Dr. Mahn may be the nicest man I've ever met. His assistant (I think named Paula) is just as great. I was referred by my Invisalign orthodontist after I asked about a gingivectomy for gummy smile. At my consultation, he took some measurements and x-rays, he explained why I wasn't a good candidate for gingivectomy but something called crown lengthening surgery would be better. The word surgery made me a little nervous but he explained in detail exactly what it was and how it's done. You can tell he truly loves what he does and wants to make you feel like your best self. He was so excited to do it for me and was so excited for how beautiful it was going to look. His price was fair and even if you don't think your insurance will cover it, submit it anyways! I wasn't expecting to get anything but mine gave me $1000! The procedure was totally painless and recovery was very easy. I had stitches you couldn't even see, and got them out a week later. He was thrilled with the results and so am I. From the few times I've met him I can tell he truly is a great human and I can't recommend him enough!!

Dr. Mahn and his staff are amazing! I had a gum graft done, and he explained the procedure thoroughly at the initial exam, and made me feel calm and comfortable before, during, and after the procedure. The office staff was consistently helpful and kind as well. 100% recommend!

My experience with Dr. Mahn and his staff was exceptional. They were easy to coordinate with and provide a level of care that is next level. I'm very happy with my choice and would recommend Dr. Mahn to anyone looking for periodontal work or an expert opinion. His assistant Paula is wonderful as well.

I am dental phobic and known to sit and audibly sob in the chair. Dr Mahn took plenty of time to chat prior to beginning his dental examination and I felt more like a friend then a client. The day of surgery passed in a haze thanks to a wonder pill and a wonderful team. Checkup was easy and I almost wished I had more work to do. I wish our insurance had covered some of it but it was still worth every uncovered cent. Highest recommendation and gold star to Dr Mahn and his whole team.

*Long post alert* What a life changing experience this has been. I have had a gummy smile all my life and had always wondered how it could be changed. Over the last few years I've discovered that I also have bimaxillary protrusion and feared I would need invasive surgery to get the desired look. I mean surgery that involves breaking my jaw-ahh! So I searched and Googled my brains away until I stumbled upon lip repositioning and gingivectomy. Now I reside in Maryland but I almost went to North Carolina to get these procedures done because not many people do them! And I love to smile but don't like my gums making a special guest appearance. I kept googling and found Dr. Mahn. It was a match made in heaven. I gave his office a call and Dori was so helpful! She was able to get me set up for same day consultation and surgery. Dr Mahn called me that same day to go over what to expect (very thoroughly, I might add) and gave me his cell where I can reach him at anytime if I have questions. Surgery day came and everything went smoothly thanks to him and his staff. Paula (his assistant) was there every step of the way! She was very reassuring and a calming presence. The recovery was a little rough but that is to be expected after surgery and with stitches throughout your gums...doc made himself available when I had any concerns. I had my 3 month follow up today and I have officially graduated. I have minimal scarring and my smile looks great, he even touched up a tooth! I made the mistake of referring to him as a dentist at my appt, so sorry lol! He is the best Periodontist around and he has transformed my smile and given me a confidence boost that I never thought would come in this lifetime. He is a genius. I can smile freely without throwing my hand up over my mouth to cover my "excessive gingival display." This may be a minor cosmetic problem to some but it really means alot to me that I was able to have this done. Thank you so much Dr. Mahn and to all your staff! You guys are top notch.

I had notable lower gum recession and knew for years this surgery was coming. Dr. Mahn completely mapped out the procedure for me and the surgery was nowhere near as painful as I had imagined and recovery was much easier than I had thought. Great experience and found the staff to be personable and supporting. End result was phenomenal.

Dr. Mahn is extremely thorough and helpful. He is wonderful at his craft. I went to his office after major facial trauma. He and his team were very kind and helpful. They provided me with best care possible. Each member of the facility is helpful and compassiinate. I highly recommend him. And I am thankful to my orthodontic who referred me to Dr. Mahn. It was long drive for me but it was totally worth it!!!

Due to gingivitis (my fault), I wound up with gingivitis and bone lose. As a result, I had to have all my teeth removed and two implants placed in my lower jaw. Dr. Mahn came up with a treatment plan that fit my budget, and we took things slowly and carefully. Extractions went off without a hitch--upper jaw first and then about a month later the lower jaw. (I had dentures already made, so I was able to keep eating.) Pain control was great for the extractions and even better for putting in the implants and then exposing them. Pre- and post-op meds were prescribed, and I healed up great!. Can't recommend enough!

I have worked within the dental field for about 15 years among general, pediatric, oral surgeons, and periodontal dentists, and I can genuinely state Dr. Mahn is top-notch. Upon my initial consultation for a crown lengthening on a front tooth which has been a long-time issue, I was blown away by the attention to detail. Typically we are our own worst critics, knowing the slight differences of shape, size, and symmetry of our teeth where others may not take note. Dr. Mahn gave me every minute of my appointment time to measure, explain, and provide numerous options for my treatment plan. He is honest; if there is any uncertainty of the next step, he will tell you but rest assured he WILL find an answer! I appreciate that so much. It speaks volumes for his integrity. Dr. Mahn wants the best result keeping both aesthetics and health in mind. He cares about every one of his patients, making us feel like we are his only one. My procedure was seamless; aside from my nervous tears, he and his assistant were gentle and quick. There was no time wasted between getting started and wrapping up. My final result is fantastic; he is a true dental artist! Being embarrassed to smile fully for years, I can confidently let go and smile away! 100% recommend Dr. Mahn; he is the man!

It's rare to find a health care professional who goes out of their way to give you the best care, but Dr. Mahn is the real deal. I just finished my 2nd of 3 sessions for gum grafting and the process could not have been simpler. The man is an artist and he is worth every penny. I highly recommend trusting him and his team with all your periodontal needs.

I've never experienced such positivity in a doctor's or dentist's office before. The staff is so friendly and extremely communicative, both with each other and with you, the patient. When Dr. Mahn is explaining treatment options to you, he actually has a conversation with you and listens to your questions and concerns. I felt heard whenever I spoke which is such a great feeling to have when with a medical professional. Really puts you at ease. And when it comes to his expertise and abilities, he's unrivaled. He doesn't just do cookie cutter procedures. He is constantly doing research and writing papers for new and innovative procedures. When it comes time to decide on your treatment, he runs through EVERY option, even ones he doesn't offer. If he believes one of those is the best option, he'll refer you to a trusted colleague in the area. He has your best interests in mind.

Have been at Dr.Mahn's for Sinus lifts, Bone grafts, implants including those for bridges. What i can vouch for is his unmatched skills through this all! Not one time were there any complications leave alone pain post procedure. Personally, it was very reassuring to be in Dr.Mahn"s hands in each of these 'not so straight"campaigns. Hats off to his Office Manager - Dory as efficiency personified! Will miss some great chats as well!

I saw Dr. Douglas Mahn for a gum graft in the summer of 2020. He is very professional and explained everything he would be doing through my procedure. His explanation and pleasant demeanor were very comforting. The graft went in successfully and his front office staff handled all the insurance paperwork.
