Dr. Welle is committed to quality care and a higher level of skill and training to meet your individual needs. His dedication to long-term oral health, comprehensive treatment, and care of his patients distinguishes him from other dentists.
Dr. Welle grew up in Lake Elmo and attended Mahtomedi High School. His interest in dentistry led him to the University of Minnesota Morris where he graduated with a BA in Biology. He continued his education by earning his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Minnesota Dental School, where he was recognized for his outstanding ability in Emergency Endodontics (root canals). In the summer of 2007 Dr. Welle was 1 of 5 in the U.S. chosen for a general practice residency at Hennepin County Medical Center. After a year in his residency, Dr. Welle accepted an associateship in New Hope where he practiced for five years. Today, Dr. Welle is excited to be leading an exceptional team at Mahtomedi Family Dental.
Joe graduated from Herzing University in 2012. He became interested in dentistry from his Uncle Tim Bray who was the founding Dentist at Mahtomedi Family Dental. After training Joe worked as an extern at the Veteran Affairs Medical Clinic in Minneapolis and then came to work with Dr. Bray. Joe enjoys working with patients and making them feel at home and comfortable.
Alethia has been at Mahtomedi Family Dental since 2016, but has been a dental assistant since 2001. She enjoys meeting new people and helping them achieve quality dental care. Alethia enjoys spending time with her son, Gabe and watching the Wild games with her husband Jay. As a family they like to fish, go on bike rides, and watch sunsets at the lake.
Rachael came to Mahtomedi Family Dental in 2016, with 15 years of experience as a Dental Assistant. Her favorite part of her job is patient care. When shes not with patients she loves spending time with her 2 boys. She also loves outdoor adventures, experiencing nature, and enjoys volunteering.
Nance is a graduate of the University of Minnesota where she obtained her Dental Hygiene License. She is married with two children and five grandchildren. When she is not taking care of her patients she loves to bike, kayak, read, and scrapbook.
Lisa graduated from Argosy University in 2015 with her Dental Hygiene License. She lives in Stillwater with her husband and young son. In their spare time her family enjoys traveling and spending time at the lake.
Brittany has been a Dental Hygienist for 5 years. She grew up in Rochester, MN where she also attend college and received her degree in Dental Hygiene. Family is very important to her and she is now an aunt! When shes not in the office she can be found taking her dog, Phoebe, for long walks, exploring new restaurants, traveling, or scoping out the art scene in the Twin Cities.
Angela has been part of our accounting and front office coordinating team since 2007. She graduated from Century College with a degree in Dental Assisting in 2007 and furthered her education with a certificate in management. She strives to help each patient understand any dental or accounting question that they may have. When shes not at Mahtomedi Family Dental, Angela is at home with her husband Andy chasing their two small boys Isaac and Nicholas.

Dr Welle and STAFF are as good as it gets... they not only care about their patients but have the skills and most recent technology to back it up.

I had a wonderful experience at Mahtomedi Family Dental! Every person I talked to was friendly, inviting, and professional. Brittany was my hygienist and she was absolutely amazing. Made me feel so comfortable, gave honest recommendations for concerns I had, and she also was very funny! She had me laughing several times. Dr. Welle was also so kind and friendly. He was professional and offered honest recommendations as well. I really appreciated that they didn't try to push extra treatments, xrays, etc for me to get done that weren't necessary! Overall my experience was 10/10! After having a negative experience at another dental office, this visit was a breath of fresh air! Will definitely be coming back!

Dr Welle and his staff offer truly painless dentistry with the latest available technology including same day crowns. I will continue to recommend their office to friends and family. They are the best.

Great doctor!!!! I was nervous and Dr. Welle made me feel calm and listened to my concerns. I didn't feel any pain and my teeth feel great. I highly recommend him-- and the staff is INCREDIBLE! You won't find better out there. I travel all the way from St Paul to go to this office and it's worth it.

5 years ago we found Dr. Welle and to this day our family of four cannot say enough good about the team. Multiple dentists found something to fix at every visit and it became a struggle just to go for cleanings and check ups. This is not the case with Dr. Welle and his staff. They are honest, professional, extremely good at what they do, and above all else very nice people. If my husband now goes to see the dentist, you can be assured it's not that scary!

Dr. Welle's technical skills are unequaled in my 60 plus years of dental care. Complicated root canal....patience of a saint....implants.... he has successfully done 3 for me....sinus lift surgery....no problemo....crowns....same day....and if it can not or should not be done he will tell you....so....extractions....bring on the laser. Advanced equipment, superior knowledge and skill, and a friendly supportive crew behind him from the front desk and beyond.

Went there for a crown after I broke a tooth. The staff and Dr. Walker were amazing. They were courteous, quick to get me in. Quality work and best of all, painless! Highly recommend.

Dr.Welle and his staff are amazing. I have horrible anxiety about going to the dentist and used to have to get gas to calm me. I am so happy to say I don't ever need it when I come here. They are so calming and always make sure I am ok when I am in that chair. Also they gave me a smile that i now want to show off!! Best dental office I have ever been to in my life! So grateful to have found them!!!
