Dr. Louis Tieu graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry. He was selected to continue his specialty training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Tieu also completed the Medical Doctor program and graduted from the school of Medicine at the University of California, Davis. In Dr. Tieus spare time, he spend his time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys reading topics on leadership, mentorship, and Tom Clancy novels.
Dr. Ivana Yi was born in Utah and did her undergraduate training at UC Berkeley studying Mechanical Engineering and Cellular Biology. She did her Dentistry training at UCSF and post-graduate Periodontics specialty training at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center/UCLA. Through her experience at the VA, she was able to gain extensive training in treating medically complex patients in all aspects of periodontics including implant placement, bone and gum grafting, treatment of periodontal disease and peri-implantitis, and moderate sedation. Dr. Yi is an avid skier and snowboarder and enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking, camping, and backpacking.
Dr. Yulia Hui was born and raised in Russia. She graduated from the prestigious Tver Medical Academy in 1999 as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Hui immigrated to the United States in 2002 and has been practicing dentistry at Mai Dental Specialist since 2010. Dr Hui believe in treating all her patients like family. She loves nature and the great outdoors, spending time with her family travelling, hiking, camping, biking, and playing board games.
Dr. Peter Chen grew up in San Francisco and has been there since he was eight years old. After graduating as one of the top three students from Wallenberg Traditional High School, Dr. Chen continued to his college education at UC Davis and later on obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UC San Francisco. Afterwards, Dr. Chen further honed his dentistry skills by attending 2 years of Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center so he can better treat his patients. Family is extremely important to Dr. Chen and that is why he treats all his patients like family members. He truly enjoys practicing at Mai Dental Specialists because of the special office environment. Having almost all aspects of dental specialists at the office allows Dr. Chen to treat his patients to the highest standard as he knows he can always obtain the help and advise of other dental specialists when needed. In addition to the dental specialists, the friendly and family oriented office staffs and dental assistants relieve Dr. Chen of his office worries and allow him to concentrate all his effort in treating his patients to the best of his ability. In his time away from work, Dr. Chen enjoys his family time spend with his wife and son.
Dr. Lesley Fox is a bay area native and lives in San Jose with her husband and their two young children. She attended UCLA for undergrad and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Dr Fox enjoys practicing all aspects of general dentistry and is especially fond of working with children. In her free time, Dr. Fox enjoys reading, hiking, spin classes and spending time with her family.
Jonathan graduated Dental Hygiene School in Aptos, Ca from Cabrillo College, an affiliation with The University of Pacific, Aurthor A Dugoni School of Dentistry, San Francisco. Jonathan graduated the dental hygiene program with honors and was given the Western Society of Periodontology award for excellence in periodontics. He was also awarded the High Achievers Scholarship for his outstanding commitment to his field of study. Jonathan brings with him over 14 years of experience in the field of oral maxillofacial surgery. Jonathan holds certifications in iCat tomography and ACLS (advanced cardiovascular and life support). He also hold licences in local anesthesia, soft tissue curettage, and nitrous oxide/ oxygen induction. Jonathan grew up in the Los Gatos, Ca and attended Los Gatos High School. Jonathan is married to his wife of 10 years Melanie and has two sons Darius and Curtis. He enjoys spending time with his family and has a wide range of hobbies.

My family has gone to Mai Dental Specialist off Capitol in S.J. at different times and been most grateful for the excellent dental care we've experienced. Our daughters have had cleanings or wisdom teeth removal, as well as my husband has undergone extensive dental care from root canal procedures to essentially dentures. We were most impressed by Mr. Jonathan Hurtado, who is very educated & extremely knowledgeable. He put our mind at ease & walked us through each process, on what to expect. He also offered preventative practices to help such as using current technology, like electric toothbrushes, or water picks to help. I myself have never even had a cavity, so I appreciate all the in depth care for my family. The office is very pleasant and clean.

I have been going to this dentist for over 6 months now and it has been a great experience every time! I drive all the way from the east Bay Area but I would say that it's worth the drive because of their great staff and customer service. The place is also very nice and spacious. The a/c is at a good temperature and I like that they have purifiers around the lobby/front desk area. They are fast, efficient and very knowledgeable in what they do. Karen is great when scheduling appointments and answering any questions I had in regards to payments, insurance, or any general questions. I would definitely recommend this place!

I went to this dental clinic a few times for my teeth cleaning and teeth removal. Five months ago, I decided to have wisdom teeth removal at this clinic, and I was pleased with the removal.
