Dr. Lawrence W. Maher, III and Dr. Gayla Maher are a husband and wife team that have been practicing dentistry in La Porte for 24 years. To avoid confusion, their staff and patients affectionately refer to them as Dr. Lawrence and Dr. Gayla.They enjoy providing quality dental care to their patients in a friendly, caring environment with a family feel.
Dr. Lawrence Maher, III, grew up in La Porte, Texas. He graduated from La Porte High School in 1983. He began his college career at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, while running cross country for the college. Dr. Lawrence completed his undergraduate education with a degree in Biology from Texas A&M University in College Station.
Dr. Lawrence then earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. During dental school, he was an active member of the Xi Psi Phi Fraternity, serving as Vice President, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. After attaining his DDS degree, Dr. Lawrence participated in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency.
Dr. Gayla Maher grew up Roscoe, Texas, a small farming community in west Texas. She graduated from Roscoe High School in 1983, as valedictorian of her class. She attended Angelo State University on an academic scholarship and graduated with a B.S. degree in Biology.
Dr. Gayla earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Gayla was an active member of the Xi Psi Phi Fraternity, and served three years as class representative for the American Student Dental Society. After attaining her DDS degree, Dr. Gayla participated in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency.
Both doctors take pride in providing their patients the best possible dental care, while allowing them to have the most pleasant experience possible. They take the time to get to know each patient and truly listen to their dental concerns, treating them with the respect and compassion they deserve. Drs. Maher want every one of their patients to feel like part of their dental family. The doctors and staff at Maher Dental Center maintain a commitment to their patients by striving to provide the perfect combination of personal care, continuing education, and high levels of care and technology.

Dr. Maher and his entire staff are highly knowledgeable, friendly and professional! As a new patient you never know what you are walking into, however they made me feel COMPLETELY at ease and the entire visit was fantastic! They've created a plan for me that I am comfortable with, and I would highly recommend them! Thank you all at Maher Dental Center!

Maher Dental Center have never advertised on TV. The Maher Dental Center Staff are very good people. Word of Mouth is better advertising. Need A Dentist? Call Doctor Lawrence Maher!!

I have been going to Maher Dental for over two years. They always take good care of me. The administration are always smiling. Even though going to the dentist is not my favorite thing this center puts me at ease. I highly recommend this dental center

Coming to the Maher Dental Center is like meeting with friends. Everyone, office staff, hygienists, Drs. Mayer, goes out of their way to make a pleasant experience for their patients. We have being going to MDC for over 30 years, and can't imagine going anywhere else.

I love this office. Everyone is so caring and professional. I'm in my 30s and I called them crying about a toothache and they fit me in the same day. I've had anxiety at dentists since I was a child and they helped me keep calm the whole visit. I plan on switching my children to this office. Would definitely recommend!

Through the years, I've been to a lot of dentists (for dental work, not just cleanings) but finally admitted that the best one has been Dr. Lawrence Maher. It's an hours drive for me so I hesitated to return but once I did, was glad to have done it. He is 100% worth a long drive. He is one of the top dentists you can go to. La Porte has a real jewel and isn't aware of it. Do yourself a favor, skip Castle Dentle or whatever chain there is, and go here instead. Your teeth will thank you.
