Dr. Barker is originally from Athens, Georgia. He graduated Valedictorian from Jefferson High School in 1990 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia in 1994. After completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1998, Dr. Barker returned home to Athens to practice general and cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Barker launched Magnolia Dental Spa of Athens in 2019. His vision is to provide his patients with the ultimate level of comfort and to make a lifetime of healthy smiles possible with current technology and treatments that address changing dental needs of children and adults.
Christie brings an extensive background to our practice; she has 17 years' experience as a special educator and advanced degrees in sociology, education leadership and special education. As our office manager and Dr.Barker's spouse and business partner, she wears many hats always with a smile! Christie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, hiking, camping and learning newthings.

The office personnel is always a joy to see, from the receptionist to the dental tech l always see Ansley and she always makes me feel like family, she also takes care of my girls and is always has an amazing personality! Dr. Barker has an amazing team! Also l don't want to leave out the spa group and finance group everyone is amazing!

Dr. Barker and the Magnolia Dental Spa team are very kind, knowledgable, and attentive. I love how they consistently seek to offer modern dental treatment as well as spa perks. I definintely want to try the cozy neck wrap next time I'm in the dental chair!

My whole family uses Dr. Barker and the team here at Magnolia is terrific. They are kind and sweet and helpful... and the new comfort menu with heated neck pillows, etc. is fantastic.

Magnolia is by far, the best in Athens. I recently had a first time appointment with x-rays and a treatment plan. Before we could start treatment I had such a severe toothache that I lost sleep and called out of work. I called Magnolia, nervous, knowing I was new and fearing I may have to wait... however they rushed me right in and took care of it straight away. The staff is so sweet, Fay covered me in a weighted blanket and neck warmer as I waited on my treatment today. The girls up front were thorough and very kind with my 100 questions. I felt like family. I would recommend this dentist 10/10.
