Dr. Magruder grew up locally in Dickinson, Texas and received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University. He went on to receive his DDS at UT Health Science Center- San Antonio. He is very detail oriented regarding his dental work (his assistants would say a little OCD) and strives to provide his patients with Dentistry of the absolute highest precision and quality; dentistry that is built to last. Dr. Magruder invests a lot of his time reading dental literature and attending continuing education courses in order to stay on the cutting edge in dentistry. He has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and is working toward earning accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dr. Magruder genuinely cares for each of his patients and treats everyone like family. As a direct descendent of General John B. Magruder, Dr. Magruder discovered that he has an interesting historical connection to the island. General John B. Magruder was a Confederate Civil War General who took back control of Galveston Island from the Union Army during the Civil War in 1863.
When Dr. Magruder is not busy in the office perfecting your smile, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with his wife Sonia, baby boy Benjamin, and Labrador Boss. You may also find him chasing speckled trout and redfish in the Galveston Bay complex or Laguna Madre.

The hygienist, Ricardo, and Dr. Hoang were very gentle and comprehensive in my care. The office is clean and easy to find. Staff were kind as well.

I have been going to this practice since I was a small child and the transition from Dr. Krumholz to Dr. Magruder has been flawless. Dr. Magruder is a great doc, very knowledgeable, and great with his patients. I still drive all the way from downtown Houston just to get my teeth cleaned.

This is the first dentist I have not dreaded going to see. From the time I was a kid, all my dental experiences have been horrible to the point I never understood how they were still in practice. Dr Magruder and his staff have been amazing! Every single person I've encountered on staff have been really kind and patient. I haven't once left the office in tears. If every dentist was like this one, dental phobias would cease to exist. I can't recommend him highly enough. If you are in need of a dentist, THIS is the practice you need to come to. 100%

We've been coming to here for years and have always been pleased with the service. Dr. MaGruder listens to us and doesn't discount our thoughts or feelings. They are great with kids and have an amazing amount of patience. Truly a great family practice!

I just completed orthodontic treatment with Dr Sonia Magruder it's was great to have a local practice of great quality. I loved they made me part of the discussion about my treatment goals rather than feel pushed into options I didn't care for which made me reject dental treatments before.

I love this practice and have been coming for years. The entire staff; Angelica at the Front Desk, Liz my hygienist and of course Dr. McGruder are awesome. They always discuss any issues I may have and suggest possible treatment options. I also appreciate that they print out the treatment plan for my review. I will never go to any other practice!

I received my orthodontics treatment here. I was not quite sure at the beginning as I am almost 40 years old. However, Dr. Sonia Magruder made a treatment plan that works well for me. Like others, I also appreciate the front desk Angelica's courtesy and prompt reply all the time.

Fabulous stuff, courteous and professional. They make you feel comfortable and calm, a plus for any dentist office, but Magruder Dentistry has fine tuned calm & comfort to a tee.
