Sedation dentistry offers individuals with general anxiety about going to the dentist or fears about a specific dental procedure the opportunity to have a stress free and more comfortable experience. Utilizing safe and controlled sedation techniques prior to the dental procedure the patient is eased into a state of complete relaxation. This eliminates any discomfort, pain, and preoperative anxiety that may be associated with a particular dental visit. With sedation dentistry patients typically feel more at ease post-operatively as they have little or no memory of the actual moment-to-moment dental procedure.
Commonly referred to as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is used as a mild sedative to reduce anxiety and allow a level of relaxation during a procedure. Nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small mask over the nose. It is administered for the duration of the procedure and is turned off as the procedure is coming to an end. The effects of this method of sedation wear off very quickly.

Dr. Dan was born in South Korea and came to the States when he was 5 years old. Before moving down to Florida, he owned multiple offices in the Metropolitan New York area providing excellent dental care to a very high-end clientele, as well as community clinic settings for 15 years. He is married to Jan who is an emergency room nurse for the past 25 years, currently working at Moffitt Cancer Center. He has three children. The oldest is Benjamin who received Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and DMD degree from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Ben is currently working together with Dr. Dan. In the middle is Nina, who graduated from NYU School of Nursing and is currently working at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The youngest, Thomas is a fourth year dental student at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. When not in the office, Dr. Dan enjoys running, tennis, weight lifting, movies and meditation.
Dr. Benjamin Hwang (AKA Dr. Ben) was born in New York and raised here in Tampa, FL. He is the oldest son of Dr. Daniel Hwang. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and Doctor of Dental Medicine(DMD) degree from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine as a Dean's Scholar.
Dr. Ben is dedicated to providing his patient's with highest quality dentistry in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and Florida Dental Association.

I had my first appointment today with Lutz Dental and was examined by Dr. Thomas. You know how dentists poke around your teeth before they start a procedure...well Dr. Thomas did that and I didn't feel a thing which is awesome because I have extremely sensitive teeth/gums. Office visit which included x-rays and root canal took just short of 90 minutes. No wait time. Dr Thomas is awesome! I believe I have found my dental home. :D

Was able to save a cracked tooth and said he would finish an implant every other dentist said they wouldn't touch. They were fast and everyone in the office was very nice and professional!

Dr. Ben was quick, clean, and straight to the point. He didn't advertise or get me to pay for things I didn't need, unlike some other dental offices I've been to. The end result was great and my teeth are whiter than they've been in a while.

I've been going here for a few years now since our dentist retired! I would give them 10 stars if possible! They are top notch and do not push to do other things that are unneeded. I've seen Ben and Thomas and I HIGHLY reccomend them. My husband now goes there too. That's a HUGE testimony.

I want to say that DR Ben is a phenomenal outstanding dentist. Every 3 months I go and get my teeth cleaned. He is the BEST and I mean the BEST at cleaning teeth. He makes sure before I leave that my gums and teeth are cleaned to perfection. When I leave my mouth feels so wonderfully cleaned. He is such an outstanding, kind, compassionate human being. The office staff are top notch and the office is sparkling clean. When you come for your appt they make you feel so relaxed and comfortable. So if you come to Lutz dental you will not be disappointed.

I have never in my whole life had such a comforting and wonderful experience getting my teeth cleaned as I did with Dr.Ben. I avoided receiving this service for a long time due to very painful and traumatic experiences that I had years ago with a previous and unrelated dentist. I have been getting dental work done by Dr. Daniel ( who btw is an amazing dentist) and he recommended a teeth cleaning before I proceeded with that. I reluctantly agreed out of fear , however I booked the appt . From the time I sat in the chair , all the way to the end of the procedure, I felt at ease , pain free and safe. Both Dr. Daniel and Dr. Ben are an amazing team . I feel so grateful to entrust my teeth and health to such kind, compassionate , professional and gifted dentists.
