His love for dentistry won and Dr. Matt obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Columbia University. His desire to perform comprehensive general dentistry led him to complete his general practice residency at Newark Beth Israel, where he saw a high volume of medically and dentally complex cases.
Dr. Matt has also completed advanced training in implant placement, root canal therapy, and Invisalign. In order to win his mother over, he became involved in research aimed at reducing anxiety in dental patients and is passionate about putting nervous patients at ease. After completion of his residency, he relocated to South Carolina where he has been practicing in a busy private practice.
Dr. Matt and his wife Lauren have a new daughter, Allie, and two dogs, Mimi and Molly. They love exploring their community, cooking, running, and soaking up the South Carolina sunshine. Dr. Matt is also an avid skier, although it may be time to trade in his snow skis for water skis. He loves getting to know his patients and learning about their lives in addition to their dental concerns.
After working for a few years as a patient satisfaction specialist at a busy radiology practice, she pursued her passion of healthcare and working with people by attending NYUs School of Nursing. She spent several years working as an obstetric and public health nurse prior to the arrival of her daughter, Allie.
Between the birth of Allie and the birth of Magnolia Family Dental, Lauren decided to trade in her scrubs for, well, new scrubs and take on the role of practice manager. She loves combining the skills she obtained working in an administrative role with her clinical knowledge, and the opportunity to expand that knowledge in the dentistry world. There is nothing more important to Lauren than making sure every patient and staff member leaves feeling appreciated, happy, and genuinely excited to come back.
Tristan is the first friendly face youll meet at Magnolia Family Dental. Originally from the little town of Latta, she found her happy place in the city of Charleston. Tristan graduated from the College of Charleston with a major in communications and entered the hospitality industry. She was excited when an opportunity arose to use her hospitality skills in the dental world, and hasnt looked back! Her goal is to make every patient leave with a genuine (and healthy) smile.
At Magnolia Family Dental, we do everything possible to minimize, and in some cases eliminate, the typical discomforts of a dental office. Theres never been a better time to straighten your teeth with the most advanced clear aligner in the world. Our office is proud to be a certified provider of Invisalign clear aligners, which give you a clear, convenient, and comfortable option to achieve the smile youve always wanted.
We will use a scanner such as the iTero digital scanning system to create fast, precise 3D digital images of your teeth. Then we will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and how long your treatment will be. Youll even get to see how your teeth will move and preview your new smile.
As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. We may recommend that you begin wearing a new set of aligners every week and schedule checkups every six weeks or so.

Dr. Michael has the hands of a surgeon. Very friendly and professional. The whole staff of this place is freaking awesome. I will go back here as long as I live in ladson. I have never been a fan of any dentist office, but this place is clean, modern and doctors/staff are freakin awesome. Go here. Trust me.

I went in for a cleaning and a few fillings and everyone at this office was so nice from start to finish! The dental hygienist Catherine made my teeth feel so smooth and clean, and worked out a realistic plan to keep them that way. I have a lot of dental anxiety and Dr. Michael and his assistant Jessica were so gentle, and repeatedly asked if I was doing okay which was very comforting. Jessica also gave me a weighted blanket and headphones to ease my nerves. The injections to numb me up are always the worst part, and I swear I didn't feel a thing! Would recommend to anyone looking for a trusting dental home, already love this office!

The best experience for something you hope you never need! Dr. Matt and the entire team are hands down the best, most knowledgeable, skilled, caring, friendly, confidence inspiring team of dental professionals I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I called early morning for an emergency appointment and they were able to get me in the same day. Everything from start to finish was explained in detail. I needed a crown and the crown was made in office and placed the same day! I felt informed and confident that I was able to make the best decision possible. The execution was absolutely flawless. Dr Matt is very gentle and I hardly felt a thing! My assistant Jessica was fabulous and took excellent care of me. While I hope to never go through that process again, I am glad to know that such a competent doctor and team is here for everything in the future!

I recently moved to the Cane Bay area from metro-Charlotte. I loved my dentist there but needed a new provider here. I went to a practice very close to my new home and was sadly disillusioned. It felt insincere and I was pressured to sign and start a treatment plan in excess of $8k. I sought a second opinion at Magnolia. What a night and day experience. The staff couldn't be any nicer. The office was contemporary, attractive and inviting. Better yet, the dentist, Dr. Sperber, was extremely professional and a super nice human being. He also found major flaws with initial treatment suggestions by other practice. I do need some things done but his explanation was logical and reasonable. He included me in the treatment plan. I am so very happy I found Magnolia Family Dental! I know I will be well cared for from this point on!

This is by far my favorite dental practice of all the ones I've been to. The staff is exceptionally friendly. The office is very clean and very nicely appointed. The staff seemed genuinely interested in doing everything to make me feel comfortable and welcome. Dr Sperber is a very intelligent, skilled dentist who I would trust to perform any dental procedure. I cannot recommend this practice enough!

I'm so glad I have found this practice. Been trying to find a good Dentist for years!! Since my first appt they have made me feel comfortable, explain in detail any questions or concerns that I might have. Been flexible with appts and scheduling and understanding that life happens!!
