health skills while practicing, but still finds time each year to visit his family in Jordan and even volunteer in various local clinics on each trip.
Monica has over of 20 years dental assistant experience and loves to see the smiles on patients faces as they leave the office. Her personal interests include health and exercise, dancing, going to the beach and spending time with her children and her granddaughter.
