Dental care for children is an important part of their total health program. We believe that caring for your child's teeth should not become a financial burden for you. In the event that full payment is not possible at the time services are rendered, we have some payment methods that may assist you.

A childrens dental specialist like Dr. Moffett is a practitioner who, after becoming a general dentist (often called a family dentist), has completed an additional two years of post-doctoral training in the recognition and treatment of childrens dental services.

Specialty education includes child psychology, behavior guidance, preventive techniques, restorative dentistry, and the treatment of children with special needs. Dr. Moffett has gone beyond the requirements of a Pediatric Dental Specialist, becoming Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

A thorough exam will be done to evaluate the health of your childs teeth, gums and mouth. Dr. Moffett will evaluate your child's growth and development and check to make sure your childs oral development is on track. Our office will make child-specific recommendations for the need of sealants, fluoride and other services based on your childs individual needs and habits.

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist, like Dr. Moffett, has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including...

Dr. Burton Moffett received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in 2002. He then completed the UAB School of Dentistry in 2006. Following two years in general dentistry private practice, Dr. Moffett pursued his dream of specializing in childrens dental care and returned to UAB to earn his specialty certificate in pediatric dentistry. While there, he was awarded and completed a fellowship in working with patients with special needs. During his private practice in Madison, Dr. Moffett became Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Moffett is married to his wife, Leslie. They have a daughter, Sarah, and a son, Jacob. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, outdoor activities, and college football.

We love Dr. Moffett and the wonderful staff at Madison Pediatric Dentistry! I have a very difficult child, who has EXTREME anxiety about the dentists/doctors, etc... The staff here are literally like a well oiled machine, and make what could be a very stressful situation, calm and routine. You can tell they have been thoroughly trained to handle children like mine, and their calmness keeps this stressed out momma calm! I appreciate how they handle my four year old! From the time you walk in the door, each staff member goes above and beyond. I drive an hour and a half to bring my child to this office, and highly recommend to anyone!

We love Madison Pediatric Dentistry! The team is so sweet and patient with my son who isn't quite a fan of the going to the dentist yet! We had Dr. Owens for this visit, and he was beyond patient and kind to myself and our screaming son at the time! They always make us feel so loved and it's greatly appreciated! :)

We love Dr. Moffett and his staff! Our kids have both gone here their entire lives. They are super efficient and so nice. We also love that they offer early appointments so that minimal school is missed.

I have loved every encounter with this practice until today. One month ago we arrived to the office for a procedure and it was noted we were scheduled with Dr. Owens. I was told that Dr. Moffett wanted to move my daughter to his schedule because he had worked on her before and preferred to render her care. I was thrilled about this, especially being a procedure and we had not met Dr. Owens. It was worth the hour wait to be moved. Today we arrive to the same procedure on a different tooth. I assumed that we wouldn't have the same mistake twice and end up on Dr. Owens schedule but we did. The assistant was nice enough to ask if we were okay seeing him because Dr. Moffett was not there. I said that was fine. I just wish parents were given clarification at the time the appointment was made regarding who the child would be seeing. Unfortunately- Dr. Owens was not nearly as skilled in pediatric communication. He lacked so much of the terminology and energy we have always enjoyed when seeing Dr. Moffett. There was little to no communication regarding what step was next or describing the tools being used. The topical numbing gel was only in place less than 90 seconds before Dr. Owens began injecting lidocaine so it was obviously very uncomfortable when it didn't have to be. There was a lot of pushing and pulling that we have never experienced with Dr. Moffett. Just overall a disappointing visit. I hate to compare one provider to another because no two will ever be identical. But I can definitely say I will be making the point to clarify we want our children seen by Dr. Moffett. Everyone has always been so kind and the office has always been so clean and I can say enough wonderful things about Dr. Moffett.

DR. Moffat is nothing short of awesome. We've been seeing him for 4 years. He is so gentle, thoughtful and careful. He has kid friendly names for shots and things. A shot is a scratch. Cavities are sugar bugs. There are movies on the ceiling of each chair. The staff is kind and courteous. I unreservedly recommend him and his associates!

I thought I had updated this so editing again to let those reading know. I did receive an apology and refund from Dr. Moffett's office. My children did like. Dr. Moffett and his staff and i appreciated the office owning up to their error. Thought I would share our experience with Madison Pediatric Dentistry LLC office of Dr. Moffett so hopefully others are aware of the financial surprises he is ok with allowing in his office. Approximately 2 weeks prior to visiting the office, I contacted my insurance to verify our insurance was taken because I was aware it was PPO and very specific in which providers it covered. I was told yes, that there was a provider in this establishment. I then made the appointment with the new patient coordinator, Erica. I asked, again, just to make sure that I was given correct info by insurance. I specifically stated: "we have delta dental PPO and you're sure it is accepted/covered?" She stated: "yes maam, absolutely." I gave my insurance information to her this day as well. The day of our visit, my kids are seen, they leave with their dad, and as they are walking out the door, they are called back in to a small room where they're told, "oh we don't actually accept this insurance plan so you owe $571.00 today." They called me, at which point I was brought up to speed. "Well our other doctor is a PPO provider but he only conducts surgeries for us. So, Dr. Moffett does not actually accept the PPO plan. This $571 is due today but if you pay in full, we are willing to write off $170 bringing the total to $471." I was told they would not see my other child (ok? Why would I come back to an office that lied to me and doesn't actually take my insurance?") and if I refused to pay the amount due that the $170 write off would no longer be allowed. I was hung up on but the billing receptionist, Tina. I've been awaiting an appeal response from my insurance but was told if it wasn't paid by today, I would be turned over to collections. Even though the wonderful woman I've been speaking with, whose name is Marty, agreed that under normal circumstances, insurance is checked prior to being seen and that standard procedures were not followed, Dr. Moffett was not willing to allow a payment plan or lower my total cost. The office staff did not verify my insurance coverage until nearly 2 hours after my children had arrived. And, Tina even stated "I knew there would be a problem when I saw it was T-Mobile PPO." So, this office was completely aware that there would be an issue, did not own up to the staffs mistakes, Dr. Moffett nor any other staff member apologized for their mistake or offered any acceptable options, and I just paid a $401 bill for routine cleanings, xray, and bite wings when I pay every month for dental insurance. AVOID. DO NOT USE THIS OFFICE UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED FOR THE FINANCIAL BURDENS LAID ON YOU FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCE.

I switched my son's dentist and this one right here is AMAZING! Everyone was so nice and caring. My son is actually excited about going back even though he had a few teeth filled. He isn't even aware he got injections.
