Growing up in the Richardson area, Dr. Vi Truong-Mai attended Berkner High School, then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Dallas in Irving. Since earning her Doctorate of Dental Science degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas in 1993, Dr. Mai has gathered a wealth of experience, continuing education, and professional affiliations that help her provide her patients with the very best dental care. After a one-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), Dr. Mai spent the next few years working and gaining professional clinical experience with a group practice in Fremont, California, and teaching at the prestigious University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. She opened her Garland dental practice, Mai Dental Care, in 1999.
Dr. Mai is especially proud of two particular professional achievements. First, she has attained Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor bestowed upon practicing dentists who have earned over 500 hours of continuing education, passed a rigorous fellowship examination, and maintained regular membership requirements. Second, Dr. Mai was awarded the L. D. Caruth/Dentsply Student Research Award, and has had her research on the effects of nitrous oxide published in The Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology. She also served as a clinical instructor at the Baylor College of Dentistry for many years, training the next generation of dentists.
In addition to volunteering at health fairs, Dr. Mai enjoys spending her time away from the office running marathons, swimming, playing piano, and spending time with her husband, Dr. Ke H. Mai, and her two children, Ashley and Kevin.
Marta has been a valued member of the Mai Dentistry team since June of 2000, and knows our patients and their families well. Her warm, welcoming personality, and her extensive knowledge of dental insurance and administration, make her an asset to our team. As comfortable on the administrative side of the practice as she is helping our patients in the treatment room, Marta brings a welcome friendliness to our office. Marta deeply treasures seeing our patients newly found confidence when they see their new smiles for the first time.
An active PTA member and president of the womens group at her church, Marta has been married for 18 years and is the proud mom of two teenage daughters. When shes away from the office, Marta enjoys spending time with family and loves cooking.
A graduate of ATI Career Training, Tania joined Mai Dentistry in 2008. Dedicated to furthering her education and skills so she can provide even better care for our patients, Tania is currently enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program at Collin College. In addition, she is a member of the American Dental Association. Tania enjoys getting to know all of our patients, and our patients appreciate her gentleness and patience as she shares her knowledge of dental hygiene. When shes away from the office, Tania enjoys attending the All Nations Fellowship church, spending time with her husband and two children, and playing softball.
Dr. Vi Mais husband, Dr. Ke Mai, is an integral part of the Mai Dentistry practice. A Doctor of Podiatric Medicine who also holds a Bachelors degree in Chemical engineering, and a Masters of Business Administration, Ke is on the medical staff at several area hospitals. In addition, he has a permanent office at Mai Dentistry where he can provide podiatric care for our valued patients. At Mai Dentistry, we truly believe in caring for our patients from head to toe! Dr. Ke Mai specializes in wound care, sports medicine, foot diseases, and diabetes limb care. His favorite part of the job is empowering and educating patients so that they can take an active role in leading a healthy, active lifestyle. Dr. Ke Mai is a member of the North Texas Vietnamese-American Health Professionals Association, and in his spare time he enjoys volunteering at health fairs, exercising, gardening, biking, and spending time with his wife and two children.
Cynthia earned her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from El Centro in 2018. She joined our team the same year and has completed certifications in the administration of CPR and nitrous oxide sedation. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and volunteers at elementary schools in the RISD to educate children about their oral health.
Cynthia loves providing compassionate care to patients of all ages, and enjoys helping someone new every day. She feels a great sense of satisfaction when she helps people gain a greater confidence in their smile. Cynthias patients enrich her life on a daily basis, and she feels privileged to get to know so many interesting people from so many different walks of life.
Mai Dentistry is conveniently located in North Garland near both Richardson and Plano. We also have patients who reside in Murphy and Wylie. Opened in 1999, Mai Dentistry is a family practice that serves a diverse population.
We incorporate the use of digital x-rays, diode lasers (for gingival contouring), and ultrasonic scaling. Dr. Mai is also proud to introduce DentalVibe, an innovative new technology that allows her to perform more comfortable injections. Our blog, in addition to our website, addresses patients questions and provides educational resources on a number of topics relating to oral health. Dr. Mai and her staff continuouslyupdate their knowledge of dental technology, techniques, and materials via continuing education courses.
As clinicians, we stress preventive care with regular cleanings and checkups. They are vital to maintaining good oral health. At your examination, Dr. Mai will perform a thorough checkup which includes necessary x-rays, an oral cancer screening, and screenings for tooth decay and gum disease. In the absence of gum disease, we will also perform a gentle but thorough cleaning. We look at the health of your mouth in the context of your overall health, since the two are closely related. Well review your medical history, current lifestyle, and current medications, which inform us as to how we should proceed with treatment/s.
Providing excellent care begins before you sit down in the dental chair. Our front desk is happy to guide you through the sometimes confusing maze of decoding insurance plans and treatments. This way, you can rest assured that you are making informed decisions regarding your dental procedures. We process billing accurately and efficiently, too.

Highly recommend! I cannot say enough good things about everyone here at Mai Dentistry. I first came to Dr. Mai back in 2010 and have been coming back to her for my routine dental work on a regular basis. Dr. Mai and the team members were thorough and professional in their recommended treatment plan, and helped me understand how critical my oral health is to my overall health. Clean facility and welcoming staff. Dr. Mai was very friendly during my multiple visits. I am happy with the service and treatments I received. Personally, I appreciate the Doctor's follow up call at the end of the day to make sure I am Wella free my appointment or procedure.

Very pleased and thankful that Dr. Mai was able to see me and determine that the discomfort I am experiencing is probabbly due to a root canel in my near future. She gave me her reference for a specialist. This appointment was last minute and Martha was able to worked me in for x-rays and exam. The entire staff is very friendly and professional. Very thankful

Super service! No complaints at all, everyone was very helpful! I usually get anxious about the dentist but totally relaxed here. The small details really made me feel comfortable. And most important was the cleaning and fillings were painless and done really well and quickly.

Horrible experience! I cannot believe some of the ratings listed for this dentist. This is by far the worst dentist I have ever met. Her attitude toward her employees is below par right along with her work. She filled my tooth and it now looks like a piece of Chicklet gum. Thankfully, it's located at the rear of my mouth however, due to the shabby work, my upper bridge broke as a result of this super large tooth clapping against the bridge. I cried for two days each time I looked at the tooth!!! She kept repeating, "this was a tough one, this was a tough one". Never returning!

I've never come back to any dentist after the first time, but Dr Mai is different. I feel Dr. Mai is caring for her patient than other dentists I met. I don't think I would go for any other dentist than Dr Mai.

Dr. Mai is the best dentist ! She is a perfectionist in her work; she makes sure that everything is perfect. I have had bad experiences in the past with other dentists but not anymore thanks to Dr. Mai. She even calls her patients at night to make sure that they are doing ok. Her staff are exceptional. They are all sweet and some have been with her for almost 20 years!! Go to Mai Dentistry if you are looking for an honest, gentle dentist.

Everyone at Dr Mai's office is amazing. I've been going there for almost 2 decades. Everyone is super helpful and kind! It is a very culturally diverse office and I for one am very grateful for that!

I felt a little nervous going to the dentist this year, however, Mai Dentistry put me at ease. They are following all CDC guidelines to keep themselves and their patients safe. Further, Dr. Mai does excellent dental work/ pain free!
